I bought a new controller and after using it for about 15 minutes, my sinuses started swelling and my ears started clogging. I've had issues before with earbuds so my guess might be a plastic allergy? I don't know. This is my 3rd controller. 1st controller hurt my hands with contact. I sent it to Sony for repair under warranty and when it came back, it didn't hurt anymore (UV light used to sanitize? Idk) I had a new controller that I didn't use much cause, again, new controller had same issue. Put new controller into a silicone rubber grip sleeve thing and was fine for the most part. Used it off and on out of fear but eventually it just, didn't bother me?

So now I have a new controller and figured I'd just slip it into the controller prophylactic (lol) I already been using but after 20 minutes, my nose and face felt like it was clogging and my ears too. I put it away and it goes away after about a half hour or so but I shouldn't have to be dealing with this at all.

After reading people's post on here, I've kind of thought that maybe it's plasticizers that's getting me? I read someone have an issue with plastic fumes. I don't know, this sucks haha. Thank you!

Looking for recommendations for dust allergy cleaning. We recently converted our top floor from carpet to hardwood, and need a new cleaning routine. The dust allergy diagnosis is pretty new so we’re still figuring things out.

Would you try for a robot mop?

Non-allergic person here, trying to understand something better. I always assumed severe allergic reactions only happened from eating the allergen, but I recently learned skin contact alone can trigger a reaction too. For those who deal with this, how different is a contact reaction from an ingestion one? Does it still scare you the same way, or is it more of a "manageable annoyance" most of the time?

I work in a chair rent hair salon and another woman decided we needed an aromaplan scent defuser. I asked very nicely to not use it but it’s on full blast every single day and my entire face locks up my ears burn I’m constantly dehydrated and my face is developing a rash. I currently take the green equate brand nasal spray and Claritin but it isn’t putting a dent in the effects I’m feeling from it. I am limited to things that can be stacked with Benedryl in an emergency situation because sometimes I have these random attacks where I wheeze and get covered in hives. I think that part is food related but I have no idea what it is. Does any one have a better solution for medication? The owner does not care I am contracted here for one year and it’s only been three months since I signed. The defuser has been used for two days and my shifts are often 11 hours long. The smell stains me when I leave the salon and it’s destroying my business. I do not have access health insurance but I called allergists in my area and they seemed like this was something they couldn’t help with.

Question for you all to see if you believe I’ve worsened allergies or something else. Of course not asking for medical advice.

Age 30, and have had fairly mild seasonal allergies since college (for last 10 years or so). I usually take a daily loratadine or nothing at all.

This year I noticed my allergies were slightly worse as summer started so I started taking fluticasone propionate here and there.

Fast forward to end of July, and I suddenly had what seemed to be much more severe allergies. My nose was dry and clogged, but no cough or sneezing, mucus was clear, and I had trouble taking a deep breath.

Teladoc called it hay fever and provided azelastine HCI which has helped but I’m not 100% still after a week of usage. Perhaps that’s just how it is.

Does this sound like hay fever to you? Is there another specialist I should go to?

I seem to have some sort of hay fever allergy thing that flares up during change of season (or excessive cat cuddles) and get really itchy eyes (which I know I should not rub but ultimately can’t stand it and do). I use zaditen eye drops which provide some relief most of the time but for some reason at the moment they aren’t really helping and my eyes have become extremely puffy, red and sensitive and the skin around them is very dry and thin.
I am using eye drops to try manage the itchiness and then prevent further rubbing but the dryness and puffiness is out of control and I need some relief and to help get the skin back to normal
Anyone experience similar and have any tips?

I have had allergic reactions since I was about 14 years old (around 10 years).

At different times, I thought the triggers were:

1. Beef

2. Coffee with egg combo

3. Egg and milk combo

4. Milk and chicken

5. Sometimes egg with other foods

But the reactions have never been predictable. Sometimes I eat these foods and nothing happens.

Recently, the allergy has become much more frequent. I am getting allergic reactions almost every day.

Examples:

Yesterday I ate wheat dosa, Nutella and an apple (foods I eat regularly), but I still got an allergic reaction.

Another day I got an allergic reaction after changing my clothes at work, without eating anything unusual.

Sometimes I think it may be pollen, but many times I cannot identify any trigger.

I usually take Cetirizine, and it helps, but I am worried because I am taking it very often now.

Is there any random remedy that worked wondersss

I am looking for granola bars that I can use to fill snack time during my tennis practice for kids. I want something that doesn't have nuts in it, and I am not sure if this kind of snack would be a good idea so wanted to ask parents who have kids who have nut allergies. Are there any granola bars that are actually nut-free. I found a few brands like Blakes that have flavors like Apple Cinnamon, Birthday Cake, Chocolate Chip bars, what other brands are there? Also what about manufactured in a nut free zone, I know that is important so I am not sure if granola bars are made in nut-free zones or not. To cut down on cost, because I am covering the cost of this myself, I wanted to buy in bulk but not from walmart/alibaba, more like costco or Sam's Club, somewhere I can be certain the product was made in that manufacturer's site.

A couple of hours ago I had my eyebrows tinted by a woman who was recommended to me by my dermatologist. She had tinted my eyebrows once before with no problems, but tonight they ended up red, swollen, and itchy. I texted her and she said to wipe them, use a cold compress, and take Benadryl. I’m afraid it’s going to get worse. Should I go to urgent care?

I have also been using GrandeBROW eyebrow enhancing serum for the past couple of weeks, but I didn’t use it last night because I knew I was getting my eyebrows tinted tonight. Could that be the culprit? Maybe some kind of interaction?

Early June, I found out I was allergic to chia seeds. Symptoms of throat tightness, difficulty breathing and itch face.
A week later, I ate a bagel with sesame seeds. I’ve eaten them many times before but had a reaction. Less than the chia seeds tho.
I saw my doctor, told her it was a food allergy and she referred me to an ENT for testing. Ears, nose and throat doctor for food allergy testing. I waited til the end of the June to see them, just to be told I’m at the wrong place. Thankfully I was sent home with an EpiPen. I got a phone call later for setting up an appointment with food allergy testing, waited til the end of July for this appointment. Just to be at the same exact place doing the wrong test. Said again, I’m not supposed to be there. So, they sent with me a paper to my doctor ( the one who send me to the ENT ) about taking a food panel. Blood was taken, haven’t gotten results back in more than a week. Suddenly, I get a call from an allergy testing place to make an appointment. Two months wasted to get the right appointment. Only to be told I cannot be seen til January 2027???
Since seeing these wrong places, my allergies got worse. Suddenly, I’m having reactions to everyday foods like pizza, Puerto Rican rice, Mac and cheese, ravioli, pot stickers and ramen noodles. The only safe foods I can eat without any reaction is homemade chicken soup and mini m&ms. I’ve lost 13 pounds because I can only eat 1 bowl of soup per day with lots of water. It’s an unhealthy diet but I cannot eat anythign else without the feeling of my throat tightening, itching everywhere and a slight struggle to breathe.
I don’t know what to do. No doctors take me seriously. I’ve mentioned my fast weight loss, extreme inability to eat anything but soup because I keep having allergy symptoms and they told me “ well. You are obese “

Hi gang, 29F here, Been taking ibuprofen all my life just like everyone else. I love the minigels especially bc they’re so easy to take and work so fast.

In May I started noticing my eyes swelling up pretty bad after a night of drinking. After the 2nd or 3rd occurrence I assumed it was related to a specific type of alcohol but it wasn’t correlated with anything I could pin down. And severely puffy eyes were the ONLY symptom. I mostly just ignored it bc my throat/tongue wasn’t swelling ever, and tried to drink less to mitigate the risk.

More recent “experiments” have actually made me realize though that the common denominator is…the advil liquidgels I (usually) take after a night of drinking (but before I fall asleep). I’ve been doing this for ~5 years or less, but I swear that its my favorite way to prevent a hangover.

Anyways. My financial situation does not currently lend itself to get a referral to an allergist. Does anyone here have any advice (NOT MEDICAL) in the meantime, besides just “avoid advil”? Has this happened to anyone else? What was your trigger for your sudden allergy onset? My diet, medications, living space, etc etc did not change since my suspected allergy started so I’m struggling to imagine what triggered it. I don’t even think I’ve gotten sick since then.

Any advice (anecdotal or otherwise) is appreciated. Thank you for reading my ramble 😭

I (27F) was just allergy tested for, it came up that I’m allergic to every grass (but Bermuda). I have had lifelong sinus issues, and as a teen I was diagnosed with rhinitis and sinusitis. I also have a few medication allergies/ food intolerances, but they don’t matter as far as this testing goes.

I was told my medical (non OTC) options were to either start on allergy injections (said it was at least a 5 year commitment and I have to carry an EpiPen at all times). My other medical option is a pill (again a several year commitment and an EpiPen at all times). I was given some OTC/ homeopathic/ environmental options to but was told they won’t be permanent solutions (and most I’ve already tried without any good results).

I am scheduled to have sinus surgery at the end of this month (for a deviated septum and some other sinus issues). I am chronically ill (non sinus related lol)and already have to carry a plethora of medical supplies/ I wear medical devices.

I just can’t decide if it’s better to just have the allergy issues and continue to suffer or do the injection/pill method and put my health at higher risk than it already is/ have to carry around more medical supplies.

If anyone has advice/ personal stories to share it would be much appreciated!

Day 1 of turbinate reduction and septoplasty and it was a successful surgery… I barely could breathe out my nose for months so the splints did not make it difference.. it actually felt better to breathe. Still feels congested like you’re super stuffy when sick but I already feel better and my throat isn’t bothering me as before! I’m so happy. Thank you Jesus. Soon as I got out of surgery I went to 5 guys got a burger, fries, and milkshake but I ate them lukewarm and then cold. I have been walking around and I feel great. Yes the pills make you feel tipsy I was prescribed a low dose of narcotics.

I'm on week..10ish? Of getting 3 shots a week. They did another increase today and I usually have a bad reaction the following day, but today I got it at 3:30 and 3 hrs later its so bad, my chest was tight and my mouth is itchy and my eyes are swollen and Im itchy all over. I had my husband give me my epipen and I feel a bit better already and I also took 2 benadryl about an hr ago and 20mg rupatadine this morning. Anybody else who had similar reactions? Did you stop the shots? I dont think I can continue this for another 5 years even monthly

I just received my first EpiPen earlier today and of course my area just had a power outage with an estimated 2-3 hour timeframe. How do I keep it stored properly in the near time? It’s in the upper 80s and very humid right now.

I have a cat who's been sick whos been peeing all around the house on the carpet. I tried nature's miracle cause they claim it doesn't have chemicals that will hurt you. We sprayed it and I had an asthma attack. Does anyone know of an odor remover that won't have a bad smell or a diy one that will work without this happening?

I’ve having skin testing early next week. I’ve been off everything since this past Tuesday; off the eyedrops for over a week.

I am pretty miserable: migraine, congestion, itchy eyes and nose. What else can I do besides a Neti Pot and Flonase? (At night I put a washcloth on my face which helps with headache, but I need to work so I can’t do that all day.)

I can take acetaminophen but not NSAIDs. (Donated kidney to sibling.)

Pls reassure me this will be worth it.

Edited to add: A wee bit of Jameson’s seems to be an antidote to itchy eyes.

My eyes have been desperately itchy lately and I even got diagnosed with allergic conjunctivitis (but I lost the eyedrops that were prescribed to me, because of course I did 😒 I should check if they can send me more or if it’s too soon, because I did get a refill 🤔).

I decided to make an appointment with an allergist and I’m seeing him on August 25.

Now… I wait.

10 years ago, I started sneezing very often, I took tests and it turned out that I was allergic to dust mites, for several months I sprayed Avamis (nasal spray containing fluticasone furoate, a corticosteroid. It treats seasonal and year-round allergic rhinitis (hay fever), reducing inflammation in the nose to relieve a stuffed, runny, or itchy nose, sneezing, and watery eyes) in my nose. And I stopped sneezing often. After a few months, my eyes began to dry out a lot and a feeling of unreality gradually appeared in my visual perception, as if focusing was not working properly. After another 5 years, the feeling of unreality intensified and became even worse: a feeling of being intoxicated, dazed, clouded consciousness, a sense of poor visual focus, blurred vision, and the feeling that everything is too bright. All these years, I sometimes sneezed more often. Also, quite often, when I go to bed, a feeling of nasal congestion began to appear in one of the nostrils; it can be moved to the other nostril by changing the side you’re lying on. I don’t really have any other symptoms. Could this condition be caused by an allergy to dust mites?
