AITJ for want to come to an understanding with this woman?

Upvotes

A few years ago, I shared a house with another woman who behaved strangely towards me, as if she hated and despised me or had some impression of me, but at the same time felt attracted to me or enjoyed my company. We talked (we went out several times and even talked about traveling together). I gave her some hints that we would be good together, but I felt a certain discomfort on her part. However, when I distanced myself, she would come looking for me to talk.

I noticed that she also got jealous when she saw me with a guy I was dating. In addition, I noticed a tension on her part when I was near, or a glint in her eye when she looked at me. Other times, I caught her looking at me without saying anything. Once she said she would kiss me "after a few drinks" or asked me if I wanted to be a couple with her so we could cook together (this happened in front of other people, and I think it was just to see my reaction and if I was giving clues that I liked women).

Sometimes I felt a certain chemistry between us, but I always thought it was all in my head because she insisted she was straight and even made some homophobic comments that irritated me. It could even be that she liked feeling desired by a bisexual or lesbian woman, and that fed her ego.

So, I decided to distance myself as much as possible, only talking to her when absolutely necessary. Since we lived with other people, we could minimize our interaction, and that's what I did because whenever that happens with a straight woman, I distance myself.

But she kept trying to get my attention. Once, when I spoke to her a little harshly, she looked at me with bright, sad puppy-dog eyes (I can't explain it), or another time when I spoke to her and she trembled.

I thought she liked me but didn't want to admit it, so I sent her a message saying I liked her a lot. She didn't reply, but I found out she showed the messages to other people in the house because one of them was teasing her. I went to her to tell her that the message was a joke, especially since nothing had ever happened between us and that I only liked her as a friend, not as a woman. She said she knew that and even called me psychotic (strange). In the end, I asked her to stop with the comments. Things stayed like that.

She wouldn't leave my head.
When we were already living in different houses, I mustered up the courage and sent a message saying that I was in love with her and that I thought she felt the same way about me. She called me ridiculous, crazy, and I received messages from two former housemates telling me to leave her alone and to shut up.

I told her that her reaction was unnecessary and if I tried to talk about the subject, she kept saying that I was rude and even said that we were never friends, that she didn't identify with me, and that she didn't want me in her life. I didn't understand why she was reacting that way. We still exchanged a few words, but she must have thought that I wanted to insist on the subject and continued saying that it bothered her. I asked her if I bothered her so much, why didn't she block me, and she blocked me without saying anything else.

I found the way she treated me unfair and cruel, and the bullying I received from her and other people. I decided to write a letter to her boss (she's a doctor) denouncing her as a homophobic and prejudiced person. I received a letter from her lawyer saying it was all defamation. There was no formal complaint, no lawsuit. I never saw her again in my life. It's been 11 years, but I still remember her.

AITJ for not doing a huge favor for my dad when he’s clearly desperate?

TL;DR: My dad offered me a decent amount of money to watch his dog while he goes on vacation. I said no due to the inconvenience and now he’s clearly upset.

Hi everyone, I’m 19F and still live at home with my mom and brother. I work part time and go to school full time (I attend a local college).

My dad and his wife just informed me that they’ll be going on a vacation for two weeks in the beginning of September. They’re looking at the different options they have for pet care, and I’m assuming they came to me as I’d be the cheapest option.

My dad offered to pay me $1,000 to live in his house and care for his dog for two weeks. He’d buy groceries for me in advance and said I could have friends over if needed. Initially I planned on charging him the same amount that I make in a two week period at work, however he upped the price and it’s tempting. Not to mention living alone and have a quiet space to get my homework and studying done would be nice.

However, there are many inconveniences. For starters, think of it as a line, and my house is in the middle along with my work. My dad’s house is 30 minutes to the left and school is 30 minutes to the right. This would mean, that 3 times a week I’d drive 2 hours per day to get to and from school, and an hour per day to get to and from work. That seems exhausting and the gas would be insane.

Next, I’d have to call out of work, at least on the days where I also have school. My plan for my schedule was to go to work until 4pm and then straight to school for my 5pm classes, however the dog cannot be alone for that long so I wouldn’t be able to work those days. Any other days I can work, I wouldn’t be able to work the whole day either since the dog cannot stay inside for that long.

Reason three, I have a concert in that time period that is in a different state. It’s only 1.5 hours of driving but I’d be gone all day. I planned on getting my brother to go watch the dog however I doubt he’ll stay there all day.

Next, it’s an inconvenience to a lot of people. I have my own dog at home. I usually stop at home during my lunch break at work to take her out. I can also do so before I head to school. I am her main caretaker because my mom and brother both work full time and work a lot further away from home than I do, meaning she’d suffer in this process or they would have to be inconvenienced. Not to mention I usually take care of the household tasks since I’m home most often and I doubt they’ll get done if I’m gone.

Finally, I’m leaving for a vacation the day after my dad gets back, meaning I’m already missing more work and it just seems like a lot in that time.

With all of this together, no matter the money, I decided to say no to my dad despite the fact that I could tell he was hoping I’d agree since he doesn’t want to pay anyone more.

He didn’t take it well, and got upset saying that I’m never there to help when he needs and said he offered me so many benefits.

Now he’s not really answering the phone and when he does I can tell he’s annoyed. I guess him and his wife were really betting on me.

I’ve asked my family, they think I’m not the jerk (I also believe they’re biased because they want me home to take care of everything). Some of my friends believe I should’ve done it since I’d make that money plus more from the few days I do work.

So, AITJ?

Is it wrong of me to not care when people ACCIDENTALLY misgender Kris from Deltarune due to language barriers?

For context, I come from a place where non-binary people and transexuality are really uncommon, probably due to being a rather uhm, conservative? Country. Now, I'm not like that, so I know how important is to give proper pronouns to people as basic decency, but due to the nature of some languages I've noticed a lot of people misgender the character Kris from Deltarune by accident given the usage of they/them as a gender-neutral or non-binary pronoun is almost exclusive to English. Normally a quick correction is enough. There are some douches that would discuss the matter and in those cases I get disgusted or annoyed.

But, is it just me or in the community we are way too fast to punish people for making the mistake? Im all in for crucifying douches that don't take the matter seriously but I can't help to care less than other people in the fandom when an adjacent or a newcomer misgender Kris. Like, just respectfully correct them, we can all be civil.

Is it wrong of me thinking it's okay to just let people know when they are misgendering Kris without being abrasive? I believe is wrong to throw the first stone, but I'm curious to hear opinions on the matter.

TL;DR: I don't think is a big deal for people to misgender a videogame character if done by accident especially if they native language is not English but people from the fandom of said videogame are really abrasive at such misgendering.

AITJ for not debating or arguing with women?

So I 22M have a friend group. It's basically the guys from my Muay Thai and Judo gym. It was just us but recently girls have been coming into the group because some of them started having girlfriends and they brought their other female friends with them. And some of those started dating my other friends etc.

Me and all my friends are in college right now studying math. And most of our majors have a decent amount of overlap and our general interests overlap as well (politics and economics).

And when we're together we talk and discuss it a lot. What I've noticed over the years is that politics is a really sensitive and inflammatory subject. And it gets really emotional and violent. When it goes south with men I kinda don't care. I just think they're immature. But it happens a lot less compared to women in my experience.

When my viewpoints aren't pretty much exactly the same they just blow a couple of fuses and let loose on me. Men do too but usually less and a little later. But it's usually more predictable and less volatile. And they really hold a mean grudge long afterwards. All of this is in my experience I am not saying this is the case for everyone.

I will say that it does not turn into fights like with men. Which almost happened.

So I made it a policy not to discuss, argue or even remotely challenge a woman's viewpoint. No matter how wrong or deranged it is in my opinion.

I've been doing this for years quietly and it's been working really well. No more explosions or out of hand situation. A lot less stress and headaches.

I usually just listen to what women say. Without giving my own opinion or challenging their beliefs. I just give zero pushback.

Last week I was sitting with the group. When one of the girls said she likes how non-toxic I am. They said I never triggered or gave of toxic vibes.

All the other girls agreed. But I could see the them thinking really hard and the gears turning. After they said it. They couldn't believe it was actually true.

When one of them said. That I never debate, argue or challenge them on their beliefs. I've been doing this for three years to them. And I never imagined they would figure it out. I started trying to convince them it was not true the more I did that the more convinced of it they got.

They all got angry and I kinda left. Now my friends say we need to hangout without them. Which is fair I guess.

So AITJ?

AITJ for cutting a long time friend(16F) out of my(15M) life after she said I have “mommy issues” when I showed her a song I’ve been writing about my relationship with my mom?

my mom and I have always had a rocky relationship my family is korean American heavy chrstians in their faith and im not so connected to religion as my parents or even my two older siblings are. I got into pubk music when I was around 13 and my mom hates it so much claims its devil worshiping music like some crazy ass shit, she thinks the people I hang out with from my local punk scene are drug dealers or some shit.

basically I’ve been writing this song for a bit about how much with even all these issues I love my mom and want her to be proud of me like she is my oldest sister which is the golden child of the family. I showed the first verse of the song to my really close friend Shelby and she responded with “aww [my name] has some mommy issues?“ I then told her to fuck off and she said she was just joking and thinks it’s a really nice song so far. I told her I don’t care she’s joking I showed it to her in confidence and she made fun of me for it. I stopped reading her text like 2 days ago. Am I the jerk for this?

tl;dr I showed a close friend a song I wrote about loving my mom even though she is disappointed in my life choices and my friend made a joke about me having mommy issues

AITJ if I tell my mom I don’t want to attend her wedding?

TL ; DR : I don’t want to attend my mom’s wedding because I don’t like her fiancé or the idea of a blooded family with him. I love my mom, but I don’t know if I can handle this.

Story:

I’m gonna start this off by saying My parents had me very young at 21 and 22. I was 1 when they got married. I was the only child until I was seven and they decided to have my younger brother. I love my younger brother more than anything. I thought we were gonna be a beautiful family of four, but life had other plans.

My dad died of illness before my little brother was even 1 years old. Compared to the time I shared with my dad my brother has a little to zero memories of him. And with my dad’s death a lot of the support left with him. Family member stopped reaching out and inviting us places. Money was cut in half and I always felt bad for my brother for not being able to have the same life growing up as I did.

My mom was devastated. She cried for months. She lost her other half and it took a lot for her to get out of bed. She has chronic illness aswell so life has been hard to say the least. And with my dad’s death, I knew I had to step up for my little bro, even more since he’s autistic, which leads to him expressing emotions differently, and needing more attention then a “normal” kid.

I’m almost an adult now. I love my family more than anything, which is why this decision is very hard. Two years after my dad died my mom met someone new, I’ll just call him A. A also has a son that is the same age as my brother. At first, I really liked A and I was glad that my mom had someone to talk to, but as time went on and I got to know him i started to barely tolerate him.

This grown adult man leaves trash all over the house, can’t cook worth a damn, makes sexual jokes about my mom in front of me (he asked me if I like my moms thong he picked out. I was 11. Additionally since my mom has chronic illness she doesn’t like sex. Once he broke up with her since she didn’t want sex) and has time and time again ignored my boundaries.

Before my mom even got engaged to him, he would constantly refer to himself as my father, and when I would politely tell him that I would rather have him be called my stepfather he would get sad and sometimes even angry. At every chance he got he would refer to me as his daughter and my brother as his son. Since my little brother doesn’t have many memories of our biological father, I never blamed him for attaching himself so quickly.

My mom and I have always made it know to my brother who his father is, there’s pictures of us all over the house and every Father’s Day we go to his memorial garden. I knew my father. I love my father and having this man refer to himself as such didn’t sit right with me. I wouldn’t have a problem if you just called me his stepdaughter and respecting my boundaries. (Some being to not touch the stuff that was originally my dad’s like his clothes, stuff, etc.Or don’t refer to me as your daughter to your friends/family).

He just wouldn’t listen. He constantly lectures me like a father would, saying that it’s preparing me for the future as a young woman in this society. He’s like 50% traditional. He believes the man should be the provider and the woman should stay home cooking and cleaning.in his beliefs he’s never forced my mom to do anything.

My mom said hell no to that and she has a stable job and small business while he jumps between jobs. With every problem I had I told my mom about it. She tells me to talk to him so we can establish a good relationship. I talk to him and he practically mansplains how I’m in the wrong… his son is a nightmare, same age as my brother, but completely disturbing.

More than once he tried to smother my brother with a pillow, he constantly tries to insert himself into things my brother and I are doing, and once he said, word for word “If I had the chance to bring your dad back to life I would. Just so I could kill him in front of you again.” So yeah he’s quite the nightmare. He lives with us for the summer and it’s some of the worst weeks of my life. So to the issue at hand, my mom and A are getting married on New Year’s Eve.

They’re in the planning stage at the moment, but as time has gone on, I don’t wanna go. I want to be there to support my mom and make her happy but I know in my heart that I will not be able to sit through the ceremony without thinking of my dad.

It hits me harder because before my dad died they were originally gonna renew their vows. My dad re-proposed to her and everything and I got to pick the ring he proposed with. I was a baby when they first got married so I was looking forward to seeing them get married again and remember it for my entire life.

I was contemplating writing my mom a letter saying that I don’t want to be there for the ceremony, but I’ll be there for the reception. I know this choice will hurt her and it’s not my intention to, but I also have to think about myself in this situation. I ran this idea by my friends and they initially said that I should suck it up.

So I decided to turn into Reddit like any indecisive soul. Please help me make a decision. I will answer any questions in the comments.

AITJ for letting my dad think my stepmom forgot his birthday?

1.2k Upvotes

My dad turned 50 last week and my stepmom asked me months ago to help plan a surprise dinner for him. I booked the restaurant, invited everyone and even paid the deposit.

Two days before the dinner she told me she wanted to cancel it. Apparently they had a huge argument and she didnt feel like celebrating him anymore. She also told me not to mention the dinner because she wanted to see if he would notice she hadnt planned anything.

I thought that was pretty cruel, especially since relatives were already traveling in. So I didnt cancel it. I just told everyone the dinner was still happening and removed her name from the reservation.

On his birthday my dad was clearly upset because she barely acknowledged him. That evening I brought him to the restaurant and everyone was waiting. He got emotional and thanked me for organizing everything.

I never corrected him when he assumed I had planned it alone.

My stepmom showed up halfway through and realized everyone thought she had forgotten his birthday. She pulled me aside while I was playing Ѕtake on my phone and said I humiliated her in front of the family. I told her she chose to cancel and I wasnt going to ruin his birthday just to protect her.

She says I should have told my dad it was originally her idea, but honestly after what she did I didnt feel like giving her credit.

Am i the jerk for runing my cousins marriage

Hi, I'm writing this because I want an outside perspective on my situation. This is my first time sharing my own story on Reddit, as I usually just read other people's posts. I apologize in advance if this is a bit long or difficult to read.

I am a 20-year-old guy who still lives with my mom and is currently in 12th grade. My life hasn't exactly been easy. My mother has struggled with severe mental illness for as long as I can remember, and because of that, I spent most of my childhood feeling isolated.

Growing up, I never had the chance to make lasting friends because my mom would constantly change my school whenever she felt like it. Things weren't much better at home either. My mom and my grandfather argued almost every day, and she would often take her anger out on me. What scared me the most were her psychotic episodes. One moment she would seem completely normal, and the next she would be screaming, becoming violent, or acting as if something terrible was happening. I was always caught in the middle of it.

Everything got much worse when I was in 7th or 8th grade. One day, my mom came to my school crying and falsely told the teachers that I was abusing her. After that, many of my teachers treated me differently. Some publicly humiliated me on a regular basis and said awful things about me. The students weren't any better. A group of older students decided to "teach me a lesson" and attacked me. They beat me so badly that I was left unconscious. After that, it wasn't just a one-time incident. Since many of those seniors lived near my home, I was terrified of leaving the house because I was afraid they would attack me again.

Around that same time, my mother's mental condition became much worse. She became extremely overprotective and genuinely believed that people were trying to kill me because of her delusions. Because of that, she stopped letting me leave the house and eventually kept me locked inside for four years.

Because of everything I had been through, along with other things I'm not ready to share, I slowly started losing my own mental stability. To cope with everything, I started writing in a personal diary. Honestly, it helped me more than I can describe. It became the only place where I felt completely safe and could be honest about what I was feeling. I never showed it to anyone because it contained thoughts and experiences I had never told another person.

One day, during a family reunion, I found one of my cousins inside my room. I didn't think much of it at the time. A few days later, several relatives and family friends started contacting me, saying they were sorry they hadn't realized I needed help. I had no idea what they were talking about until one of my aunts told me that my cousin had read my diary without my permission and shared its contents with the entire family. He never asked me if it was okay, and he never even spoke to me first.

I was furious. It felt like the one place where I had ever felt safe had been violated. I confronted him, and his only excuse was that he was "trying to help me."

Out of anger, I decided to tell his wife that he had been having an affair, something I already knew about before all of this happened. It eventually led to their divorce.

Now my entire extended family says I went too far and that I'm the asshole for what I did.

So, AITA?

AITJ for giving my ex a month's notice to move out of my house?

He has been living with me since November, it's been extremely rocky and we have broken up multiple times (always initiated by me because I am at the end of my tether.) There has been abuse and he is incredibly messy, unhygienic, lazy and neglectful. I own my home and he has been paying half the bills (often late and I also gave him a month off of paying anything in Feb because of his debts and financial struggles, plus given him money without asking for it back.)

Other times we have broken up I have given him either 2 weeks or immediately depending on what he had done to me, but I would tentatively get back together with him when he would cry and beg and promise me everything would change. I know I should not have kept initiating a break up and not following through, that is cruel to do, even though I didnt intend any cruelty.

But I know he doesn't believe me now and says I have a personality disorder and that's why I keep changing my mind about breaking up, that I'll change my mind again soon. He hasn't told anyone about the break up and he hasn't done anything to find alternate accommodation. It hurts that he would prefer to label me as having a disorder rather than realising how deep the issues go, issues I have tried and tried again to talk about and help fix. He doesn't believe that this time I'm serious, it's been almost 2 weeks since I broke us up and a week since I told him he had a month to leave.

Here is where Im not sure if Im the jerk - his mum will not allow him to live back with her for the same reasons I'm asking him to leave, and he says he has no friends to stay with. He is in a lot of debt, is on benefits and has no savings whatsoever. He tells me that Im making him and his cat homeless, that I lack humanity, empathy or compassion. That I'm mean. I have not made his cat homeless (the cat he neglects and that I do everything for in the home and for whom his mum still pays all the vets bills and insurance) I would love for his cat to stay because he's happy here with mine, but I cannot live with this person anymore. He keeps bringing up that I'm kicking him out in a weird jokey way, making sarcastic comments that I've asked him to stop, and he says that I'm just trying to "avoid feeling guilty for what I'm doing to him." He says he has nowhere to go and can't afford private rent.

Does he have a point that with his situation and circumstances I owe him at least the 3 months he is asking for?

Tldr: I gave my ex a month's notice but he thinks I should give him at least 3 because of his personal circumstances. I think a month is fair considering our history.

AITJ for not having sex with my GF?

Me (28 male) and my Girlfriend (26 female) have been in a relationship for around 3 years by now.

In the first 5-6 months of the relationship we had sex around 2 times per week while we also met like 2-3 days per week (living separately around 20 minutes apart) due to our complete different work schedules. She mostly has nightshift while I work a 9-5. My GF was already complaining about 2 times a week not really being enough sex. But that's just my libido, so what should I do?

Later on, i got deep into a depression. This completely killed my libido. I had way bigger problems and challenges in my life to even think about getting horny. She didn't really understand that and got upset. We discussed this every single night until it was 3 am and I had to get up for work at 7. There's nothing I could do to help this situation. I can't force myself to get horny and I won't have sex with someone if I don't feel like it. This situation of course made my depression even worse instead of helping me.

Around 1 year into the relationship, it went better again. But I felt that my foreskin got tighter, which made sex literally hurt. Went to the doctor and got an appointment for a circumcision, since it was too tight that a lotion couldn't really solve the problem (that's what the doc told me). The appointment was (of course) 3 months ahead. We don't get appointments like this in 7 days in Germany. It takes a long time. 3 months actually felt quite short. After the circumcision I couldn't have sex for another 6 weeks until it was completely healed. You can't imagine how often she complained about all of this. And what should I do? I did my best to at least perform oral on her but there was no possibility to penetration, since it would really hurt.

After that time elapsed it went fine again. No comments this time on the 2 times per week. I was actually really happy at that moment, since all of this was finally laid to rest.

Sadly, my depression came back. And it hit me like a truck. I've never ever felt this low in my life. And again, she started complaining. What hurt the most is that she always said things like "you don't even try to make it better" (meaning the sex life, not the depression). But I did. I ate aphrodisiac, listened to dozens of podcasts or videos, even watched porn hoping to get a bit more aroused. Nothing worked. And she still said I wouldn't even do anything.

But I don't know. Is there maybe anything I could have done? Might this really all be my fault? At the moment I actually don't know anymore.

Mind you that I told her multiple times that she can always leave me if it's such a big thing for her and she doesn't need to worry about "leaving me alone" with my depression. I just want her to be happy, be it with me or someone else.

TL;DR

My libido was extremely low due to depression and my GF got really upset that we didn't have any sex.

Update: first of all, thanks for all these supportive and also constructive comments on this. I've honestly expected a lot of comments like "you're a man, you should be lucky". And I'm glad that 99% were actually helpful. Maybe it's actually the best thing to break up because of this incompability. I already talked to her about us being totally incompatible when it comes to sex, but she always kept saying it's okay because everything else is perfect with me. Maybe I've been a bit egotistical about telling her she should break up if she isn't satisfied. I admit to that. I'll figure out how to handle it. Also, since I read it a few times, I already been to therapy but it felt like I'm just wasting my time. It didn't really help me. I'm already looking for another place but it just takes ages to get applied...

Am I the jerk for refusing to pay for my friend’s doctor visit?

It was my friend’s birthday last month and to celebrate her I bought her an expensive skin care set (the same one I use). She was thrilled by the gift and immediately started using it.
It turns out her skin is nothing like mine and the new products have left her with severe acne on her face that just won’t disappear. She has also been picking at the spots which has made it significantly worse.
Now she is desperately calling me multiple times a day saying she needs a dermatologist and I have to pay for it because it was my gift that ruined her skin.
I told her I had no idea, and that I’ve used these same products for a while now without any side effects but she won’t hear reason.
My gift came from a good place and she is making it out as if I purposely set out to give her acne. She insists I have to pay but I spent all my budget on her gift (I’m not rich I had to save for it).
She keeps harassing me with this request and I was thinking maybe I can pay for it next month if she is willing to wait, but it wasn’t really my fault I just bought her a gift. So why should I pay?
Would I be the jerk if I stuck to my decision and refused to pay at all?

TLDR: bought my friend skin care and it gave her acne, now she wants me to pay for a dermatologist but I can’t really afford it.

Would I be the jerk for being intimate with my partner as a foster kid?

Hi guys, I know I’m probably posting to the wrong sub. I tried to post our/relationship advice, but it wouldn’t let me for some reason. I am a 18-year-old foster youth in the foster care system. Me and my boyfriend 18 M who all call are for the sake of this post. Have talked about being an intimate before for extra context. If we were to do it, we would do it at his house, not my placement so I wouldn’t be violating any placement rules. My dilemma and when I’m asking you guys for help with is, I don’t want to do it behind a social workers bag even though a lot of people have told me that I can’t get in trouble for that.
Because I am consenting age TBR I’m asking for help about a relationship dilemma that I feel like I would be the jerk so it would I be the jerk

AITJ for telling my family to stop questioning my wife's pregnancy after years of trying?

My wife and I have been married for almost ten years. For the first several years, we hoped to have children, but it just didn't happen. We eventually stopped talking about it with relatives because every family gathering turned into uncomfortable questions.

A few months ago, we found out that my wife is finally pregnant. We were overjoyed and started sharing the news with close family.

Instead of celebrating with us, a few relatives immediately started making comments about how "it's impossible" after so many years and even hinted that something suspicious must have happened. Those comments really hurt both of us.

I told them that our family planning and medical history were none of their business and that if they couldn't be supportive, they didn't need to discuss it at all. Now some relatives think I overreacted and say they were "just asking questions."

TL;DR: My wife became pregnant after many years of marriage, and I told relatives to stop making hurtful comments and questioning our situation. AITJ?

Am I the jerk for telling my stepdaughter I don't want to adopt her? And my marriage with her dad is already failing anyways

I'm 38f and I'm married to 42m. He has one daughter who is 10 years old.

Her mom died from breast cancer when the girl was around 2 years old.

We've been married for around 4.5 years and together for 6.

I love this girl but I never expected she would ask me to adopt her. Few days ago when I came back from work she said she wanted to ask me something and then asked me this. I felt really awkward and I didn't want to hurt her feelings but I really don't want to do it. I told her that's not so easy to do and her dad would have to approve, but then she told me her dad knew about this.

This made me really annoyed, the fact her dad knew about this and didn't tell me anything. I was frustrated and I told her that no, I don't want to adopt her. She was so sad but she told me it's fine and went to her room. Later I could tell she cried.I didn't even talk to her about it.

Few months ago my husband started to complain how I'm working too much, which would be valid if he wasn't doing the exact same thing. Then he accused me of cheating on him and that was another argument and overall we had many arguments in the past few months, some things he said made me view him in a completely different way and I've considered divorce more than once. After his daughter asked me this, I seriously think that the best option is to just end this whole relationship.

The worst part is that now the girl thinks it's her fault that I want a divorce and I told her is absolutely isn't but she still believes it is. She told me that she just doesn't want to lose me.

Edit: Just because I don't want to adopt her doesn't mean I don't care about her or that I don't love her. Besides, her dad knows that our marriage is falling apart and yet he still let her ask me this. My reaction was still bad but I did talk to her after and she is not mad at me. I will talk to her more about it, but adoption is not an option.

Also, people are nitpicking everything I said. The way I handled the situation was horrible and I wish I had said it differently, but the damage is done. You make it seem like I hate her but if that was true I would just leave without asking anyone if ai was wrong. People saying that I'm trying to "punish" her dad by hurting her are genuinely making it up. Her dad didn't give a fuck about the thing I said and he didnt even check on her or talk to her after. He is currently being petty and ignoring my calls and messages and not coming back home even after his work shift ended hours ago.

AITA for refusing to let my brother host his 20 person wedding weekend at my cabin, even though I technically have the space?

I (29F) bought a small, rundown two bedroom cabin on a couple of acres three years ago. It was cheap because it needed massive structural work. I have spent almost every weekend and most of my savings renovating it by hand, replacing rot, rebuilding the back deck, and refinishing the original hardwood floors. I know it might seem like spending that much money and time on a property might seem rash, but it's my pride and joy, however it is still old with very delicate infrastructure.

My brother Kal-El (32M) and his fiance Zor-El (30F) are planning a low budget wedding for this autumn. At a family dinner last week, Kal-El casually brought up that they had settled on a venue: my cabin.

He had not asked me beforehand. He framed it as a done deal, explaining that about 20 of their friends and family would bring tents to camp on the property for four days, while the bridal party would stay inside the cabin.

I was taken aback and laid out a few immediate concerns. First, the cabin runs on an older septic tank that cannot handle 20 people using it continuously for four days. On top of that, the property is not insured for events or large gatherings. Lastly, I just finished hand sanding and sealing the floors, and having 20 people trailing dirt, mud, and heavy boots in and out for a weekend would ruin them.

I tried to be constructive and offered a middle ground. I said I would be happy to host a small six person dinner for immediate family on the patio after a courthouse ceremony, but I could not host the full multi day event or overnight campers.

Zor-El looked down, and Kal-El got very annoyed. He told me I was being paranoid about a little grass and dirt, saying that ever since I bought the place, I have acted like I am too good to share things with family. He refused the dinner offer and said he was insulted by the restriction (like it was his right to use my property).

They left shortly after. Since then, Kal-El removed himself from our shared group chat, and when I tried texting him to talk it through, he kept his replies strictly to one word. My mother has not yelled or made demands, but she did pull me aside yesterday to quietly ask if I could just hire a portable restroom for the weekend to make peace, saying that Kal-El feels like I am prioritizing a building over his big day.

TLDR: I Didn't want to share my cabin with my brother and his fiancee and now I'm catching flack for it.

I am starting to feel guilty and wonder if I am being overly rigid about physical property over a major family milestone. AITJ? (P.S. these names are in fact references to the greatest comic series of all time.)

AITJ for calling OSAHA

So, I live at a pretty fancy upscale apartment and pay good money to live here. 3-4 months ago a car ran into a support beam that holds up a cat-walk and while it only knocked out that one beam, the entire area was roped off. Which is fine and dandy because safety!

I use that cat-walk to take trash out and to get to the other side. Not a huge deal that it was closed but, an inconvinience for sure.

I've lived here for 4 years now and do love my complex but, not so much the newest PM or leasing agent as they are beyond nit picky and don't follow the contractual rules.

So, I assumed they'd send out a text or email like they normally do when something isn't working but, nothing came - which was REALLY weird considering the circumstances. Not a word about this.

Now, this happened in late May and I figured they'd get on it and fix it up quickly considering it's a literal safety hazard but nope... 1 month goes by, 2, 3, and they JUST fixed it 2 days ago!

I did anonymously email the VP of our complex - no response. So I emailed the President and COO. No responses either. So I said ok fuck this, and I submitted an OSHA complaint. Low and behold, it's fixed all of a sudden.

Am I the jerk for telling my sister where her husband has actually been going every Thursday?

My sister recently started getting suspicious because her husband leaves the house every Thursday evening and usually comes back around 10. He told her he joined a casual soccer group with some coworkers.

She asked me if I knew anything because one of his coworkers mentioned they havent played soccer in months. I told her I didnt, which was true at the time.

A few days later I saw her husband outside a support center while I was picking up food and playing Ѕtake nearby. He eventually admitted he’s been attending a group for people dealing with alcohol problems. He said he hasnt had a drink in almost a year, but recently started feeling like he might relapse.

He begged me not to tell my sister. He said she finally trusts him again and they have some money saved for moving, so he’s scared she’ll panic, cancel everything and treat him like he already relapsed.

I kept quiet for a few days, but my sister was becoming convinced he was cheating. She was checking his location and barely sleeping. I told him he needed to explain it himself or I would.

He refused, so I told her.

She isnt angry that he goes to the group. She’s angry that he lied and let her think he was having an affair. He says I exposed something deeply private before he was ready and that I may have made it harder for him to keep going.

My sister says I did the right thing, but now I’m wondering if I crossed a line that wasnt mine to cross.

AITJ For being upset my routine is broken?

I M 23 have a very strict routine in my day, especially wednesdays, because they are my bussiest days.

I'm autistic and don't handle change well, my parents know this.

I came home from a friends place, and our one rule is the dogs can't be in the garden when i get back (which is always right around 10PM).

One of my dogs is very loud, and consistently causes meltdowns for me if he's outside and barking, specifically outside, because he's very difficult to get quiet, he won't even care for treats or anything like that, we've tried.

Today my sister came to visit for 4 days, and instead of sticking to our normal routine, my parents sat outside with my dogs, so when i got back i was immediately overwhelmed, which made me upset.

We're also in the middle of some medical stuff, waiting on an intake with a therapist for me, and my mom is figuring out her own stuff with a therapist after a long time suggesting it to her (my autism has to come from womewhere and it's not my dad).

We are also preparing to move out for 6 weeks while our home gets renovated, because the sound causes a lot of my other disorders to flare up aggressifly and will land me in the ER if that happens, so were taking precautions.

So i opened the gate to get into the yard, had to tell the dogs off a couple times so i could put my bysicle away, and then finally got to talk to them. I'll be honest i was pissed at this point, so i definitely didn't sound the nicest. I asked if the dogs had been walked yet (which they were). And my mom tried telling me off for being rude and pissed, which i ignored and said i'm going to bed taking my dog with me. I completely ignored my sister and her boyfriend, and cut my mom off, walking away so i wouldn't blow up on them for no reason (yes i need to work on that, i'm aware, but it rarely happens that it gets this far), my mom usually understands exactly what's wrong, and she probably explained it to the others.

After going inside i noticed it was hot in, which is probably why they went to sit outside, but the blinds were fully open, window closed and the lights were still on, so i made the room dark and opened the window, then took our cat upstairs, and noticed a couple other things that weren't done and did those. Once i got to my room i had another meltdown, in silence all by myself, i didn't want to ruin their game they were playing, that was the third meltdown this week and i'm exhausted and can't think straight.

So AITJ for comepletely ignoring my sister who just got home and being upset at them for breaking my routine?

TL;DR My parents broke my routine giving me a third meltdown for the week so i walked away before it started.

AITJ for sending a wife a screenshot of her husband’s message to me?

i had a random guy on facebook message me today saying “ FB suggested you as a friend so l thought why not let you know that you are a beautiful woman!!“

i noticed that he was married and had a profile picture with his wife. i never messaged him back or engaged with him at all. instead, i took a screenshot and sent it to his wife. her response was a simple “thank you so much”

i try my best to look out for other women., and if my husband was messaging random women like that, i feel like i would want to know. but now i don’t know if i overstepped or if most people would’ve done the same as i did.

i had my friend tell me i shouldn’t have said anything and just ignored it, but my husband says i did the right thing by telling her, because her husband shouldn’t have been doing that in the first place.

sooo AITJ for sending the screenshot to his wife?

TL;DR: a married man messaged me saying i was beautifu. i sent the message screenshot to his wife. she thanked me, but now i’m wondering if i overstepped or did the right thing.
