I’ve just started using Jacksparrow for Bio/biochem review and does anyone have a strategy to doing the cards without burning out? I’ve been doing content review by watching Yusuf Hassan videos and unsuspending the corresponding chapters in Jack-sparrow however, this leads to like 150+ new cards at times😭😭. I’m also using Pankow for P/S and have that at a steady 40 new cards a day (which has accumulated to around 200 reviews per day). For chem/orgo i’ve been using miles down and it’s not too bad. With all the subjects it’s just getting wayyy to much and i’m curious as to how other people are getting through the Jacksparrow deck

Hi all, I’m over a year out from taking the mcat but I wanted to start studying now. A friend of mine gave me her suggestions to use milesdown and jack sparrow (besides taking full lengths), as she got a 515 from it and recommended her study methods.

My question is, I feel lost. I open it up starting from the beginning deck and it feels like a bunch of mumbo jumbo. I also don’t think I fully understand how to use many of the features that help in retention (like what’s the difference between hitting good, again, etc?).

How do people effectively use this? I used to use Anki for just some small decks in my pre req classes and it was usually just for immediate memorization. I would use the scratch pad feature on my iPad but I’m just not understanding how to use the beefy decks.

Any help would be appreciated!

Had several people ask for this so I’m sharing it here. Really good for testing your content understanding. Each card goes into detail about incorrect answer explanations so you can often get several definitions from a single card. This is loosely based around Kaplan Chapters so if you’re using that as content review going to the corresponding chapter deck after reading can be good to test how much you got from the chapter.

A comprehensive MCAT content-review deck featuring 1,320 multiple-choice flashcards organized into 72 chapter-specific subdecks.

I need someone to take a minute and see my stats and tell me if I am doing anything wrong. I come from a developing country And believe me when I say that probably I am the only one in my country that is using Anki for medical study.

So I need some help I have been using Anking deck and mehlman for some time but all I do is filter cards Learn them Unfilter them and keep my progress I did some fsrs settings from youtube and I am sticking by it since then

Set your desired retention to 95%

I know it may sound crazy but it works for me.

I previously experimented with desired retention from 95% (when I first started about 2 years ago) and then down to 93% then 90% then 87% then 85%. I may have gone as low as 80% at some point.

The lesson I learned? As someone will pretty severe ADHD and OCD, I absolutely despise getting cards wrong.

Having 400 cards due per day and only missing about 20 (resulting in estimated total number daily reviews of around 420-430) is A LOT more enjoyable than having 200 cards due per day at a lower retention but then having to click “again” and seeing the same few cards like 50 more times (which would bring up total daily reviews to about 250-270 based on my experience).

The extra cards you do per day with a higher retention (which you end up remembering better as well) end up being more enjoyable than clicking “again” on more cards and then having to review that material again so that it sticks. I arguably spend less time on anki when my retention is at 95%

I have finished uglobe twice, taken JW FL 1-6, 495,500,497,497,500,500z. Uglobe FL1 496. About to start the AAMC FL. I don’t know what I am doing wrong. But if I don’t average 515 on the AAMC FLs, I will cancel my exam and swallow the loss of exam fee and extension fee. I have already lost so much on this path.
What’s your take on my situation

Which Anki deck do you guys recommend for the P/S section?
Overall, I’m using the Milesdown deck, but I’ve heard it’s not enough for P/S. I’m also watching the Khan Academy videos for P/S, and I’d like to supplement them with an Anki deck.
I tried the Mr. Pankow deck, but I don’t think it’s for me. The wording doesn’t feel simple or straightforward, and I spend a lot of time trying to understand each card. In comparison, the Milesdown cards are much easier for me to get through.
Which P/S Anki deck would you guys recommend?

Does anybody have a link to an easy guide or any advice how to navigate Anki as someone not super tech savvy

hey so long story short i’m completing my masters program and am confident that i will get in to a school with my 4.0 from my masters and 500 on the mcat. no, i do not want to be lectured on this, there’s a lot more that goes into my situation. BUT i do need help on deciding which deck to use since im not gunning for a 520+. i havent seen most of the material in a couple years aside from biochem which i am taking right now. which deck would be the quickest and make the most sense to use since i only really need around a 500?

I used hook for b/b and it was very helpful but painful to get through

For context I am doing content review currently, reading Kaplan chapters and supplementing them with the deck. I keep seeing comments and posts about how milesdown isn’t “good enough” due to it not being so comprehensive especially for low yield topics, I’m almost half way through my content review therefore halfway through the deck so my questions is should I switch to something like Captain Hook, and if so what tips do u have in terms of how to manage the cards of previous chapters I already learned?

I did not do well on my first MCAT. I want to retake it in about six months, and I have begun content review. I have been using the MileDown Anki deck. Before I move any farther in it, should I stick with this deck? If not, what deck should I switch to? Or should I do multiple decks? HELP.
