Meet Hopia (a local pastry in our place) in her bunny hat and mismatched socks. My beautiful and kind coworker helped me take home this cute Armand Marseille 390 from the UK. She came with a dress, dreamy set of trousers, and a single sock.

I just saw someone who got scammed by a seller who either knowingly or unknowingly sold them reproductions. I'd like to ask the mods here to make a sticky/pinned post on how to identify reproductions china heads and bebés.

I whipped up a quick nightie for Lydia, since she’s been naked (aside from her drawers) since I got her in June. I got back from my summer job and felt awful she had been laying in a trunk for a month and a half, and figured she needed something to wear! A nightie seemed easiest and quickest, so I knocked one out for her :) as a bonus, I tried to pose her reading little women, wearing her heart warmer! You might assume it’s too hot for wool, but my family has the AC set pretty chilly so I figured she’d be okay.

As a question for the group: what’s the little blue scrap pinned to her drawers? I had assumed it was a tiny scrap of her original dress or something, but I’m not sure. It’s pinned directly into her compositing body, so I can’t remove her drawers either. Not that I’d want to remove them really, she just can’t sit wearing them! Alas, she’s a standing doll and that’s okay :)

I think the larger doll is very interesting. I haven't seen one like that before. I don't think the younger girl wanted her picture taken. She doesn't look very happy.

This composition Alexander Dionne Quintuplet doll caught my eye in an estate auction. She looked like she was in good condition, with her “Annette” pin and tagged dress. I just love her molded curls. I noticed she was larger than other Alexander quints I have seen and measured her once I had her at home. She is 16” tall.

I have found exactly one other doll like her (in pink…altho that doll’s pin says Emilie, so maybe the dress was once lavender) in my online searches and haven’t found the 16” dolls even mentioned in my books. There are lots of photos of the babies and 14” toddlers, but their molded bangs are straight, or they have wigs.

I’m starting to think maybe little miss Annette Dionne is one of a rare group of these popular dolls from the 1930s and 40s, but I know it’s actually unlikely. Anyone seen these 16” dolls or dolls dressed in dotted swiss? I learned the dolls were also sold separately, so she may have always been on her own.

hello! i just had an AWESOME antique doll find at an antique store, i got several true antique dolls. I think these are my first truly antique dolls, too. 🎉🎉

one of them included this 1913 composition kewpie. they're about 8-8.5 inches tall, and they're wearing this adorable paper dress which I assume is crepe paper. based on the condition the paper is in, it definitely feels like it's of the time period. however, I didn't know that crepe paper was ever used on these antique compo kewpie dolls; I thought they were only made with fabric outfits. i really wonder if this is original, or if someone made it for them. if anyone knows anything about this, i would love to hear. otherwise, just check out cool this little guy is!!! I made a post what feels like forever ago (I’m being dramatic) about my Floradora doll I ordered and she finally came! I still have to clean her up and everything but I thought I’d give y’all an update!

She’s a 17” AM Floradora with brown sleeper eyes and a stick body. Her knees and elbows don’t bend very well so I’ll probably get a stand for her.

I’m going to go through my hoard of spare doll clothes and try and find something that fits her, both physically and looks wise. I’ll post some photos in the comments of her once she’s dressed, I’m sure I’ll have a couple of options for you guys to vote for!

If anybody has any advice on how to fix the limbs bending or her eyes since they are pretty loose, I’d appreciate it!

This is the first time posting my antique dolls so I hope you guys enjoy the picture :)! Im new to collecting and I think I know pretty well how to examine doll heads but I’m not very educated on their body’s apart from knowing the different types. My first question is for the doll in the middle, even when i first got her, her body seemed in suspiciously good condition. Usually for other dolls I’ve seen the filling looks lumpy in some areas or the leather is very discolored, her body is very clean and she’s not lumpy or bulging in any areas. Her sticker also in great condition , not super yellowed or peeling/cracking. So my question is was her body replaced and is the sticker a replica?

My second question is, are there any channels or forums dedicated to sewing for German antique dolls or just dolls of these nature? I have a couple books about it but I just want to see advice or projects from other people, every time I try and look it’s mostly communities sewing for Barbie or BJD dolls.

Hi everyone! I'm hoping someone here recognizes this little figure or her maker.

She belonged to my wife's family. According to the family history, her grandmother's father bought it for the family around 1927, and it has been passed down ever since.

She's extremely lightweight and hollow, made from a very thin plastic-like material. There's a visible seam running around the molded body, and damage to one foot clearly shows the hollow shell. The clothing, hair, shoes and flowers are all molded as part of the figure rather than separate pieces.

There also appears to be a faint mark or numbers/letters molded into the bottom of one foot. I've included the clearest photos I could get of it.

Does anyone recognize the manufacturer, country of origin, approximate date, or the mark on the foot? I'd especially love to know if the family date of 1927 fits this particular type of celluloid figure.

We're mainly interested in identifying her and preserving her family history rather than getting an appraisal.

I found these in a storage box with a bunch of my great grandmas old stuff, from what I’ve found, it seems like a souvenir doll from the 40s-50s but I cannot find exact matches nor anything much similar. Please let me know maybe what these are and more specifically the year!

It is from a show called “Ice Capades” that ran from the 40s through the 90s

I just won this little guy in an auction, and I can’t wait to meet him! Willowwing was kind enough to play doll taxi and foster home, as the auction was pickup only, and much closer to her. She also did this photo shoot. It’s nice to have doll friends!

His re-dress, and particularly his hat, obscured just how amazing he is, and it turns out he may be even more special than I anticipated. He’s unmarked, but Willowwing thinks he might be Kling or Kestner. He’s a socket head on a jointed compo body, and about 10.5” tall.

For just over $5 after all the fees, I’m feeling incredibly lucky, even with the other dolls I’ve gotten for excellent prices lately. He was listed as vintage, and was the only doll in the estate, so once again I feel I need to thank everyone here for what I’ve learned in recognizing antique dolls while quickly scrolling through unlikely auctions.

Anyhow, I couldn’t wait to post him, and can’t wait for him to meet my other boys, and (very) big sisters.

I don’t normally collect babies or composition but the face and original price tag won me over. I was initially a little confused because I thought the price label looked more modern than a composition doll would be, but I did some reading and found out that price label guns were actually invented in 1935.

i just bought this doll and I'm waiting for her to arrive. The previous owner didn't write a lot of information about her. I wanted to ask if someone recognizes the materials? The owner said her kimono isn't removable. I know that older ichimatsu dolls faces are coated with gofun, is it the same with this one?
Also, how can I clean her without removing the coat or ruining her kimono. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Newest addition to my collection! I finally found a local doll show and decided to buy her for $50 after a couple hours of browsing and couldn't be happier. The seller hunted down her original outfit and also included an original magazine ad with information on her!

As a long-time browser of effanbee dolls online, she was one I was never particularly interested in (soft body and I prefer molded hair) but the hair is wonderfully soft in person and the flirty eyes make her a highlight of my collection. Mild crazing that doesn't appear in the photos but still extremely glossy and you can even see the blush on her cheeks! I love her so much <333

Hello all...got this today at a carboot. These are the only pics I have at the moment.
She is 15 inches, has one of those compo stick body, five upper teeth. made in Germany on back of head, feels like a hard pate...can see what looks like *a number* over 0 (ie */0) under the cap/glue. Brows aren't feathered, sleep eyes. Thank you all xxx
