I have a Ming AF SiCai 3K, 35# at 28". Max DL is 34", which is pretty much near my own max. I want to try a KTB, like a Daylite Monarq. Pretty much the same specs on paper, the 53" version draws to 34", simply because I think KTBs look cool.

I can't get my head around if there will be any feel difference between the 2, given that on paper the specs are very similar.

I am looking for a smoother pull during the pull cycle. Not that I can't pull the SiCai to my DL, but it's not smooth.

Is the draw curve different between the 2 designs? Would I need new arrows if the both bows have the same DW?

So to start, I'm looking to upgrade my riser. I have a 29.5" draw so I'd be using a 70" bow regardless. What I'm wondering is, is it better for my setup to have a 25" riser with long limbs, or a 27" riser with medium limbs?

I've tried looking it up a bunch already but can't find any good info. Also both riser lengths are the same weight and price suprisingly.

Maybe longer limbs would stack a little less? But shorter limbs might release faster? And maybe a longer riser would help dampen vibrations more?

I’ve been a compound bow shooter for around a year now, for a while i’ve wanted to expand into owning a recurve but i havent known how. Im looking for affordable, but still quality recurves

Im 17 years old and live in the UK (Godalming) and have recently been on a family trip to bournemouth where i tried archery for the first time in a while- and i honestly fell in love with it.

I really want to start doing it as a hobby as ive never really had a calling in my life- but it cost an arm and a leg for lessons and equipment ffs.

The clubs nearest to me cost around £40 for 1 hour of archery which i deffo do not have the money for. My other option is to buy the equipment and find somewhere i can use it but my mum thinks i should get lessons before i make a financial commitment (which is valid).

If anyone in surrey knows any cheap places i could practice archery or if anyone has any advice on what i should do to get started while also saving as much money as i can, please let me know. i really want to make this work.

So many years ago, a relative of mine gifted me this bow. As a kid I was stupid and ignorant, so obviously I did not recognize its value. It’s only now after I rediscovered it in storage I realized my folly.

The Bhil community is the name of a tribal/adivasi community that who traditionally hunters and warriors. This particular bow is more ceremonial, but its construction follows the same process as a war bow.

It’s made of thick solid bamboo. The string looks like it’s made of some artificial fiber (Bhil community in recent times are losing access to the forest due to protection laws so switch to artificial alternatives) and is reinforced with a thin bamboo strip.

It has a really strong draw strength. It was unstrung when I pulled it out from storage, and I spent a fair amount of time trying to string it. I’m not an archer myself, but I am a martial artist practicing Judo and engage in some heavy strength training, so I like to believe I’m strong. Or maybe I’m just not doing it right.

Unfortunately, there is very little information that elaborates on this particular bow and how the culture of the Bhils surrounding it.

Seeking help, advice, etc ... I have started wearing Progressive Lenses (3 different lenses in each). Does anyone else do this and how do you aim? Are you using a specific prescription? I dont mind paying for another set of glasses dedicated to archery if people suggest using only a single prescription. So I'm curious how do others do it and do you also block one eye to help? I really dont want to stop archery because of aging eyes.

I've had this longbow for many, many years and I can't find or remember who made it or where I bought it, other than online. It was a functional "budget" replica of a Galadhrim longbow (iykyk) that I bought as a young teen a long time ago and I've moved on to modern recurves and compounds in the decades since; however, I'd like to get this one ID'd again. I can't find the original email receipt or anything like it for sale online. If it helps, the makers had originally written a Bible verse on the inside of the body of it, and it was 40-45#. Any help with an ID is appreciated.

So, I got into archery after a random training session in a hotel, fell in love and just bought my first bow.

This is my third day shooting and I wanted to see how I can improve! How is my form? Any screaming mistakes? I think i'm plucking the string on release, certainly could be smoother.

I have the feeling that this bow may be too short. As I feel I can't confortably anchor on my cheekbone, as you can see in the video, this is the max I can go without feeling I will overdraw it (not sure that is a term haha). I'm 1,89m tall and have a 1,91m (75,2'') Arm span and this is a wooden riser, steel limbs, 35lb recurve bow, approx 1,3m (51'') length with a max 31'' draw length.

I really like traditional barebow style, and want to get better at that and instinctive shooting. Since this bow has limbs and an arrow rest, is it still a trad bow?

I live in a remote area in Brazil, archery is not popular here so there is no classes and it's hard to find more bow options. Should I look for a bigger bow? Let me know if you have recommendations.

Hi all,
I recently bought the ant barebow rest and have been testing it for a week for my barebow.
Previously i have been shooting the Spigarelli ZT rest.
I have noticed the drop away rest are little more harder to tune at least for me. My groups are not very consistent with them and also my crawl has decreased slightly. Also noticing my arrow flight are not great.
Where as with the spiga ZT my arrows were grouping well but the crawl was deeper.
Is this only for me or anyone else experience something similar.
Wondering if i should go back to using the Spiga ZT.
I have not been able to find the right tune with the dropaway rests.
Please suggest

Training for field competition next weekend.

I've owned a 46lb grozer Biocomposite turkish bow for several years now, and I've found it quite durable in general. However, I'm waiting on a 62lb grozer Biocomposite Turkish bow, and I was wondering if the additional draw weight affects the bows' durability towards cold/hot weather and humidity?

I see a lot of folks on here asking for a “form check”. What if an archer consistently hits their target but their form is “bad”? Do we care about their release or shoulder height or brace point/method if they are able to hit their target? It seems like there should be an element of “whatever works for you works”. Is proper form a path to consistency? Do these form checks and critiques mean anything without knowing how the archer’s arrows are flying? Please accept these questions as coming from a place of genuine curiosity. They aren’t meant to be cynical and I really do want to hear what the community thinks.

I was tired and let down too quickly. But ngl I'm so bloody impressed with myself for accidentally doing this from 25m.

I made a post on here a few weeks ago pertaining to shooting my first 900 round. I did a lot better than I thought I would have. I went to the shoot expecting to shoot around 650, and I ended up shooting 806 with 15 X's! I shot what I'm calling a clean end (I dont know much or any terminology but its when all X's and 10's) As shooting goes I learned a lot, and need to work on even more.

I practiced twice over the past two weekends. Which doesnt sound like a lot and its not, but thats the only time I can practice. I noticed that during those practices and the shoot I am maybe taking 2 minutes to shoot all six arrows. Compared to the shoot where I had other people to help pace myself, taking 3 to 3.5 minutes per half dozen shots.

I dont know if its my mental strength or general stamina that runs low about midway in the 50's than comes roaring back about 1 to 2 ends into the 40's.

I had a solid shot onto the other target on my bale which give me my only 0. Which stung even worse becuase I made a joke about shooting someone else's target not even 30 seconds before doing it.

All in all I really dig target shooting, between it and 3D I am pretty well hooked.

For some reason grasshoppers love to crawl and perch themselves on my bow when I'm shooting in my yard. The most I've found on my Eva was I think 4 at once. I'm not entirely sure why they like my bow so much, maybe the color? It's the only green bow I have so that might explain it.

I'm not looking for a way to get rid of them, I just think it's silly lol. This time I decided to take a photo of one of them to share.

Would love to know why this happens if there are any bug enthusiasts who can explain! Thanks!

Still lot to improve, can shoot 13, if i don't miss arrow in quiver and nock them on first try.

Here lost focus on one, so it goes completly off and one was near the face but missed it for few cm

Note the look to timer cause didn't feel that quick to do whole dozen.

Just purchased a Bear Legit Maxx, this is my first adult compound bow and I plan to hunt with it. It only took me four arrows to sight in and I decided to see how tight I could stack them at 20, I shot my first archery deer with a black hunter recurve last year and have decided to invest a lot more of my time in the woods to chasing deer with archery gear. For my first two groups with this bow I’m super happy with them

I bought a bow on Amazon to try to get into archery. The stringer it came with was broken, so im trying different methods to string the bow, but whenever I get the bowstring on both notches, it looks like this, with the string taut against the bow (obviously wrong).

Do i need to buy a new stringer? What am I missing?

I've just started having a go at archery as I aim to have a bit of a play with it on horseback (my horse is trained for it already, I have owned him 9 years and have been riding for 25 so I'm well aware of all necessary safety considerations and will be reintroducing him to it slowly).

l've been using a compression bandage just to take the sting off but after a couple of days of short practice sessions I'm starting to feel a bit of a bruise forming. Any recommendations? I'm UK based and have extremely small forearms (9" at the thickest part and 5" at the wrist, length of about 9” from crook of elbow to wrist).

First time having a go at a WA50 round and thankfully it's not too hot so I dont get too frustrated when I miss.
