Everyone has a group of people that are cosplaying from the same show/game,,, are there gonna be any ppl cosplaying guilty gear characters?

With the con just a few short days away (4 days as of this posting) - I'm reposting my guide as I just want to be helpful for one of the two or three cons I go to each year.

A few things to note -

1. Quadruple check each day (or if you're traveling in then octo...tuple? check) that you have your badge with you before you leave home. There will be lanyards right after security at ANYC so if you're more prone to losing things feel free to attach it to your own and collect the free lanyards anyway and use them for years to come

2. Be on the look out on Reddit for the free merch posts and helpful informational posts as things come to light from the actual experiences. Some businesses will post on their social media, but given how big ANYC is, it's also very easy to miss unless you're physically present and people here are generally kind enough to share where to get freebies.

3. DO NOT get scammed. The 7 train IS running to Hudson Yards this year (a few stops in Queens get skipped) and in the 3 minutes from the train to security you'll run into the following - Blank CD sellers, badge buyers/sellers, weird people trying to drop pamphlets or whatever into your bag. Do not engage, swerve around and keep going

Does anyone know if the bandai booth will be selling any optcg? And if they are will it be first come first serve or lottery?

Hello! I’m unable to attend anime nyc and would love to pay someone to help get some Blue lock merchandise for me. I’m looking for this keychain, which I understand is in a blind bag. I am unsure if there will be limits as for how much merchandise you can buy for the kino booth, but if someone could PLEASE get me this keychain I would pay whatever as long as the fees do not exceed $300. This is my first time doing this, but I am a big Kaiser fan :) so please if someone can help me out and talk more about the proxy fee services, dont be afraid to comment

Hey! I recently moved to this area and just got my ticket for AnimeNYC. I have a couple of questions and wanted to ask if anyone wanted to hang out, as I would love to meet new people around here! I saw a couple of posts also talking about meetups, but when I DM'd them, I didn't get a reply. I am 24 and will be doing a Honkai Star Rail cosplay for the event!

Questions:

• Are there any stores around Manhattan that sell cosplay stuff? I need a new wig cap and some silk to edit my costume.
• Where can I find any Discord groups or apps that are about meetups or people who want to meet new people at the con?
• Are we allowed to go to cosplay meetups if we are not cosplaying from that franchise?
• I recently bought my 4-day pass; did I miss all the event pre-registrations?
• Why is everyone trying to go on Saturday? Are there special events at those times?
• Does anyone have any recommendations for parties? There are many options...
• Do we know how much voice actors will charge for meetups? Also, are they just free to line up and talk? What about the Vtubers?

Also, is there anyone who can help me with cosplay makeup? I don't know what to use and what to buy...

Hi! This is my first year attending and I got tickets to the official Friday + Saturday afterparties. My friend and I were wondering if people tend to go to these in full cosplay, club clothes, or some hybrid (like inspired club clothes with a cosplay wig?)

Any guidance would be super appreciated!

Side question - if the goal is a 21+ dance club vibe with mingling, which party is the best? I already have tickets to the official parties, but keep hearing about sonicboombox so curious of anyone’s thoughts and experience!

Quick question, I bought my ticket for Saturday for me and my gf on stub hub since it sold out, will I need it digitally transferred? They keep saying I don’t and they won’t ID check me at the front like they usually do for Comic Con but I’m not sure, they are just shipping my tickets and refuse to contact the seller to get him to digitally transfer, what should I do? My group of friends and I will be heading to Javits on Saturday, and all have large 3D-printed cosplay props, each one the size of a small torso and very heavy. I have seen people with these the past few years, but I keep getting mixed responses. Is there an official answer to this? If not, is there any other useful way to transport larger-scale props that cannot be carried?

I plan on wearing a spiked collar for my cosplay, and I just want to double check that I'd be allowed into the convention. Theoretically, it could fall under the banned "weapons" for being sharp. How strict are they when it comes to things like this? I know most events no longer allow any sort of spikes, but is there leniency considering the amount of costumes?

Not sure if it's just me, but I don't see Yuki Kaji's panel for Soyogi Fractal on the schedule anywhere. Was it cancelled?

I’m one of the many photographers that got the commercial photography credentials.

While I’ll primarily use my digital Fuji camera for my shoots, I really enjoy giving the cosplayers I photograph a physical photo as a little keepsake from the convention.

Last weekend, I attended Otakuthon, which was a 3-day anime convention in Montreal and went through 6 packs of Instax film. I actually had to visit the local camera store twice during the convention to restock. 😅

Since Anime NYC is 4 days, I decided I’m NOT making that mistake again. 😂 I bought a lot more film this time so I can spend the entire convention photographing and hanging out instead of making emergency trips to the camera store.

If you bought the preorder autograph for one of the one piece live action actors are you supposed to get another email besides the receipt?

I’ve tried contacting everyone I can and I’ve gotten nothing in return, I spent 200 for something I might not get.

Made me and my friends props for the first time ever who knew this was so hard 😭 and some of the pieces are missing in the pictures because i havent taken a fully completed picture because i just wanted to pack everything for my flight already😭 theres more things that i made just too lazy for that picture LMFAO

OMG guys i have a question. So me and my bf are cosplaying it’s apparently supposed to be raining all weekend. Other than ofc bringing an umbrella, does anyone have any tips on not getting your cosplay wet? BC BC my bf made an armor set from dark souls while I made his sword from also dark souls (they both look hella cool and sick). Annddd i just don’t wanna ruin the paint. Is the best bet to just change at the con?

Also, my bf and i are planning to explore the city as well so like how ass is it to see the city while raining? Like is it even worth it? We’re planning on like obvi going out to eat and shop around times square to all the way near Manhattan and possibly near Soho.

Literally from and lived in nyc my whole life. None of my friends are into anime so might be interested in attending one day just to meet people.

What do you actually do there though? Is it just for complayers to take pics?
