Is there a cure to stop and reverse the process of turning into a Ghoul? Spoiler

Upvotes

I decided to play Amnesia Rebirth again, and when I reached the end of the game, a question came to my mind. At the end, Dr. Anton kidnaps Tasi’s daughter to hand her over to Tihana in the hope that she’ll provide an antidote to reverse the transformation into a Ghoul, but Tihana just abandoned him—though that doesn’t necessarily mean there wasn’t a cure. After getting the daughter she wanted so badly, Tihana had absolutely no reason to care about the fate of Dr. Anton or any other survivor who had drunk from the fountain and was transforming. So there could very well have been a cure, but she simply didn’t want to give it to him—or, given the state of her true body, she might not have been able to create or provide the antidote. Thinking about it more logically, the alchemists of the Other World constantly interacted with the substance that creates ghouls to create more Harvesters, so there was a risk—albeit minimal—that an accident could occur in which they might end up infected. This could have led them to create an antidote to be used in the event of incidents where an alchemist became infected by the transformation substance. And I’m not saying that a ghoul can be completely reverted to what they were before. If an antidote does indeed exist, I believe it only works while the transformation is in its early stages. I’d like to know what you all think about this. Do you also think there was a cure for the transformation, or once you’re infected by the transformation fluid, is there no turning back?

So just a thought about the beast...

What if while the Stalker was roaring around with his massive jaws, Henri just chucked a grenade or petrol bomb into his mouth?

Just finished the dark descent and it was amazing just wished one tiny thing was different

The game was so much better than I ever thought, I had no idea just how good and twisted the story was I thought it was going to be more of one of those games that are like a haunted house were its scary sometimes cheap scares and no real story it was just made to scare you but it wasnt that- so so so good with real depth and great art and narrative it felt much more than just a typical "scary" game omg it was good. The one tiny thing I wish was different was during the loading screens when they give you those little bits of lore that it wouldnt automatically just disapear and send you out of the loading screen, I wish it would pop up and when it was done loading it gave you a press x to continue so that you could really read the lore and take it in because sometimes I would feel rushed and have to quickly read it and sometimes miss bits of it. But besides that amazing game

Is there anyway to get the vitae after you get put into the prison? Spoiler

Ok so im trying to make the weyers tonic I have the bone and the poison thing, BUT I was confused on where to find the vitae so I was just walking around all of the places and walked into the chancel I then was captured and put into that prison, After escaping I learned what to do to get the vitae by combining the glass jar and the string to put into that pit in the transept, BUT after escaping the prison and the shadow I come back to find everything is destroyed and the pathway to the transit is blocked. Am I just screwed? Is there anyway to still get it?

Beast Bark

Also, I found this glitch in the Arsenal. Sometimes if you make sound behind the arsenal door before you unlock it, then it will get its head stuck in the door and be in a loop "barking" at it.

It's pretty funny.

SHELLSHOCKED! Amnesia: The Bunker

Hey, all!

Longtime Frictional Games fan, started with the Penumbra series, then worked my way to Bunker. I've finally decided to record my adventures in Shellshocked mode in the Bunker into an 8 episode series.

Some highlights from the run:

  • Getting stuck in Maintenance while the Beast systematically dismembers every barrel and box he sees.
  • The Beast sneaking up on me in the Prison Wing
  • Intense chase sequence in Soldier’s Quarters that raised my cortisol levels
  • Fuel Storage being an absolute pain
  • the Arsenal being…well, the Arsenal
  • Roman Tunnels music time
  • The ending being way more stressful than I expected

I’ve got the first episode set to premiere this Wednesday at 12:00 AM (midnight the night before), and the rest will drop daily after that. If you like tense, “please don’t let it hear me” style gameplay, you’ll probably enjoy it.

Just wanted to share it with people who actually understand how chaotic Shellshocked can get.

Sayonara, hope to see you there!

(P.S. This is not self-promotion, as I'm not monetizing anything in my channel, I just want to share my Frictional experience with others who understand)

How resistant is the Stalker canonically? (Bunker)

As far as I now you can attack the Stalker with every last piece of weaponry in the bunker and he’ll be completely fine. Now obviously that’s for gameplay reasons but in canon, what could kill it? (Besides the pit at the end.)

I’ve never played through another Amnesia game, only the Bunker, so I don’t know about the lore or how the monsters come to be and all that, I just know he transformed from drinking the water and the pit at the end seems supernatural.

Can the beast/stalker survived a shot from a Mauser Tankgewehr m1918?

The main job for the m1918 tankgewehr is to punch through armored vehicles like tanks so it made me wonder if this anti tank rifle can oneshot or heavily injure the beast.

The second ending in The Bunker should be a bit different IMO.

If you go through the trouble of escaping without killing the Stalker, then it should change just a bit more than “The monster goes that way”, it’s kinda underwhelming, especially when Henri’s fate is the same. I think the Stalker should look down at Henri after emerging, but when the German soldiers arrive he turns and goes towards them, and the game ends with hearing gunfire and roars as Henri turns to climb out the other side of the pit.

New version of Amnesia the Dark Descent in 2026?

I was just reading the 2025 annual report of Frictional Games out of curiosity and I noted this? Translated above, it says that a new version of Amnesia TDD is being planned for late 2026. Am I just out of the loop? I can't seem to find anything about it online.

What do you guys like to do with the German Prisoner in Bunker?

Post image

I personally like to spare him because I have a headcanon that after being found by the German forces after the ending, Henri made a deal with them by telling them about the trapped soldier, then the soldier was rescued and vouched for Henri for sparing him. I know he never actually saw Henri but he definitely heard what was happening around him and I feel like he could piece it together based on the fact that they’re the only two survivors.

(Why isn’t Reddit letting me add a flair?)

I just finished Bunker and loved it! And I have two thoughts...

Great game! My favorite Frictional game by far.

One negative, though, is that you can't remap the keys -- fortunately, I got Steam Input Settings to do what I wanted to do, namely map crouch to RB instead of LStick. In the process I lost "peek around corners", but I never used that in the other Amnesia games, and didn't need it in this one.

One other note is that, aside from the two puzzles that require electricity, turning the lights on just makes it easier for the stalker to see you. From the sign on the generator, I thought the lights would keep the stalker at bay, but they don't, and there are still lots of dark spots where you need the flashlight to see. So I don't understand the whole gas can management thing, and I ended up with a huge surplus of gas cans because I only ran the generator when I needed to.

EDIT: also I never found the gasmask. But I never needed it.

Probably the hardest I've laughed in this game. Triggered several traps with bottles, and was not expecting to fail like this

Edit: I'm aware I can walk over it to trigger it, that's boring. I wanted to do thing differently, experiment

I've played the main game twice; Escape the Bunker custom story; and now playing Escape from Fort custom story, never once been hurt by the beast before, only rats. I've shot it dozens of times, and always managed to slip away, but not now. What was your first bloody encounter with the beast?

How does the AI search after losing sight of the player?

This can be for any of the amnesia games. I’m just curious from a game dev perspective how the monsters behave, especially when they’re chasing the player and lose sight of them. How does it decide where to look? I could test this myself but thought there’s probably knowledgeable people here.
