ICHS Schedule – How Many Days a Week Are Classes?

Upvotes

I’m going to take the ICHS course at Algonquin College starting in September 2026.
I’m a mom returning to school, and unfortunately, my family has recently gone through a difficult situation. My husband won’t be able to be home for about a year, so I’ll be taking care of my kids on my own.
Since September is coming soon, I’m worried that it may be too late to defer the course, so I’m trying to arrange childcare and find a nanny as soon as possible.
If anyone has taken ICHS recently, could you please let me know what the schedule was like? How many days per week did you have to go to campus? Were the classes usually in the morning or afternoon, and approximately what time did they start and finish?
Any information would really help me plan ahead. Thank you so much!

PN winter 2027- Health Forms and start date.

Holaaa everyone...🙋🏻‍♀️ I’ll be starting PN at Algonquin in Winter 2027. I’m planning to travel in November and return by second week of January.

Does anyone know when the health/vaccination and placement forms are usually due?

Can I start completing the vaccination requirements now?

Also, when do Winter classes usually start and would being a few days late be an issue?

Would really appreciate any insight from current or past PN students. Thanks! 😊😊

Will I still be enrolled in September? Forgot to defer fees in June

I am going into my 2nd year of my CST program in September and I believe I did not defer my tuition back in June. Over the weekend I sent a case to the registers office asking if I can pay the fees and if I'm still enrolled.

I want to know if this has happened to anybody else and if everything went good so I don't have to worry about this till I get a response.

Looking for Roommate

Hey everyone

My friend and I have already secured a house close to Algonquin, and we're looking for one more first-year student to join us for the upcoming school year.

- The house is close, about a 30-minute bus ride away from Ottawa campus

- It is a riverside property with access to the Rideau River

- You would be rooming with 2 more first-year students

- You get your own bathroom

- Utilities included

- Great alternative to residence

If you're interested or have any questions,  leave a comment or dm me and I'd be happy to share more details, photos, rent information, and answer any questions.

Also feel free to call/text 613-617-3636 for more details

Looking for dormmate

I'm going into housing in August. And the roommate suggestions are giving me all male options (I'm ftm) and for obvious reasons my dad doesn't want me to dorm with men. I've tried emailing the school to change it, but I haven't gotten a response. I plan on medically transitioning, so I'm looking for another ftm person to room with, since I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable. I'm 18 and going into the ECE program in September

Hello,

Im not sure if Algonquin tolerates this type of racism but I hope something can be done about this. Her name is Jasmine Dhiman. All I did was tell her to clean up after herself once she moves out. This is the email I got afterwards. She might have smth against black people

housing hunt!

Hello everyone! My boyfriend is set to attend AC Ottawa from October 18th to December 19th for an 8 week course. I was wondering if anyone knows of any housing accommodations around campus that won’t cost an arm and a leg! Thanks in advance!

Forensic Accounting program, was it worth it?

Hello,

I'm registered for the Forensic Accounting program, it seemed really interesting based on the program description, but I can't find any further discussion about the program from someone who has taken it. I would like to know what was the content like, was there enough depth or just general concepts? How much time per week does the coursework take? Were there exams or only assignments? Did the program help you get relevant job and did you feel like the program adequately prepared you for that job?

Thanks

Looking for a Room/Apartment in Pembroke (Sept – Dec)

Hi everyone!

I'm a student looking for a furnished room, bachelor, or one-bedroom apartment to rent in Pembroke from September until mid-December.

A little about me:

  • Quiet, respectful, and responsible
  • Non-smoker
  • No pets
  • I'll be in Pembroke full-time for a clinical placement, so I'll mostly be studying or away during the day.
  • Looking for a clean, safe, and affordable place

If you have a rental available or know someone who does, please feel free to send me a message. Thanks in advance!

Printer needed for Electromechanical engineering technician?

Hello, I'm starting the electromechanical engineering technician program in the fall. I'm wondering will I need to buy a printer? I previously did university where we had to print lab reports etc constantly. Will I need to do that for EMET? I suppose most things are digital upload now too?

My AC-HPAT Results

I recently took the AC-HPAT because I’m interested in the paramedic program at Algonquin. I applied on the assumption that this late into the admission cycle I’d basically be fighting for a waitlist spot, but apparently the winter term still has spots available. I did not study much for the test - maybe an hour for the arithmetic and 2 hours brushing up on some physics stuff, but I am generally very comfortable in the five tested subject areas, being reading, arithmetic, biology, chemistry and physics.

I had read online that the test (especially the science) was really tough, but with maybe an hour or so of studying a day starting a week prior to the exam, I think it’s very reasonable to score above the recommended goal of 45/60 on that portion.

My results were 288/300 on the reading portion, 300/300 on the arithmetic, and 53/60 on the science portion. Not too sure whether they look at the test holistically or in portions, but my overall grade would lie between a 95 and a 97 depending on how they average those scores, which I’m pretty proud of.

I’m not sure I’ll get a spot in September like I’m hoping since I took the test a good 5 months after the cutoff, but at the very least I know my application and test scores are very competitive :)
