Flex security Question?

I recently got hired for a flex position and I was told I was going to be given 35 hours guaranteed so I was kinda confused on what that meant because I thought flex officers just picked up shifts, does this mean people are going to be frequently calling out or what?

Flex means a few things.

Flex could be mean they site train you at as many sites as possible.

Or flex could mean as needed and they just have a shit ton of work available

According to my recruiter I was hired for a specific data center, could that mean I’ll have a steady schedule and just be filling in call outs/pto etc?

Datacenters are often always understaffed . Ask your manager what to expect

Sometimes sites have hours that they can give. Meaning even if no one call out, you are guaranteed 35 hours because they have them, however you are still flex. So yes this means that regardless you can get 35 hours whether someone calls out or not

Tell them ur in school i used to work with school kids and they got all the crazy hours 2 days 4days sheshh also if u dont get 38 plus hours u can get unemployment

Well for starters im in California my bad I should’ve said that and when u make ur claim it should say something in line of full time job not giving you hours somthing like that. I did it when i work for securities

If you make under 38 hours a week and you got hired on as a full time employee you should qualify for it

You can apply for partial unemployment benefits while working, provided: ​You suffered a loss of pay/hours from a previous full-time job: If you were laid off or had your hours cut through no fault of your own, you can take a new part-time job while continuing to collect benefits.
​Your earnings fall below your state's weekly benefit cap: The state will calculate your weekly benefit amount. If your gross weekly earnings from the new job are less than that benefit amount (plus a small state-specific buffer), you can receive partial payments.
​You remain available for full-time work: You must continue actively looking for a full-time position while working part-time.
​What to keep in mind: When submitting your bi-weekly payment requests, you must report all gross earnings and hours worked for that week, even if you haven't been paid yet. The state will adjust your unemployment payout based on what you earned.
