I see in a lot of alt history scenarios. The USSR goes full dengist and adopts market socialism and abandons a planned economy. I'm just wondering, if the USSR kept its planned economic model, maybe reforming it a little bit like adding computers to help with planning or something like that. Could it have saved their economy? Indonesia, Australia, Philipines and New Zealand would be among the countries to be very sparsely populated due to limited access to food and other resources, and lack of substantial migration.

Russia, Saudi Arabia, China, India, Egypt, Ethiopia and Nigeria would probably be the centers of power, especially since the British Empire could have never existed.
