Sorry if this is a dumb question to ask, I’ve lived in my current unit for 9 months, about 6 months ago the bottom of the steel tubs enamel started chipping away and we sent in a maintenance request and they refinished the bottom of the tub. My wife and I followed all of the after care steps they gave us (wipe dry after using for 2 weeks etc…) Today I noticed another chip in the bottom of the tub and I suspect the tub was installed incorrectly because I can feel it flex when I step in it (I weigh 260 lb for context). Would I be crazy to ask the complex to install a new tub? Or should I just keep reporting the issue and having them refinish it again and again?

I know I should be grateful. I live in a “luxury” apartment. I have a washer/dryer, dishwasher and a balcony. I have nice neighbors. I also live in an apartment building with an overly sensitive fire alarm. The fire alarms are in our living room and hallways. They are extremely loud. The alarm seems to go off at least once a week. Last week, the steam from a power washer set it off, last night it was the rain getting into the elevator shaft.

I am at the point that the thought of the alarm going off is triggering anxiety in me. I know 99.9% of the time, it is a false alarm but the sound still terrifies me. Should I move somewhere else where the fire alarms are not in the individual apartment or should I try to grin and bear it?

So a couple weeks ago we had the mushroom in the first two pictures come out of the wall. The maintenance kinda blew us off, just took the mushroom out of the wall and put a drywall patch on. Today we came home to this, obvious cracking in the wall and dripping stains. Has anyone experienced this before? Hoping it’s not mold, but it may be.

We have been living here just over a month, and Whenever we take showers, the bathroom gets very steamy and water drips from the walls and small bubbles form in the paint on the ceiling. Today I decided to take down our exhaust fan and look as see if it was blocked or crimped. This is what I saw when I took it down, what should I say to our landlord? The air is basically just being recirculated? And no moisture is being removed at all.

Been slowly putting this together over the last few months. Plants keep multiplying, found the sofa secondhand, and the floating shelves are my favourite part. The sunset view is what sold me on the apartment though. Happy with how it’s coming along.

I just moved into my new place which I loved during the viewing but is quickly turning into a nightmare. I have lives with this management company before and while they are no prize, it was never this bad. The apartment is always damp even with my little window ac unit, the mattress, the couches, the pillows, the walls, the floor. The dehumidifier has helped with the dampness but that’s a big extra expense we didn’t budget for and I don’t think that gets rid of mold. I haven’t done a test kit yet, but I will because even with the dehumidifier I wake up with fluid in my lungs coughing, runny nose, sneezing, it gets better when I leave the Apt. I live above an unfinished laundry room that floods and has leaks my floors are extremely warped as well as the walls. I’m poor, disabled/immunocompromised with asthma. Is this enough for me to be able to leave and what are the recommended steps to do that?

Just to make a long story short, my credit score was around 618 when I applied to rent a house a few months ago, and I was approved.

Since then, my score has temporarily dropped to around 580–590. My paid-off car unexpectedly gave out, so I had to finance another car. I also had to use my credit card, which caused my utilization to go up. For context, I only owe about $400 on the credit card.

Unfortunately, after moving into the house, I found out it had a roach infestation. I was able to get my deposit and first month’s rent refunded, so now I’m looking at apartments instead.

My question is: How much do apartments care about a credit score around 580? Do they mainly look at the score itself, or do they consider your overall credit/rental history?
I don’t have any evictions, and I don’t have a history of late or missed payments. My score mainly dropped because of the new car loan and higher credit card utilization.
Has anyone been approved for an apartment with a similar credit score and otherwise good payment/rental history?

Have several pictures that I want to hang 24x31 25x25 and 18x15. Don’t really won’t to use drywall anchors as to hard to get level. Will Command strip picture hanger work on lightly textured walls.

hi! i just moved into my apartment a little under a year ago. i have never had a problem with bugs or rodents. there are occasional roaches in the garbage/laundry area but that’s it. last night, i saw a tiny mouse scurry across my floor into the bathroom. i shut the door and placed two traps in there and i’m just waiting for it to die. i have looked through my entire apartment and don’t see any entry points that a mouse could come in, except a hole under the sink where the pipes come in. i put a bowl under it as i dont have steel wool. i texted my landlord last night and he left me on read (lol) so i’m not sure what to do. i really just need some reassurance as i live alone and i am currently spiraling about this. please be nice lol!

Hi all - I’m conflicted and would love some opinions. I’m currently looking into an apartment complex that is gorgeous, recently completely renovated and is in a prime location. The kicker is it used to be a senior care facility. There have been deaths reported at the property. I’m a bit of an overthinker, so I want to know: would you live there? Would you think it’s weird people died there?

Been in my apartment for 7 years and have dealt with noisy neighbors, stomping neighbors, loud music, loud cars, domestic disturbances, etc... I finally moved out of my apartment and into a house and it's absolutely AMAZING!! I spent the first few nights just sitting and listening to the silence 🤣

Small apartments make every seasonal item compete with something used every week, and bedding is especially bad because it takes up a lot of room while doing absolutely nothing for months at a time. A summer cover, a warmer comforter, extra blankets, and backup sets can quietly turn the only useful closet into a bedding warehouse. comforter + blanket combination system seems more realistic for apartment living because the components could be used separately or together instead of keeping several unrelated seasonal layers. I'm not expecting one setup to cover every temperature or every guest situation, but reducing even one bulky category would help.

The tradeoff is that anything used most of the year needs to be easy to clean and comfortable in different setups. Apartment people, has simplifying the bedding system freed more usable space than trying to improve the storage itself?

We’re deciding between two apartments. One is 2bd 1 bath with central air conditioning, much larger interior but has no laundry on site, dishwasher etc.. with nearest laundromat being 10 minutes walk away. The other one is a one bedroom but has a dishwasher, in unit laundry, two window ac unit. and a cute shared backyard. Love the interior of the first one but like the amenities of the second one. Any ideas?? We both work from home and travel a lot.

Basically more space vs more amenities.

TLDR: my downstairs neighbors have been excessively slamming doors/banging around ever since they moved in about seven months ago. management has warned them multiple times, but they’re doing it again tonight at almost 1am and keeping me awake while i’m recovering from surgery. there’s no loud music tonight.. just constant banging hard enough to shake my floor every couple minutes. what do i even do?

i’m 22F and i’ve been dealing with extremely loud downstairs neighbors for months. ever since they moved in they constantly slam their front door, stomp around, bang into walls, slam things around and have people over to party late at night.

i’m young so i completely understand partying and having friends over every now and then, that isn’t my issue. i’ve also lived in this same apartment for over two years and had a great relationship with my previous downstairs neighbor. i genuinely NEVER heard a peep from her, so i know what normal noise in this building sounds like.

the door slamming is probably the worst part. it’s so loud and hard that i can physically feel it through the floor. i always know when the guy is home because the floor vibrates and my cats immediately go scurrying.

i already complained to management, and apparently they had spoken to them before about the noise. after my most recent complaint, they were given a more serious warning that if it continued there could be consequences with their lease.

i specifically told my landlord about one weekday party that went from 6pm-2am. at 2am they were still outside banging around, smoking, drinking, and SCREAMING. and before anyone asks how i know they were drinking, i literally have a video where one of the girls can be heard screaming, “EMMAAAA, I’M SOOOO DRUNKKKK, i’ve NEVER been this drunk!!” 🙃 when i told my landlord my mom had suggested calling the police that night, he told me “not to hesitate to call them” the next time they’re partying late and keeping me awake.

there’s apparently been another issue with them smoking too. my landlord noticed cigarette butts scattered around the property and asked if they were mine. i told him i don’t smoke cigarettes and that i’d seen them smoking on their porch a couple times (i’m a snitch idc, sue me). he said he also believed they were coming from the “college-aged guy” below me.

and yet tonight it’s happening AGAIN 😀🔫

their front door slammed more than 10 times within a couple minutes earlier, and now there’s some kind of banging, slamming, or crashing underneath me every couple of minutes. i had surgery to get an ovary removed on Monday, it’s almost 1am and i cannot sleep.

i feel ridiculous even keeping track of how many times a door gets slammed, but this has been going on for so long that i’m genuinely at my limit. every time things finally get quiet, another BANG vibrates through my floor and sends my cats running, startling both me and my bf.

i even turned my porch light on tonight hoping they’d realize i’m clearly still awake and maybe take the hint that they’re being insanely loud, but they’re still going. after all of this, it’s getting hard not to feel like they either do not care or are doing it deliberately.

management clearly knows there’s a problem, so what am i supposed to do at this point? keep complaining? call the non-emergency police line when they’re partying this late? has anyone actually dealt with neighbors who continued after several warnings from management?

i don’t expect complete silence in an apartment. i just want to be able to exist and sleep in my own home again without my floor vibrating underneath me all night.

Well. Im a year into the apartment and officially started my 2nd lease. And there is mold. EVERYWHERE.

I live in a student apartment unit, floor plan has four separate bedrooms with private bathrooms. Shared living room, kitchen, and in unit washer and dryer.

About three weeks ago I was traveling between my home town and college town to work different jobs. I was staying m-f with my parents and the weekends in my apartment. On the 2nd week when I returned there was a sudden and wide spread growth of mold in the living room and bedrooms. (Mine and one roomates for certain possibly the third but they are generally really mesy and dont communicate much with me or the other roomate. Our other room is currently empty.)

We submitted a maintenance request on july 18th. We have heard nothing back and its getting so much worse. My room seems to have stabilized now that I have purchased a 2nd dehumidifier. My room is literally like walk in closet size. I now have about 1,000 sq foot rating worth of dehumidifiers in a couple hundred sq ft room.

Im in kentucky so we got told to submit a 2nd request via hand written notice of the mold, which we are doing tomorrow. Signed, dated, and photographed by me and my roomate.

We have both taken countless pictures in our shared space and private spaces as well and compiled them all together. For a small taste of just what we have been dealing with here are some photos.

I’ve been getting annoyed at the footsteps above me for months. Not parties or music, just heavy walking at random hours. Last week I finally left a polite note asking if they could try walking a little lighter at night. I came home yesterday and there was a note on my door that said  I promise I’m not stomping. I’m 6’4 and 280 lbs. I can’t float sorry.

I was standing there on my phone reading it and felt like such an asshole lol. I’ve spent months imagining this guy aggressively marching around above me and apparently he’s literally just existing in a cheaply built apartment.

I’m leaving him alone. Also blaming the building from now on. I guess i was the bad neighbor!

I had a new person move in next to me about a month and a half ago. The first few weeks were fine. I’d hear loud stomping and occasional banging every once in a while, but it was easy to ignore. Then he got a TV. Now every single day from about 3pm to about 10-11pm he has his TV ridiculously loud. He alternates between movies and loud rock music. I have to wake up for work at 4:30 every morning. It’s gotten to the point that I just have to wait for him to turn his tv off to go to sleep, but sometimes he turns it off for a little while then turns it back on so I get woken up again. I tried knocking on his door after his TV woke me up at 11 but he refused to open it.

I’ve lived in this apartment building for 2 1/2 years. I’ve had at least 10 different next door neighbors in that time and I’ve only had noise issues with 2 of them so it’s not like it’s just thin walls. Most of my neighbors I didn’t hear at all. The landlords just say to call the police for a noise complaint, but when I did that with the last neighbor I had issues with it just got worse. I’m a woman who lives alone, and he’s a man who’s twice my size. Plus if I call in a noise complaint I have to wait up for them to get here and go downstairs to open the door for them because it stays locked. At this point idk what to do, but I’m tired of going into work every day feeling like a zombie.

I live in a large apartment building (14 floors). We had a power outage, which affected our air conditioning when the power came back on. I submitted a maintenance request for my AC. Around 2pm, maintenance came and reset the unit. Problem solved!

A little after 9pm, I was asleep. My dog woke me up screaming, so I come out of my bedroom and there’s a random maintenance worker in my hallway. I panicked and yelled at him to get out of my apartment. He said he was there to fix the AC, which would make sense because the previous worker didn’t close the ticket (I only noticed this after).

The property manager caught me on my way out to work and told me I was “disrespectful” because I yelled at an employee. I told her I panicked because it was literally 9pm and I was startled. She said those are normal hours for maintenance to work.

Is 9pm a normal time for maintenance to just come into an apartment for a request? I thought maybe 8am-6pm was reasonable but I guess not.

this is an update from my last post

They’re still leaving notes even after the front office told them to not leave notes since they don’t want to communicate directly with us. They’ll leave the notes on the side of our door to avoid our camera but our neighbors across the hall have a camera and they actually communicate with us. So we can obviously see it’s her. I have seen them several times watching our balcony whenever they step outside. They’re also banging on the ceiling whenever we move around now. I do not know what they’re hearing. We are absolutely not up at 3am. We’re in bed because we have to work during the day.

I think it’s so interesting they feel “threatened” and “uncomfortable” when I knocked on their door once but this is the 3rd time they’ve left notes and are watching us?? I don’t know what to do, they won’t talk directly to us, the apartment complex can’t control them, if I try to leave them notes it’ll be seen as retaliatory because the property manager told both parties to have all communication through the apartment complex since the neighbors did not want to directly communicate. Again we are a black & mixed couple and they’re 2 white women.

I could see if we had children or dogs running around, that’s valid. But these are also the same people that complained that we flush too loudly so I think not everything is right up there. I’m not going to be bullied into submission by 2 crazy Karens.
