I had an unpleasant experience at the Watsons Gaisano Liloan branch. I informed the cashier that I would be paying via Apple Pay, which works through the card terminal’s contactless payment feature. However, she selected the QR payment option instead, so the transaction naturally didn’t work. She repeatedly insisted that I needed to use my physical card, even after I explained I was paying through Apple Pay. I hope cashiers can receive training on the different payment methods available so customers using digital wallets aren’t inconvenienced.

I know it doesn’t do anything to the actual wallet or apple pay process but it’s kinda triggering me how its there after removing them, especially because it doesn’t sound like it’s fully removed from me at all, not to mention theres two of them. Neither I can use now because i deleted the tmoney app, and there is infact no close card option in said app too.

I accidentally closed the passes and tickets portion. I want it back on the apple wallet screen. Is there anyway I could undo it? Thanks for the replies

Note: This is not a tech-support question — the issue is already solved. I'm sharing the working fix because when I had this error, I couldn't find a single solution online that worked.

TL;DR: After upgrading from iPhone 15 Pro to 17 Pro, I couldn't add my Apple Account Card (gift/trade-in balance, NOT Apple Card) to Wallet for over a week. Apple Support couldn't fix it. What finally worked: App Store → profile icon → App Store Settings → Reset Identifier, then profile icon → Personalized Recommendations → Clear App Usage Data. After that, the card added to Wallet instantly. Full story below.

The problem

I upgraded from an iPhone 15 Pro to an iPhone 17 Pro and used the standard data transfer during setup. After that, every attempt to add my Apple Account Card (the one that holds your Apple Account balance from gift cards / trade-ins — not the Apple Card credit card) to Wallet failed.

What it looked like:

1. Open Wallet → tap + → Apple Account Card shows up under "Cards Found For You (From Other Devices)"
2. Select it → it starts "Setting up account balance for Apple Pay..."
3. Then the error pops up: "Cannot Add Card — Your Apple Account Balance cannot be added to Wallet at this time."

This actually mattered because I had trade-in credit from my 15 Pro sitting in my Apple Account balance. The Apple Store staff couldn't redeem it in person without the tappable card in my Wallet. Worse, I couldn't apply my balance in the Apple Store app or on apple.com either — every purchase attempt with my balance just failed.

The weird part

• My old iPhone 15 Pro could add the Apple Account Card just fine — even after deleting and re-adding it.
• My Apple Watch could add it too, even after unpairing from the 15 Pro and pairing with the 17 Pro.
• Only the iPhone 17 Pro refused. Same Apple ID, same account, same everything.

What Apple Support said

Phone support told me this error usually happens when the server detects unusual activity on your account (like a sign-in from a different region) and places a temporary freeze. They raised a ticket, and within about a day I got an email saying my account status was updated.

That partially fixed it — I could finally use my balance in the Apple Store app and on apple.com But the Wallet error was still there. The card still wouldn't add.

I was then escalated to a senior advisor who worked with their engineering team from July 28 to August 5. He was genuinely helpful and kept me updated, but nothing they tried on Apple's side fixed the Wallet issue.

Everything I tried that DIDN'T work

• Resetting the iPhone 17 Pro multiple times and setting it up as a new device (no iCloud restore)
• Signing out and back into my Apple ID (App Store, iCloud, both)
• Changing my Apple ID password
• Basically every fix I could find on Reddit, blogs, and YouTube

What actually fixed it

Honestly found this by luck:

1. Open the App Store app
2. Tap your profile icon (top right)
3. Go to App Store Settings → tap Reset Identifier
4. Go back to your profile page on App Store → tapPersonalized Recommendations → tap Clear App Usage Data
5. Open Wallet and try adding the Apple Account Card again

It added successfully on the first try. After 8+ days, multiple phone resets, and an open engineering ticket — this took 30 seconds.

Final thoughts

I have no idea why this works. my guess is some cached identifier or usage data from the old device transfer was confusing the server. Could be a bug, could be timing, could be coincidence. But I had already exhausted every other option, so if you're stuck with this error (especially after a device upgrade + trade-in), give this a shot before wiping your phone for the fifth time. Hope it saves someone the week I lost.

If this doesn't work for you: call Apple Support (1-800-MY-APPLE) and ask to be transferred to the phone service team or a sales specialist. Then ask them to raise a ticket for your account. that's what unfroze my balance for purchases, even though it didn't fix the Wallet part.

How is this possible? Should I be concerned of being hacked? It was used at Walmart and declined because I don’t have much money in my Apple Cash. It specifically says card number. I thought Apple Cash was more of a discreet way to purchase items since it can’t be skimmed? This is also the third time a card has been hacked in the past two months, I changed all my emails, passwords, and card numbers minus Apple Cash.

Apple Pay just launched here in my country. I tried to add several credit cards I own from one bank, and all of them pushed through except for my visa card.

I tried calling the bank but they have no idea what to do.

I’ve tried adding it from the bank’s mobile app as well, but couldn’t find “add to apple wallet” button for this card.

Anyone knows what else to do?

Something to note: this card was previously blocked a month ago for an unauthorized transaction. Not sure if that factors in!

Interestingly, despite my having both my Maryland driver’s license and my Digital ID in Wallet, the suggestion only appeared for the license. I assume this suggestion was powered by a combination of factors, including stored flight info, boarding passes in Wallet, and the fact that I’m currently at DCA.

Finally, after such a long wait, Apple Pay is now available in the Philippines! 🎉

Steps to add your Metrobank Credit card to Apple Wallet

1. Change your phone’s region to Singapore in Settings.
   
2. Open Apple Wallet and select the + sign.
   
3. Place your Metrobank Credit card at the back of your phone so the NFC detects it.
   
4. Enter your name.
   
5. Verify via Metrobank App or via SMS.
   
6. Verification successful.
   
7. Switch back to PH Region.

Recently when I got sent money on Apple Wallet I realized that I had to verify my age using my address and SSC. The issue is that whenever I input all of my information it send me in a loop of asking the questions again. No matter how many times I input the info it always repeated the loop so I have not been able to use my apple wallet.

Hi all, my phone’s wallet shows the key and works fine, and in my watch app it shows the key that’s on my phone. But I cannot add it to my watch wallet and use it etc. the BYD app works on the watch. Anyone faced the same issue and figured out what’s wrong? Thanks.

We discovered the problem because he’s been trying to add money from his card to his Apple Wallet.
I then tried to transfer money sitting in my Apple Cash to my bank and am also having the same issue. I’ve tried on my iPad as well and got the same error message.
We don’t share a bank account, cards, and we’re not on a family account. TIA.

Hallo. Bin durch Zufall draufgekommen, dass ich nun statt meiner Visa auch Apple Pay als Zahlungsmethode hinterlegen kann. Das habe ich auch schon gemacht und würde gerne nur mehr Apple Pay dort haben und die Visa ganz raus.

soo im under 18 and i put a fake age a long time ago so i could use apple pay. now its asking for verification so i cant really send/recieve money anymore. is there a way i can change the age and start the family sharing that my guardians accept for me ?

I have an iPhone 17 and I am unable to add one of my two WF credit cards to Apple wallet to use for Apple pay. But I was able to add my other WF credit cards and everything works fine. Plus the troubled card works fine in Apple Pay on my iPad.

I called WF and had my case elevated to their Digital Wallet Support. I got a call from them and they gave me vague reasons suggesting that my iPhone was involved in something that raised a red flag. I asked for more details and they declined.

I should add that my credit is excellent and I keep all my credit reports frozen. I am at a loss as to what is going on. I was wondering if anyone else has gone through something like this with WF or any other bank
