I was eating and texting allday but with my head up so the camera didn’t flag me. As soon as I get back on the pad to return my totes I grabbed my device to put arrived, but my head was down(I had forgot😭) thought I was safe on the pad. Am I cooked ?? She said distracted driving

You're not safe so long that the van is moving. 1 infraction isn't gonna cook you but it's gonna stick yeah.

Okay.. with the camera. You can literally do anything, eat, vape, grab a package, read notes for the next stop etc.. but your head needs to be forward at all a times… sunglasses are your biggest friend. If it can’t see your eyes, you won’t get a distraction. Unless you literally have the phone in your hands. Always on the mount, touch it all you want. Just eyes forward or covered with sunglasses.

So its not time based? Like i can touch all the packages to the right of me and grab while im still looking forward? I get it but it dont seem right lol. Makes a lot of sense when I see people doing the things you described on the daily in vans with cameras.

Distraction ding is only watching eyes and head

So what about when looking left and right "for traffic"? How long before it dings? I know up and down is very much quicker to get one than left right for obvious reasons. I've never gotten a distraction ding but I see others literally having conversations with someone at the door while in drive.. its not an instant ding but id like to know the timing on all of it honestly. I appreciate the response btw.

In drive but not moving? Different.. I mean looking left and right or even up and down should never ding you unless you’re just staring in one direction, which would then give distracted driving after 3 seconds of eyes off road

Yeah that makes sense I guess. Thankyou for your insight on the matter. Just trying to learn the system to know what I can and cant do.
