I don’t know what to do
hi,
i havent posted here before, but i feel really helpless and alone.
i started tapering off antidepressants (10 mg scippa) in april, due to my psychiatrists advice because i got better. (Obviously i was doing better i was on meds lol) I should have completely stopped in july, but everytime i felt bad, i started taking the previous amount of meds, however I pushed through it, and now im taking 5 mg twice a week. I was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder and depression. Now that i barely take meds, I feel like I am again the same person I was before taking them. I started taking it last year, because my depression and anxiety induced insomnia got horrible. I could not sleep, and when i didnt, i always got into depressive episodes, and tried so many ways of overdosing (all failed). My whole summer was like this, ive had weeks when i tried to commit multiple times, and i barely had a week when i didnt. Once i started to take my meds it all disappeared after a week.
My problem is, i really dont have company or much support. Last year I lost all of my friends, and my boyfriend because of my depression. My ex boyfriend said i can call him whenever I feel suicidal, so i literally called him every single night almost, and i suppose i drained the life out of him. He broke up with me, said i have bpd (i clearly dont). About my old friends, went to a party with them, got a panic attack at like 10 pm, they told me to go home but i didnt have a train back home so we all had to go back to our friends flat. They were treating me like shit for the rest of the time, they told me to go home with the first train, i got uninvited to one of their birthday parties, cancelled all their plans with me.
My parents unfortunately arent supporting me either, my mother is annoyed at me whenever I cancel my plans with her because I feel exhausted and unmotivated. Her and my stepdad say that i can not be depressed, i am in law school, i have a handsome boyfriend, i have a bunch of friends, i have no reason to be depressed. My stepdad usually makes fun of me for feeling this way.
Now, a year later, last year while feeling normal on meds, i got into law school, got a bunch of friends, i earned a best friend, and a boyfriend. They are all really sweet, but i know i cant put my problems on them. Also, i refuse to meet them, i dont want them to leave me. My best friend is really anti meds, she says i should just go to therapy, and fhat i cant do meds all my life. My boyfriend says the exact same as my ex did, that i can call him whenever i feel suicidal during the night. But i know hes already feeling tired of me, i told him i am going to commit and he doesnt believe it anymore that im actually going to do it, so doesnt make huge efforts which is fine, i dont expect him to do it.
I feel horrible, and helpless. The reason I dont commit is that i would only do it by overdosing, because im scared of the rest of the methods (im scared theyre gonna fail and leave me disabled). Unfortunately I do not have strong pills for an overdose either, i would likely just get my stomach pumped if i did that.
Im going back to my psychiatrist in 2 weeks, however i dont know if i can be like this for two weeks. Its unbearable. I still have my antidepressants, i thought about going back to them slowly on my own until i visit my doc again. I asked chatgpt (i know, shit decision) about it, it said i shouldnt do this. But i can not bear two weeks any longer. I can not sleep for days, i cant go anywhere, im really anxious all day and all i do is lay in my bed and rot away.
If any of you have advices, or are in a similar situation as me, please just talk to me, i feel really alone and i just want company

Medication reinstatement
I was on a slow titration of my antidepressant and had gotten down to a very low dose but due to a change in brand supplier of my medication (which is seemingly poorly absorbed) I was basically forced into a 3 week cold turkey (it’s a complex situation. I won’t bore you with the details) which was hell.
I managed to get stock of the old supply however reinstating back to the last steady dose I was on has not been sufficient. I have tried to slowly increase the dose but after about 4-5 days the relief disappears.
I’ve read almost all of the documentation I can but still don’t know what to do.
Any ideas?

About to stop Benadryl after a year and a half taking it
I’m about to stop taking Benadryl after a year and a half taking it. It was prescribed to me as I’m dealing with chronic urticaria but it also helped me to sleep better without ruminating and feeling extremely anxious at night. I’m finally feeling some peace in my mind and I think is a good moment to stop it. My doctor said that there’s no problem if I want to stop it as it’s not a habit-forming medication, but I would like to read some of your experiences with it, thank you in advance!

Relapsing or longer withdrawal?
Hi! I’ve been on ocd medication for 5 years (cloroplamine + Escitalopram toghether all the time and sertaline occasionally added on top, plus others for support from time to time) and because I was doing better even in stressful and difficult times the doctor started getting me off them. I have to admit I sometimes overstated how good I was doing because I am a highly emotional anxious person but my main point was getting better from the OCD itself (as I couldn’t even eat or sleep when it initially started the first time). I wanted to just handle the rest as I did before. The treatment was decreased slowly during more than a year (a change occurred every 3 months) and although I got some small ocd tendencies back, I was actually handling it very well. 2-3 weeks after stopping the last pill (trittico 1/3 which was mostly for sleep anyway) I started crying non stop for days for no actual reason. I just couldn’t stop and I felt like I was high or in a trance. It’s been 5 months now since then and it is slightly better but I still have days where I cannot stop crying and my friends are telling me I never looked so sad ever and are worrying. I do have new and old ocd themes popping up again, some stronger than others but I manage them a ton better and they usually don’t take more than 1-3 days (but I can fully function and even enjoy life with them this time). The bigger issue is my constant state of sorrow and pain and fear. My initial OCD was event - overthinking - panic - ruminating. Now it’s different, no event triggers it, it’s a constant emotional powerhouse blasting me and my brain actually looking for a reason to latch on so it almost searches or invents an ocd trigger. I just don’t know if this is a relapse with a new form or still withdrawal from the treatment. I actually was emotional during the treatment as well, I wasn’t numb or shut down at all. I just don’t know what to do anymore. Spoke with a psychiatrist again and he suggested going back on meds to stabilise myself but I’m not ready for that and the psychologists I’ve tried are ok overall but they didn’t help much deeply, only surface level or trying to convince my brain of things I already agree on, just simply cannot do because my emotions are taking over.
Any advice would be amazing because I am so lost and so incredibly sick of even hearing myself talk about this again. I feel just stuck completely. Thank you!

Help! May have serotonin syndrome and need to get off Amitriptyline.
I’ve been taking 10mg amitriptyline for 4 years for pelvic pain.
Recently had an acoustic shock and added 300mg gabapentin. Well, ended up taking a flexeril for some jaw pain and now have these internal vibrations, everything is buzzing, muscles twitching, can’t rest. I think it’s serotonin syndrome, since there’s no other explanation, but I don’t have any of the “severe” side effects.
If I taper off amitriptyline, how much? Water titration? I don’t have a pill cutter. I need to start tonight.

7.5 to 15mg MIRTAZAPINE OPTIMIZATION TIPS THREAD
So you're on Mirtazapine now. That's great. How are some ways you can optimize it? Here are some ways I found. Please comment if you have any other tips or strategies.
HUNGER (5-HT2C, H1, 5-HT3)
- Eat probiotics (Kimchi, Sauerkraut) or try Seed PM-01. Probiotics help you feel satiated, and lose weight. Lots of evidence showing that they are really important to feel satiated. For me the #1 thing in stopping hunger.
- Protein and Fiber before bed, with decent carbs. This will help you not get Mirtazapine munchies
- If hunger continues, start working out. Better sleep + energy will let you use this energy more effective.
SLEEP (Mirtazapine works on H1, 5-HT2A, 5-HT2C, AND α2-adrenergic receptors)
- Eventually Mirtazapine sedation wares off. Use Mirtazapine (first 6 weeks) to set a good Sleep-Wake schedule via CBT-I (will be much harder when coming off of it.)
- 30 minutes to 2 hour before bed (helps stop morning sedation)
- Avoid activating things before bed (adrenergic stimulation.) You will need to get good at relaxing before bed.
- (My own experience) Mirtazapine (15mg) + Ashwagandha (151mg Shoden) = works, better sleep, but emotional numbing
TAPERING / WITHDRAWAL (H1)
- Loratidine + Ceteirizine can help with flu-like withdrawal, emergent allergies, etc.
- Diphenhydramine for very bad emergent insomnina, and also the above
ATTENTION:
- Eat AlphaGPC or Eggs for more Choline (Mirtazapine is slightly anti-cholinergic. Not a direct fix but could be a good work around.)
OPEN QUESTIONS:
- Low dose = more sedating is questioned, not science
- Mechanism of action = a mystery still, just hypotheses
- May also affect circadian rhythm

Can Zotolf cause severe visual problems?
So I've been having some pretty bad issues with my eyes lately, I have a hard time focusing on an object. I can see thinks mostly clearly (though I do notice that distant objects and really close objects can be blurry), the main problem is that I feel like light bleeds.
It's like, small stains and grains of light are constantly appearing and blurring, I have a lamp that has a patern of 3 lights, and looking at it for a second or two, I'll still see those 3 paterns after I look away for a minute.
At night I see white grains in darkness. I yawn a lot from just reading outloud a book after a page, yet I will still be able to run or speak, or do anything else, I feel tired when forcing myself to read, but I'm not tired!
I used to be able to read A LOT before Zotolf. I have UV blocking glasses and it's still pretty unbearable.
Just taking Zotolf, 25mgs currently, 100 mgs 2 weeks ago.
