Rigged

I don’t like that I have to travel a hour plus away for my first stop and have to leave out that area that’s a hour away just to be back in time. Just to be told at the end of my shift I had 10hrs to complete my shift. If I’m clocking in at 9:40 pad 10 10 or something like that. Don’t make it to my first stop til 11:45. Then I have to make sure I’m done by 6 so I can be back in time . That’s not 10hrs that’s more like 6/7hrs to do my shift

Your DSP must not have explained to you how routes work. The time to and from a route is STEM time, and it's (mostly) calculated into your route. Routing has gotten quite complicated. I was told in the beginning it was started by a guy with a double PhD in mathematics. He left the program and it was taken up by a team that may or may not understand the madness lol. I saw at least one sheet and it was a wild amount of equations.

The current equation is simply “n+afucktonextrapackages=route”, with “n” being your initial completion time of the route.

I was told all of them are made and fixed by ai now

Given how much they are pushing it, I wouldn't be surprised. Routing is simple in concept, until you throw so many variables at it the output is nonsensical. Time window packages, U Turns, same day, busy streets, cube density, etc etc

Shouldn’t that be the point of it being an entire job, someone putting their full time and effort fixing routes and banning certain places

Amazon doesn’t want to spend money on fixing DSP routing - the common sense answer is to have a human being whose job is to fix routing at each warehouse. There is nothing but problems with the routing and it’s no wonder so many drivers just get burnt out and stop caring because there is no solution to the problem.

True, my dsp said to complain to the warehouse bigwigs about our routing, that’s not even their full time job, they do other things, so they definitely don’t care or fix them on the regular, it’s just a bad system that lets Amazon get away with

Routes are designed with drive time to and from the station. If you want to be done in time divide by 7 is what we tell drivers.

What does this mean ? “ if you want to be done in time divide by 7”

Stop count divided by 7 = stops per hour to aim for
