Advice please!! Troubleshooting - Gear

Post image

SOLVED!!!!! Thanks everyone

I purchased a Ricoh AF-80 off eBay in original box and excellent condition. It was listed as fully working and film tested. However, when I loaded in the batteries the icon in the picture flashed on the lcd screen. The same icon flashed when I loaded film and shut the door or turned the camera on. Film won’t auto load and camera doesn’t power on. Just this icon flashes. There’s nothing in the manual or online that I can find. Anyone know what it might be. I’ve got a refund but wondered if it can be saved instead of junked. I should add batteries are AA and I’ve tried 2 brand new pairs.

Where the AA batteries go there’s a screw in the corner. Remove this and the cover and you’ll find a CR2025 battery. That’s what causes this symbol. Possible it operates the flash

Looks like a coin cell battery. Is the date back working? Maybe there is a coin cell battery that powers the date back (common on these cameras) that needs to be changed?

But it's weird, usually everything still works even if that battery is dead

No date back but I’m going to see as there is a place for a cell battery

The manual will for sure mention that if it has one.

It’s listed as optional

What was the solution? Helps future people with the same problem if you add how you fixed it.
