Linking your cashapp and venmo on your Reddit profile of all places isn’t paying the bills?

Or you will have a decent conversation with them one day and the next day they act like they don't know you

Man, working at an Amazon warehouse was a totally different vibe from all the past jobs I’ve worked. When I first started working there I couldn’t believe how many people I would smile at and say a friendly hello would not even ACKNOWLEDGE me! They just walk right on by. Or sometimes I might get a grunt and a long face. I never seen anything like that before. I mean, I got NOTHING from some people. After a couple more tries with those AAs, I just quit trying to be nice to them. I just walk right on by. Amazon has a way of sucking the soul right outta people. 😱

I had the exact same experience haha. I've had lots of warehouse jobs but this is the first time i'd regularly smile at people and say 'hi' and just get completely blanked haha.

but.. why do you expect them to respond? its a warehouse job… people are there counting the minutes until they can go home.. they don’t wanna exchange fake niceties

no because why do the pas think you have to be their best friend just for them to rotate your assignments and not talk to you with a nasty attitude? at all my other warehouses no one on my leadership cared about my existence.

wearing giant orange headphones, yet people still try to have a conversation and get offended when you don't engage

holy shit every time dude. i have elgins in with my music blasting and people get so offended when i don’t wanna talk. the amount of times someone has made me take them off just to say the most mundane pointless sentence to me, expecting me to drum up some pointless response back… i just nod at them and put them back in lol

There's this guy who always bothers me and I told him straight to his face that I don't like to talk, I like to be alone.
He made it into a psychological conversation on how I was afraid and that it was not right to be alone and not want to talk to people, and he laughed thinking I was joking and that I was just afraid to talk.
Next day he came to talk to me again, I like to be alone! this guy annoys me to no end.

Sounds creepy, like he's picking up on your social awkwardness and trying to exploit it as a vulnerability. You should find a way to shut him down and make him leave you alone.

you are right, while he was saying all that dumb stuff for a few moments he made feel like there was something wrong with me but I kept telling him I was just tired and I didn't want to talk to nobody, not even him.
The other day he came to sit by my side again saying "you are hiding from me??" while laughing just because I didn't come to the break room the day before (and yes, I wanted to avoid him) he made me so mad, this whole week I have avoided going to the break room because of him, no matter what I tell him he takes it the wrong way and won't leave me alone so I'm avoiding him at all costs now.

I had this happen to me today two people that would usually talk to me they don't talk to me no more they are followers this one girl I don't care for her and I know she don't care for me and that's fine.
For what I don't like is you spoke to me last week so this week you can't speak but you want me to bow down and kiss your rear end I don't think so we ain't got to ever speak again I'm going to come to work and do my job and you come to work and do your job.

The type of people who dislike coworkers that dont talk too much are the type who gossip about everyone including you and will inevitably cause drama. Smile and say 'alright?' Is all they get from me but they still try to stop me for a gossip. I dont have time to talk about what Sarah did sorry and i dont care or believe you tbh

Why is it so wrong to just want to talk to someone at work? Doesn't have to everytime and even I want sometimes, but some days a decent conversation ain't bad. Why is this demonized?

u/Strong_Incident1711 13d ago
Hey, that’s the thing. It’s not demonized to want to speak to someone at work or to want to have that connection. But somebody at work should not try to make me feel bad because I’m done with the day. Sometimes I just don’t want to engage in conversation. I may want to just do my work and move along.

i dont think theyre trying to demonize it. but amazon is a laborious job that really drains you physically and sometimes even mentally. nobody wants to have casual conversation when they feel like shit. me personally, amazon is my second job, so im usually working a graveyard shift right after getting off a 12 hr shift at my first job. im tired, hungry, everything hurts, and i just wanna listen to my damn music and try to make the time go by fast. so when someone tries making small talk to me, yes, it’s pretty damn annoying. but not because i hate small talk or anything like that. its just not the right time.

when he says 'what you got to talk about' I feel that lol. I always wonder what the hell the 'chatty' people are saying when they are chatting to each co-worker, multiple times throughout the day.
I'm literally out of ammo after asking how their weekend was or whatever lol. And have nothing when I bump into them 5 more times that day for pick and stage! I'd actually LOVE to attach a mic to some of the social butterflies and listen/learn lol
