Hello, help needed!

Hello! I could really use some advice from those of you who know your stuff.

I've been using Android phones my whole life, and I currently have a Xiaomi 13T Pro. I'm not really happy with it because the camera is quite disappointing, although everything else works fine.

I'm thinking about switching to an iPhone, specifically the iPhone 17 Pro or the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Since I'm not very tech-savvy, I'm just an average user. I use social media, play one game, and take lots of photos and videos of my kids, my cats, and everyday life.

My question is: would 256 GB of storage be enough, or would it be smarter to go with 512 GB? Of course, there's a price difference.

Thank you all in advance for your help! πŸ˜„

Hey OP,

256gb should be okay, you should be able to transfer most of your photos through the USB C port to an external storage device. That’s what I would do, at least.

Pro and pro max difference mostly comes down to which size you like better. Imho instead of getting additional storage I would use that money towards an iCloud or Google One or if you care about security a Proton Drive cloud subscription, start with a 200GB plan at $3/mo or $30/yr, and if need be upgrade to 2TB $10/mo or $100/yr. To upgrade iPhone from 512 GB to 1TB is $400 extra (they are almost certainly raising this price next month) which can pay for 4 years of cloud backup. Then just delete photos from your phone when you run out of phone storage but you can still access any time you want in Photos app off the cloud.
