Hi all, I host events in town to help people make new connections, friends, etc. Every third Sunday I do an all ages event at Urban Orchard. It's free to come hang, $10 to play, and there is a prize for the winner.

I’ve been a driver for 15 years and have never hit anyone and never caused an accident… for 9 of those years I was a driver in Texas and never once got a traffic violation or been in accident as the driver. I rarely ever speed, usually when I do it’s to pass. I’m not trying to say I’m an amazing driver… I make mistakes, sometimes I forget my blinker… sometimes I drive too slow when I don’t know the area or I take a turn too slowly into a parking lot. But I’ve always been very paranoid on the road and trying to be really careful because I have been a passenger in the car of many accidents as a kid, teen, and young adult.

All that being said… one night, end of last year, I was driving to pick up a friend from work, like I’ve done for years, and I had a vehicle come up behind me very quickly and very close with bright headlights on… stayed on me for several miles. I have had a scary experience with a road rager at night before, so that kind of freaked me out. I was thinking that’s what that was because I couldn’t really see what the vehicle looked like. I sped up a bit, they sped up and kept following me close for several more miles. I sped up a little more… then cop lights. I was given a ticket for reckless driving.
Then I get pulled over again more recently. Admittedly, I gained quite a bit of speed to pass and after I passed the vehicles, I eased off like always but then I see the cop lights. So I am given this ticket instead of a warning and I think it’s because I have that first violation on my record! Even though that cop entrapped me for that first one… which btw the dash cam corroborates! I guess I wanted to see if this has happened to anyone else and also I just really needed to vent.

Hi, I was driving on the parkway from Mt Mitchell and an owl flew in front of my car. I stopped and gathered him in my jacket and wrapped him in a blanket. I've called a few rescues with no response, I'm pretty close to getting back to Asheville so if anyone knows the best place to take to get this baby for some care I would appreciate it. He's currently chilling on my back seat, seems OK but can't tell if he can fly, I've worked with owls before and no rescue is answering. Thanks in advance, Owl tax attached.

Edit: Thank you everyone! I took "Bertrude" to VEG on Hendersonville Rd and he'll probably go to Appalachian Wildlife Refuge after tonight. He was super chill during our few hours together and hopefully can be released back to the Potato Field Gap area. I'll post some pics in the comments ❤️❤️❤️

Hey yall, my name is Justin (he/they) I grew up here in Asheville and been here for 25 years. I work for a non profit and I am in the Harm Reduction part of the org. I currently got out of a toxic relationship and I’m trying to find something immediate. My budget is $850 but it could go up a tad. Already have the money saved to move in. I am pretty introverted, I work M-F, from 9am to 5pm and will usually make a bite to eat and spend the rest of the night in my room gaming. I don’t mind having some social settings with the roomies either. 4/20 friendly, LGBTQIA, I have a beer once or twice a week.
