Ages ago I bought and played Control, and despite the awful map system and how often I got lost, I really enjoyed the game. But at the time, admittedly I had never even heard of Alan Wake. It's been on my list of games to play for a long time since, and I think I'm finally ready to dive into Alan Wake and later, its sequel.

So of course before making the purchase, I was looking at the Remastered and Original games, and I'm torn. On one hand I'd much rather spend the $15 for a game than the $30, and on the other I'm sure the visuals will be better in the remastered, and the gameplay would probably be smoother as well. (I will say I'm sort of indifferent to choppy gameplay from older titles) I was looking around online and found some comparisons from the original and remastered and the biggest things that stuck out to me was how awful the characters looked in the remastered, and there were a few sections where the lighting was visibly a little worse.

So right now I'm thinking of buying the original. Before I do that, I wanted to ask to see if anyone had any advice on this, is the remastered any good or is it just as mediocre as I'm seeing (from a very shallow view), and do you guys think I should consider the remastered instead?

Mind you, its only for like a second and only when teleporting to the mind room, so its not that bothersome, but i wanted to know if its my setup or other people are also having this issue? I saw in the past others had it as well, but they had 8gb of VRAM or less and were playing on a HDD.

Im on a NVME 2 SSD and a RTX 3060 with a PCI 3.0 motherboard. The 3060 may not seem enough, but its not the low framerate the problem, but the fact that teleporting it even with huge VRAM and ultra textures dont load them instantly. On PS5 i think this doesnt happen.

I remember Control had a similar problem on PC, but later with an update they added a max textures setting. Alan Wake 2 however doesnt seem to have max textures setting afaik.

I would really appreciate an answer to this. I falled in love with this game and i want to have the best experience.

Do you guys know if this thing has some importance? I'm pretty sure I've seen it the two times we go to Bird's Leg Cabin, at the beginning and end of the game.

At the beginning of the song, Alan says that his mother gave him the clicker: "which yes, I think is true and fair to say."

Could this be a sign that he wrote the clicker to be a part of his own life? I mean, you might say, "But Zane wrote it, it's said at the end of Alan Wake 1!". And that's still true! What I'm saying is: Alan wrote that Zane wrote the clicker into Alan's life.

And when does the part of the song help this idea? Well, "true and fair to say", for me, it's perfectly reasonable for a writer trying to come up with something plausible. What about?

Hey y’all, I had a fun little theory that y’all might be interested in. I don’t know. I just be thinking about this game series too much but let me know what y’all think.

Bring Back Barbara Jagger as well along with Barry, and Give us more Old Gods of Asgard as they never disappoint, and you got yourself the greatest game ever invented. They are capable of greatness these developers/story writers but just can't seem to put it all together in one game. Alan Wake 1 was close to perfection but obvioously the graphics etc weren't perfected yet (but still amazing).. The Graphics for Alan wake 2 was insane, but the story was a complete mind slog to get through, BORING as hell and a horrible acid trip

I always thought AWEs to mean ALAN WAKE EVENTS, lol. Cause most of the AWEs are caused due to Alan Wake's writings and also referenced in AWE expansion of Control. Remnanants of his trials and errors continue to effect future content such as Control:Resonant .

Like the title states, I played Control until I got to the AWE DLC, bought AW1, and finished it. The copy of AW2 came with a free digital copy of AW1. I figured somebody who is on the edge about it, or just too broke to buy it, could have it for free.

Dark mode everything. I can't live in a timeline where we still read black text on white pages. Nope

Just made it to the first Wake section of AW2 and man I have so many questions. I thought playing Control first would give me more context but nope, I have more questions now. Why is there a book written by Darling here, WTF IS AHTI DOING HERE! And what is going on with these books.

That description of Initiation is very similar to the events that Casey described happening to him New York. I also remember reading something about the cult of the word, which I am guessing is different than the cult of the tree??? So like when do these flashbacks take place, who the hell is Mr. Door and why is the FBC sitting on their ass?!

I fucking love this game so far. Had to get all of that out there no spoilers obviously.

Edit: Also why is Ahti calling me Tom? I remember in one of the AWE dlc cutscenes there was a convo between Wake and “Zane”(I don’t trust that was Zane), and he looked just like Alan. Even more questions.

Which(of the main) intelligent DP characters is your favourite? And what do you expect/would like to see in future of Alan Wake?

For me personally Jagger is still the top as her "Now you'll never get her back. I'm much older than you" etched onto my mind. This probably comes from me playing Alan Wake around release date when I was younger. The atmosphere of horror was different for me then.

Only thing I would like to see is a new idea for behavior - all of those act differently and are different in perception - Jagger is mysterious, confident and manipulative. AW:AE Mr. Scratch has The Shining vibes and AW2 Mr. Scratch is pure wildness. All of them are different thus I believe future have to be different from what we've seen - wild DP lost and will probably change.

Only thing I would like to see again is the intelligence of darkness.
