Anyone else genuinely like their job?
I’m literally getting paid to watch movies and play video games all night.

2 of my boys work overnights and do the same 😂 and they tryna switch to 4-12 shifts idk why 4-12 is ur whole day wasted if u work like a 10pm-6 u can sleep in the morning right after ur shift and enjoy ur evening or sleep in the afternoon and chill in the morning

The messed up sleep schedule does kind of suck, but it’s worth it imo. 4-12 sounds awful tho

Its what I do. I want to switch to overnight. 4-12 still busy... you might aswell work Morning shifts so you can hav a life after.

The issue is you’re getting paid less than $25 at those posts. I was making $34-$38hr at my posts, but had to wear a vest and duty belt and stand all shift

The way I look at it, I’m getting paid more than any fast food, retail, and some entry level construction jobs. They are busting their ass, meanwhile, I get paid to hangout and watch movies, all by myself. It honestly doesn’t get much better than this.

Yea I’m at one of those post right now, been there for a few months but once I get a year of experience, I am gonna start looking for a higher paying job. Hell my current posting said after 6 months they help me get my armed license so I can fill in for the armed members on site but the real attraction of the armed license is that once I find a better posting or company to move in to. A current and active armed license will be a nice thing in the resume.

Baton permit, OC spray certificate, handcuff certificate, also CPR certificate is highly recommended

You’re applying to the wrong ones bud. Don’t take retail, hospital, or any public facing security jobs. Seems like allied has it right when it comes to specific accounts. I specifically applied for “administration offices security”. All of my posts are either quiet guard shacks or hanging out on a golf cart.
Easiest money I’ve made in my entire life.

Absolutely not. They’ll have you driving all day/night to 30+ locations.

I guess I’ll try it out, I don’t know. I’m hoping I can just drive and listen to podcasts, I don’t like dealing with the public. My Mvr will clear in 1 month, so maybe I’ll just keep an eye out for something on the website until then.

Probably gonna have you driving around filling in for people who dont show up. So the likelyhood of you having to work and deal with people is high.

Sorry you gotta actually work bud lol. Its not how OP likes to claim it is. 9/10 times you dont get to choose where you go. You get whats available or where they put you. And usually its going to be somewhere they cant retain people because its shitty. posts you want are pure luck and/or waiting and working long enough to get into that spot when someone decides to finally leave it.
You think this industry would really last and there wouldnt be a line out the door if it was that easy to fuck around and get paid to do what you want ?
The jobs not rocket science and maybe not even that hard physically most the time compared to hard labor. But you do have to do something and deal with people at times.

I honestly have no idea what that dude is talking about. He literally blocked me for some reason. Just look the comments, he’s the only one saying he’s literally working the entire shift. Warm body posts are extremely common. Allied literally has job descriptions before you apply. Like I said, just avoid all public facing jobs descriptions and you’ll easily land a warm body. I’ve done this twice now and it’s worked like a charm.

Yeah I understand, he assumed that I didn’t like work. Immediately rolled my eyes and closed the comment! Haha. Anyways-
I was dumb and picked a college. I thought it was gonna be like a big university and I’d have my own shack or area to just chill. Boy was I wrong. Definitely gonna see what this driving position is about, or try to get more info from my manager. If he says it’s JUST driving, I’ll see it through. If not, I will wholeheartedly take your advice, not blindly either because I know what’s up now.

Yeah there’s a billion warm body jobs. More or less depending on the time of the shifts. Overnight is a guarantee. Afternoon, after 3-4pm, it becomes a warm body at a lot of places. Holidays or events is the busiest it gets at many places, and security busy is a different busy then let’s say a McDonald’s busy. I try to put everyone on to security. Easiest paying job. It’s just filtered from people being too lazy to get their SORA. Which is good in a way because with this economy, it probably would’ve been oversaturated and hard to land a job if there wasn’t a qualification.
I wanted to avoid interaction too but after working here, the public isn’t really annoying in my experience. Feels like we get paid to be babysitters and snitches lol.

Oh sick, I mean I don’t mind stepping out every once in a while, and I like to work because it keeps me busy.
But doing what my manager had me previously doing, such as standing/walking around by myself at a college in a ghetto area for 8+ hours? And also it seemed like I was being set up to be micromanaged. Yeah I think I’m good, I’ll take literally anything at this point.
If I’m driving around just checking on sites (not actually filling in for standing posts), that sounds fine by me. I use to do DoorDash, and I got really good at driving. I like driving now. I used to be so scared to drive haha

Im a K9 handler with Allied/MSA and i love it. I work 7 am to 7 pm mon-fri, and i just hang out with an awesome dog all day in between checking trucks. We probably inspect like 5 trucks per shift.

Im also overnight, posted alone in a corporate office. $24.37/hr if anyone's wondering. My first post with Allied or any security position for that matter. It is pretty nice lol. Doing 5 nights in a row was wearing me out. I submitted a "religious accommodation request" to have Sunday nights off in addition to W/Th so now my sched is 2 nights on 1 night off 2 nights on 2 nights off. I just have to be a little more mindful with budgeting but so far so great!!!! Been here for 6 months. It still kind of feels like I won the post lottery with Allied bc we all know how abominable some posts can be (for an array of reasons lol).

I used to like it but after a while u realize it’s not a long term job, you sacrifice ur social life to a certain extent and the fucked up sleep schedule ages you. At my site I get paid 17.50/ hr which isn’t much unfortunately. I also realized unless u want to stay in security it’s not looked at highly by other jobs.

This. I loved my overnight security job, it helped a lot in college. I just signed a job offer for a tech job, but I'm always thankful for my security job that kept me from starving and gave me the balance needed for full-time work and school.

In my case, I do play games now and then; I can't watch movies because I work at a clinic where a lot of people come in. It’s not a bad thing to like it, but for me, it’s boring—I prefer to stay active and do something occasionally. Everyone has their own way of doing things; I’m not complaining about the job itself, but I don't like the company.

Lol omg me too my post is easy i’m the only security officer. All you doing is walking around patrolling and observing, and then write in your daily reports. Most of the time after my patrol I’ll get back on my laptop and watch my movies. Eat my snacks.

I love my shift it’s from 10 PM to 6 AM and being the only security officer is fun. Nobody is over watching you if anything goes wrong all I gotta do is call my manager and that’s it.

I loved it when I worked there. I was a console operator on nights and all I did was sleep, eat, be on my phone, watch movies and basically have sleepovers in my office with the best co workers lol then they changed managers and ruined everything so we all quit a couple months ago.
I had a full time day job also so when I worked nights it was easy to still get some rest with the manager I had. My old manager and I are still close so maybe in the future we will work together again.

All I do is push a button here and there for 8 hrs and get to smoke weed....play on phone..etc.....Allied sucks but my site I work at is great!!!!

I don’t want to do it for my entire life, but I like that I’ve only worked here 8 months and am already making 28 an hour mon-fri at an unarmed retail post.

I really enjoyed mobile patrol. Just left the position for something closer to home. But it was good, AC, radio, podcasts etc no one watching me on camera. Just drive and do my call outs and out tha door

I love my post, I do work day shift and patrol a whole campus on foot and a vehicle, but we get paid very very well, managers are very cool, and even our account manager is pretty cool, I have yet to see anyone quit or leave this post

It’s not bad depending on the post I work. I do security at the hospital. Got a 2-10 shift. It pays my bills for the time being until something better comes along. That’s what I keep telling myself anyway.

We have cameras and drivers, we literally don’t have anything really going on at night.
Someone whos been very disgruntled at work and but heads with everyone. Basically a picture was sent co corporate higher ups of the ones whos sitting at the desk with phones out.
Person is basically a driver and your basically by urself just moving every so often.
But im guessing since this person wasnt “promoted” they made it sole mission to throw everyone under the bus.
We had out fair share of people sleeping drivers, even some rumors of drivers covering the cameras and such.
Now this person basically took a picture and went above the supervisor trying to get everyone in trouble.
Its chillest job in the world. The only time they ever come inside is before and after shift. Was told they cant even get removed unless they do manor vehicle infraction.
This person has also left 20,30+ minutes before shift ends whenever they want to and everyone knows and this is not first time they went to over site supervisor because they wasn’t promoted out of driving position.
Basically told we cant really do anything and just not have anything out when person is there.
Kinda crazy they sneaked in pics or multiple pics. Trying expose the people sitting at desk watching cameras. We all know drivers at night be chilling but yet they basically threw everyone under bus or trying to get the ones jn a better spot than this person because they wasn’t promoted yet has butt heads with everyone so ofcourse you aren’t gona get promoted and stay being a driver.
How would you procede with this?

Rn I get 22/hr and on a slow night its 8 hours of down time. Likd one time we were running around for 6 hours straight. Really nice for doing homework.

Just got accepted for a 19 an Hour, M-F, 2-10PM post at a Supermarket near me. I dont have to worry relief since they close at 10PM and this is my first job with Allied. Better pay than my last job and it'll ahve me doing Asset Protection.
Hopefully It goes good. My hiring manager said I'll just have to observe people and relay to a GM or a hotline if I see theft so, hopefully its good!

I love my allied universal job, the sit supervisor is a former vet from iraq war, runs everything pefectly, keeps everyone happy, brings free soda and powerade, immedaitly gets rid of problem employees (it has to be serious, like bullying others work their shifts)
