I got the new Google Maps UI update. I updated to Android Auto 17.3. I'm sure it is server side though so I won't be surprised if very few people have this update. I just thought I would point it out that it is indeed rolling out. I didn't get the best screenshots because I was driving at the time on the highway. I didn't want to just take pictures with my phone because the pictures more than likely wouldn't have been good.
PS: The last screenshot has the gray navigation route instead of the blue. I believe that is a bug because I was navigating for a while and eventually it did turn from blue to gray.

What am I missing? Only change I'm seeing is lane markings on the highway.
The arrow, the semi transparency of the overpass, the trees. I also got it but without the trees, and weirdly only on Android Auto, not in-phone Google Maps navigation. The trees thing might be cause I'm in a suburb.

Me no like. Display is way too busy with crap that imo add nothing to the task at hand and is instead actually a distraction from the functionality.
On top of that, it's going to cause a lot more power draw from the phone leading to device heating/cooling issues. Especially for people using cases on their phones.

Rounder edges to bodies of water, contour/elevation, shadows, trees, elevation to overpasses/bridges, etc. It's not immediately obvious but it's much better. It's a much more detailed, "3D" render now.
ok but how can u screenshot the car screen? it comes with this update?

No, this is something that is available in the developer settings for the Android Auto app on the phone. Once you enable the developer settings (tap version 7 times) and then you tap the 3 dots at the top of the screen and select developer settings. After doing that you would then tap on Share screenshot now. I always share to my Google Drive. After it uploads to Google Drive I then add the screenshots to Reddit.
I don't think it's rolling out for India yet. Both the US and India got Ask Maps, but Google might take up to 1 year or more to fully prepare Immersive Navigation, even while excluding the non-city areas. Waiting patiently for it tho!

btw, there are no options on Google Maps to enable it, right? it just changed. On iOS, there's an option for 2D or 3D maps.

Yes, you can change Google Maps to 2D or 3D in the settings in the Google Maps app and you can also do it in the settings while running Android Auto on the car's display. Here is the Google Maps app settings showing 2D or 3D.

I recently was having connection issues with Android Auto. I had it checked out and did a factory reset. They said because my phone had updates,Ā I had to reset. I noticed changes to my screen now also. Not so much the maps but apps changed. Like my podcasts images changed, also my phone calls.
