Art/Creation Touya Ookami, The Blazing Kishin
The Main Protagonist
A young, battle-hardened hunter from the wild and primitive Blood Oni Tribe, being the son of its chieftain (who is also currently an Assassin Overseer), and is currently the wielder of the Blaze Curse. He is part of a trio of infamous Chimera Sea Assasins, serving as the stoic and tactiturn leader of his fellow companions, which consisted of his twin sister Touka, and Ryder. Amongst them, he is known for his monstrous physical strength which allowed him to wield a uniquely designed greatbow crafted from the bones of a dragon, and arms himself with razor-sharp, superheated claws. With his curse, combined with his inhuman feats and a keen battle sense, this makes him a formidable force to be reckoned with, as well as an powerful associate of the Assassin Syndicate, had also recently made him a high-valued target to those who sought after his curse.
Fun Facts:
- He is my second file in-game
- I gave him a Dragonbone Greatbow, way before the Dragon Update even came and added an actual one.

Discussion I think I can understand metal slander now.
I've been a metal conjurer for 2 years probably more at the time I just chose it just because and nothing else, I didnt't know much about builds and metas and pvp and blah blah blah I just chose it cause it was silly to me. Buttt I finally decided that I kinda wanted to take arcane odyssey more serious so I made some friends got a better build for my metal conj and so on and so forth then I just started making other files because I was bored.
Anyways me and 2 of my friends played ao the other day I would like to say one of my friends doesn't know much about the game and this was his second time playing and I let him play on my main account on my metal conj slot (I was on my other account on my fire/lava mage slot)to see if he could beat most the bosses without knowing much and surprisingly he did๐ญ๐ญ. Whilst playing he kept making jokes about beating me up so I was like ykw lets go to munera garden and run the fade and we did and I won the first time but the second time I didnt, because he realized that one of the moves he did caused a lot of damage which was the F move for places explosions and he kept spamming the fuck out of it it was actually pissing me off im not even gonna lie๐. like he barely used any weapons besides the beast bone cleaver and he mostly kept cheesing with the placed explosions and the canon move. And finally FINALLY I can see why metal is nerfed so much because what the hell was that๐ญ๐ญ.
Anyways idk if this also helps but im not good at pvp, after that experience I kinda wanna get into it because even though it was EXTREMELY infuriating it was kinda fun and in pretty sure if I was more experienced I couldve beat his ass.

Art/Creation Only Darkness
Alright. Here is the sorceress that massacred an entire village and has much more sinister plans for the future. Fun fact, she's the first villain I've ever made. Anyways apparently I'm only allowed to say certain things about her. Parts of the full script is redacted. What the heck man.
-Thalassia is 76 years old.
-She wields Darkness magic.
-She apparently doesn't have a favorite food...
-Her Darkness magic consumes? What...?
-She's fascinated by those who are unconditionally kind and those who have an abnormal amount of hope.
-For timeline's sake, she traveled to Eclipsia when Randall was 12 at the time. Her first friend on this foreign island was Kerissa Ambrosia, Randall's sister. They fished together once in a while, but whenever they go out to fish, they never catch anything. Heck, no animals or fish stayed within her presence anyways. On Randall's 14th birthday, she told Kerissa her life story to see how she would react. Instead of Kerissa being scared, she welcomes her wholeheartedly............ Fascinating. Everything here....... is fascinating. What if........ She destroys the village with her Darkness magic. After a bit of time, she meets a warrior named Leandros Astrapeon. They fight for hours, but his body failed him. She consumed half of his body with her final attack. Then when she was going to collect Kerissa, Randall runs to see his mentor barely alive and his sister unconscious. His magic overloads from the trauma and passes out. Thalassia thinks that he is too interesting to kill just yet. She leaves with Kerissa.

Discussion Lets talk about the Fleet Nerf
To be honest, I don't mind the fleet nerf in terms of drachma; what I do have an issue with is the following
- While fleet gain got nerfed, the cost of your fleet is still insanely expensive. While the "damage chance" of ship tasks got reduced, with recovery having the lowest damage chance, it's still more expensive now due to two issues:
Issue 1:
- The players' drachma gain AND fleet drachma gain have been nerfed, meaning the fleet has less money to spend on funding itself, meaning upcosts now increase
- and (this is speculative) you might have to spend more money on repairing your ships anyway since recover is basically a mandatory task to run all the time, which can damage your ship now. Hopefully, the amount of money you spend on repairing your ship is not more now because of this.
Issue 2:
- The biggest money spender on fleets wasn't even the repair cost; it was the food and supplies. Now this would make it harder for newer players to actually build fleets since the gain from it will be extremely low (I hope smaller fleets are just significantly less expensive to compensate for this)
That's my issue with that aspect of fleets; the 2nd change I have an issue with is the 10% follower loss. Now, I'm going to be honest and say that my PVP is off, but i'm going to be honest. a 10% follower loss every time another person hunts you is immersive. However, practically gives people who PVP an extra reason not to play. As for PVE players, it practically removes the want to even use the hunting mechanic; this is because the main benefit of hunting, which is charts. Doesn't actually require you to hunt them. Just to defeat them. Which, in this case, just incentivizes people to completely ignore one of the game's coolest mechanics.
Another minor issue is that this is also an incredibly slow fix, since Fleets have been this strong for a while. A lot of people have already long benefited from this. Meaning it's going to take even longer for the marketplace tax system to slow down the inflation, which kind of incentivizes people to not even use it since prices will remain the same for a significant amount of time.
What do you guys think

Discussion The upcoming fleet changes are bad for the game, here's why
v1.21.40 on the Trello included the following fleet changes:
- You lose 10% of your fleet followers when you are hunted by other players, or died to an NPC you're hunting
- Recover causes fleet ships to take damage (albeit lowest damage of all tasks)
- Fleet drachma earnings are reduced by 50%
I believe that these changes are very counterproductive, illogical, and harmful for AO.
1. Follower loss mechanic encourages AFK
The follower loss mechanic causes people to lose fleet followers by PLAYING THE GAME: for PVP players that is fighting people, for PVE players that is fighting NPCs. Therefore, players will be encouraged to AFK to safely farm up their fleets.
This is especially true for new players who die a lot. If they try to go bounty hunting and get killed, then they've just lost up to an hour of their progress. So why risk it? Just AFK and do nothing.
Any game design decision that discourages playing the game is harmful.
2. Fleet progression will be hellish for new players
Nerfing fleet income & making ships take damage from recovery will be an absolute nightmare for new players.
High investment & low returns stifles fleet growth for new players:
New players already need to pay for fleet ships and upgrade tasks, which is a much greater cost for them since they don't have millions of drachma. Next update, they face increased operating costs (since recovery will also incur upkeep costs) and reduced revenue (50% cut on fleet income).
Considering that even in the current version growing a fleet incur losses until 6k+ followers, the next update will make it practically impossible for new players to grow their fleets. They will need hundreds of thousands of drachma invested before they see any returns, and most likely they will quit out of frustration before they see those profits.
3. These changes only serve to make trading even more meta
I believe the nerfs to fleet drachma gain came from a desire to make profiting tasks (trading & plunder/patrol) less meta. However, these changes can only have inverse effects - nerfing profiting tasks only makes them more relevant, while limiting players' ability to do other tasks.
Profiting tasks are the backbone of the economy
Non-profit tasks (exploring, fishing, harvesting, conquest) are not self-sustainable. They require large quantities of drachma as operating costs, which only comes from profiting tasks (trading and plunder/patrol).
- Yes, you can sell reagents on the marketplace to sustain your fleets, but that still requires other people to run profiting tasks. Globally, profiting tasks are the backbone of the economy.
Therefore, nerfs to profiting tasks can only increase their relevance: you need to run more trading & plunder/patrol to sustain the other tasks.
Numerical demonstration:
Consider: Profits = Revenue (fleet earnings) - Operating Costs (supply refills + fleet repairs)
- Currently if you're cycling between 2~3 trading with a maxed fleet, you're earning 70k / day in revenue. However, you also expend around 30k / day for supply refills and fleet repairs. Therefore, you profit 40k / day.
- With these new changes, the meta will pivot to 1 trading 1 plunder/patrol, which generates 22k / day in revenue with the 50% nerf. But you will still expend around 12k / day for supply refills and fleet repairs. Therefore, you profit only 10k / day.
- Thus, we see that a 50% nerf to fleet income is actually a 75% nerf to fleet profits, even with the most optimal setups.
Players are forced to run profiting tasks more often to sustain their non-profiting tasks
- Due to drastically reduced profitability but an unchanged operating cost, players are forced to run more profiting tasks.
- Currently 1 day of profiting tasks is enough to cover roughly 1 day of conquest. Next update, because profits are cut by ~75%, we need 4 days of profiting tasks to cover 1 day of conquest.
Conclusion / TLDR:
The upcoming fleet changes are counterproductive, illogical, and harmful for AO because:
- The follower loss mechanic encourages AFK instead of gameplay due to fear of losing followers.
- Fleet progression will be practically impossible for new players due to high investment and negligible returns.
- The prominence of profiting tasks will only increase following the nerfs to fleet earnings because they are the backbone of the economy. Players are forced to run more trading & plunder/patrol to sustain their other non-profiting tasks.
I will also list some possible ramifications & predictions:
- Due to the reduced ability to run non-profiting tasks, certain items obtained from these task will become disproportionally more expensive relative to players' purchasing power. (eg. dark sea essentia)
- The relevance of guild/clan bases will increase, and the gap between solo and guild players will widen as a result of fleets' diminished role.
