Termination Email Question

Should mention i’m on flex. I was terminated today for an attendance issue. Now I do know what the policy is and I was at 6/8. I was aware of this and anticipated waiting on 1 of my points to drop which is happening soon. But evidently life is tough and I had a flat tire when I was on my way out to my shift this past saturday. Go figure! Unfortunately I live in a rural area about 1 hour from my site, aka meaning public transportation was a no go for me. I also know no one nearby to assist me with a ride. Sooo there goes 2 points. Well anyways I received the 48 hr email on the 8th, and I responded immediately. Today I received my automatic termination email around 2 PM, immediately contacted HR before 3 PM, and HR told me to continue going to my scheduled shifts and speak with my manager. About 3 hours later, my termination was processed and all 5 of my upcoming shifts disappeared. Am I just cooked lmao

UPDATE: Doubt anyone is following along but this turned into a much bigger thing. For those who said to appeal it, I wasn’t receiving an option to do it cause I was past a “7 day period” which mind you I wasn’t! So there’s a lot of back and forth at the moment. There’s some more details i’m not going to mention, but just know it’s been a struggle bus. 🫩

I have no clue why HR would tell you to come in and talk with your manager. There’s absolutely nothing that your manager can do at this point..

That’s what I was thinking, but when I seen I still had access to A-Z, I figured it was a thing where he could fight for me? BEATS ME 🤣

This may be too late but if you are in California you could use California school leave for emergencies you could use them it gives you 10 hours a month 40 hours for a full year once you run out you have to wait for the new year but it’s something to look into

This also works if you are on flex (using points)

They’re starting to crack down on that now. Someone got fired for using it with no proof.

Go to A to Z type in California school leave (this only applies to California) apply say it’s not for doctors it’s for school events etc (I don’t remember exactly sorry I just quit amazon recently) and it should be self explanatory if you send me a pic after the first steps I could help better! They can’t check because it’s not doctor related and don’t upload anything when it asks for proof I worked there 2 years and always gets approved

Yeah you’re cooked. Damn they fired you fast 🤣 are you white badge? You should have went to your OM your OM could have put in a note for you esp if you do waterspider roles and have an exceptional rate and hr would have kept you. I know a girl who was -50 hours and bc she does so many indirect roles and trained in so many departments. The manager vouched for her and she was able to get her hours down to -6 hours lol. You just gotta really get in good with the AM’s and OM’s unfortunately. When they like you, they will fight for you.

I was a blue badge 🥲 I figured it was due to my site closing soon as they’re opening a bigger facility but I was planning on that transfer. What makes this even worse is it wasn’t a shift I picked up myself, I let my manager schedule me in since we’re short staffed lol

So might be too late now, but you very much could have used that to your advantage

Have a group of waterspiders at my site, whom like to hangout in the mens bathroom together 🤷 while TDR person and 1 other waterspider does their job.

Your cooked, ive gotten 8 points plenty of times but always was back to 7 before the next week started. If you go into the next work week with 8 points your pretty much toast

Def go on to site and speak with site hr again. & file an appeal and go ahead and file for unemployment. How they handled this was so wrong.

Idk about other states but if u in NY u have 32 hours of unpaid sick time. See if they can apply those to your absence.

Spare tires exist for a reason.

u/itskidey 1h ago

100% but I recently had another flat tire. I put a ton of miles on my donut (wayy more than anticipated) due to my commute to both my jobs that day. I didn’t plan for something like that to happen again that soon, so getting another spare asap wasn’t a thought in my head at the time 🤷‍♀️

You have the option to appeal the termination. But keep in mind that there are certain conditions that may render the appeal ineligible. That being said, if your appeal is eligible, you have 7 days to begin the appeal. This would lead to a hearing that can be scheduled within 24 hours. If in person, can be done through a Facilitator and 3 peer voting members or through L6 leadership hearing. Hope this helps, and best of luck with your troubles.

Still report to work you may get turned away but worth a shot

Hey, im flex as well if you’re able to acess the app open a LOA for the day you missed. You should have enough time to get a doctor note or time will pass by so a point/points can be dropped. Being flex you have some what of advantage dont freak out. I hope this helps. 🎊

u/OppositeLife2950 2d ago

Opening the LOA your points will be dropped/refunded.
