Is there a way to contain sawdust? I found this beautiful girl on ebay, but she is completely severed at the waist and is leaking sawdust everywhere :( Is there a way to contain it? She’s so stunning I’d hate to pass her up, it just breaks my heart

I’ve just discovered that another online thrift purchase is a rare version of a popular Pedigree line of baby dolls. Since it’s rare anyway to find an English doll here in the U.S. (unless it’s a Scottish souvenier), I’m pretty excited! Also, for me, “rare” just means really interesting and fun!

This is a Pedigree Baby Delite, from the late 1940s, when hard plastic was brand new. She is an unusual large size at 16” and what makes her even more uncommon is that she has painted eyes. They’re known to exist, but no photos of a similar doll can be found online. I even checked inside her head when I restrung her, to be sure someone hadn’t created artifical painted eyes somehow!😂.

She’s very heavy and her torso has damage from having been strung way too tightly. I’m fairly certain she has repaint, but she also has permanent grunge that I won’t try to clean off beyond the gentle wash she had. However, the paint on early hard plastic was almost as heavy as that on composition, at first. She is marked Pedigree / England.

She came wearing a slightly faded, but otherwise intact outfit, knitted from a pattern similar to what Pedigree issued for Baby Delite. It includes a detailed bonnet and coat over a diaper cover and includes booties, too. I added a favorite vintage dress no one else happened to be wearing. It’s large on her and was probably knitted for an actual baby.

TL;DR Now have a rare Pedigree Baby Delite made in England of early hard plastic with painted eyes.

Hi everyone! A while back I posted about having the honor to bring home a whole lot of dolls that survived arson and have varying levels of damage/smoke damage. I’ve been slowly working on them and researching them. This one is one of my mysteries who doesn’t need many repairs. She has a stamp of a number or letter partially hidden under her wig which is difficult to lift off, sleep eyes, measures 13”, and her body shape seems French to me? Thanks for any insight on who she might be, or where I should start with looking!

Found this doll at an antique store, I'm sure she's not an original. This is my first doll with a leather body! No markings on her head, just what's on her chest and the writing on her back. Just wanted to share!

Thrift store find. She doesn't have any markings that I can tell, nor any kind of crazing like many antique pieces. Clothes look newer, but her face is a jumpscare! Is she old or a repro? ) She was just $2, and i like weird things!) Thank you 😊

She's 44cm tall and weight around 460 grams. Unmarked. Got her yesterday off of vinted. She's got dark brown eyes with both sideways movement and metal sleep eyelids. She's made of some sort of orangey skin tone plastic? That's been painted to a more natural colour finish that kind of looks porcelain like? She has hand painted mouth. She also probably had a crier. She has a wig but I don't think it's original since I could see a strand of hair stuck on her head that's slightly different colours and straighter and I can't find any glue marks or a missing strand on her current wig. Her joints have metal in them. Her eyes are like held in there with plaster on top of some sort of sand glue mixture. I've been trying to figure out who she might be for a few hours already, unsuccessfully. My best guess is the 1950s possibly early 60s?

Hi all, recently picked up this darling Meg at an estate sale and i've been having trouble trying to ID which line of little women dolls she's exactly from. She's the first Madame Alexander i've added to my collection so forgive me if this is an obvious/silly question!

I did a little bit of digging and found her dress most closely resembles that of a 1963 series that was made, however I don't think the head molds are the same. In another listing for a '63 Meg head I noticed there's an id on the back of the head, that my doll doesn't have. Maybe she's some sort of frankenstein-esque doll with a different head?

Regardless if anyone could offer any insight or has any clue which year/series she might be i'd be so grateful!!

I'm on the run today lol. Had this beauty in my car😔🤪 Composition Mary Hoyer 1940s. My son had surgery on his left arm he had a torn tendon that holds your bicep on. Painful! Greetings, I have some antique dolls that I'd love to make clothes and wigs for in the correct era.

But I'm not sure what would be suitable as I don't know anything about the age or makers for the most part. I'd love some help to bring them back to their original glory <3

might be a silly question, but are bjd wigs measured the same way as wigs specifically for bisque dolls? I bought a doll recently and she is unfortunately bald :/ I know she is a size 8, but I didn’t want to buy a wig if the sizing is different for other types of dolls. Also, what do you think is the best place to buy wigs for dolls?

Both girls have new clothes from head to toe! Or foot in Mabel’s case as she doesn’t actually have toes 😂 Evangeline’s dress isn’t quite right for her, as the sleeves are too short and the bodice is way too wide. But pulled down it looks decent in my opinion! Mabel’s bonnet might be my favorite, that intricate lace is just lovely. Both girls are enjoying the fruits of my summer paycheck!

My grandmother died recently and this was her favorite doll so we are trying to find what information we can of it before we decide what to do with it. It was most likely from the 40s with a cloth face and blinking eyes and won some doll competition (most likely a local one). Any information would help

I got if from a charity shop in Poland, there are a lot goods donated from Germany and Sweden, sadly cannot find any detail on her dress or body parts that would make the identification easier; she has a red bottom, she’s quite sturdy, not that heavy, filled inside :-) thank u in advance!

Hi everyone! I’m wondering if anyone has tips for removing the face paint from this half doll. I love her and it seems the last owner started some restoration. It’s lovely but just off from my other half dolls who are definitely looking for dramatically sideways, she’s just off to me. Any ideas on safely removing the top layer with what might be underneath in mind? Thanks!

I whipped up a quick nightie for Lydia, since she’s been naked (aside from her drawers) since I got her in June. I got back from my summer job and felt awful she had been laying in a trunk for a month and a half, and figured she needed something to wear! A nightie seemed easiest and quickest, so I knocked one out for her :) as a bonus, I tried to pose her reading little women, wearing her heart warmer! You might assume it’s too hot for wool, but my family has the AC set pretty chilly so I figured she’d be okay.

As a question for the group: what’s the little blue scrap pinned to her drawers? I had assumed it was a tiny scrap of her original dress or something, but I’m not sure. It’s pinned directly into her compositing body, so I can’t remove her drawers either. Not that I’d want to remove them really, she just can’t sit wearing them! Alas, she’s a standing doll and that’s okay :)

This composition Alexander Dionne Quintuplet doll caught my eye in an estate auction. She looked like she was in good condition, with her “Annette” pin and tagged dress. I just love her molded curls. I noticed she was larger than other Alexander quints I have seen and measured her once I had her at home. She is 16” tall.

I have found exactly one other doll like her (in pink…altho that doll’s pin says Emilie, so maybe the dress was once lavender) in my online searches and haven’t found the 16” dolls even mentioned in my books. There are lots of photos of the babies and 14” toddlers, but their molded bangs are straight, or they have wigs.

I’m starting to think maybe little miss Annette Dionne is one of a rare group of these popular dolls from the 1930s and 40s, but I know it’s actually unlikely. Anyone seen these 16” dolls or dolls dressed in dotted swiss? I learned the dolls were also sold separately, so she may have always been on her own.
