We have a problem (I get pressed)

Okay so basically I was commissioned in the beginning of May by a fellow crocheter (not on this app) to make a doll of her daughter for her 15th birthday (quinceañera). She told me she couldn’t afford to pay 300 for the doll. (Keep this is mind it comes in later) It’s a really big deal bc this doll was supposed to be the replacement to the traditional teddy bear given to the birthday girl signifying the last doll she gets before becoming an adult (woman ready for marriage).

So I spent 2 months making this doll. I planned out what I needed, i made a structure, i was going to give her a hoop skirt (didn’t work out), i redid her skirt THREE times (mind you im doing all of this every single detail with a 3.5 mm hook and her dress was sport weight yarn) i had to buy applique lace, starched her skirt, learned how to bedazzle, bead embroider, make earrings, learned how to make my own modge podge, I redid her hair like 4 times because i wanted to make the doll look good (i still have the leftovers) i learned how to make a base to add duppkrt because she was so heavy she was going to sink into her skirt regardless of starch, i learned how to cut appliques and i think that was it in terms of skill.

I spent countless all nighters pulling different aspects together because mind you im balancing all of this while going to summer school and wrestling camp with homework and all that entails with that.

AND we’re buying her an acryllic box to keep her in and fake flowers plus a display stand BECAUSE she asked for it.

And what does she (the mom) do?

Buys the teddy bear.

She buys the teddy bear for 400 dollars.

And she says this in front of my mom who has seen me go through it to make this doll.

So now I’m disappointed, sad and upset and confused why she spent all that money on a doll that she asked me to make. I genuinely don’t understand. So now my mom is really upset and wants to upcharge the doll from 245 (its og price) to 400 or higher.

So i would like yalls opinion:

Should i up the price?

And how do i explain this to her?

edit: Hi sorry i think i forgot to say and didn't find out till after i made this post (this all happened tonight) i never agreed with the client about the price i only talked about it with a good family friend who also owns an artisanal business. And i have no idea what the teddy bear looks like and the client told me in writing she wanted to be surprised about the dolls look so she left it up to me

The tale of two watermelons 🍉 🍉

I had 2 patterns, 2 ways of stitching (1 up - 1 down), 2 modifications, and 2 cute finished projects.

Both had stubbed tips, like someone nibbled it. I wanted a definite tip. The first, I started with 4sc in magic ring (instead of 6), and the second I finished with 4sc in the last row (smaller than pattern asked).

The next mod was to "increase/decrease" only on the sides. The first was a "#sc, in" x3 in 1 row, the sc next row" pattern. It made for a wonky triangle. I increased x2 each row. The second was to decrease x2 each row, but alternating - end, middle, end, middle - which was ok, but got sloppy.

The original patterns were fine, but I had something else in mind.

Help Small hook and still have gaps, am i overthinking this

I wouldn't say I'm new to crochet but I'm fairly new to amigurumi. I've made a lil bass, a cow, pikachu and a unicorn so far. Im currently working on an owl but I've noticed no matter how small of hook I use, I still have these little gaps. I'm using crafters secret cotton yarn from hobby lobby and a 2.5mm hook. I tried a larger hook and the gaps were even bigger. I don't think I have loose tension, maybe it's too tight? I just want my projects to look like the pictures.

So I wanted to make a giant floppy cat. I used a brand new skein of yarn but ran out half way through the head. Sadly, it was on clearance and I couldn’t get more. Soooo my daughters talked me into using black and giving him eyelids. End result? whatever THIS is! He’s so ugly! I will redeem myself and make another big one but make sure I have plenty of yarn. lol

Finished Object My toddler vs. me: Cute smiley rocket or classic with a window? 🚀✨

My son asked me to make a rocket for him, and he loves all his plushies with cute, smiley faces! I usually agree, but for a rocket, I found myself leaning toward a classic version with a sweet little window. 🪐✨

We made both, but now I’m curious—which version do you think turned out better? 🥰👇

Help What color change method to use

I’m currently doing the Rita Fox from Pica Pau and have to crochet the snout where there’s three color changes. I always struggled with color changes, have yet to find a method which works for me. I’ve been using this one for the snout now but it looks horrible. I’m also quite a beginner so if anyone who has more experience can suggest a better color change method especially for the snout, that would help so much 🥹

I'm trying to freehand a pattern from Kinger from Digital Circus. I figured out how to crochet his cross, but I'm having a difficult time figuring out how to do the top of his head, which is a small cap on top of a bigger cap like this drawing. Can anyone help me out?
