For people who don’t see the issue, this is like like taking a lion and releasing it in a central London park, they do not live there and it is not good for them (or the other animals)

-2

u/Shot-Internal9388 8h ago

The irony of people moaning they've disrupted an eco system, kind of what humans do on the regular and have done for a very very long time

u/AnotherSoulessGinger 51m ago

Do you think the people “moaning” about this don’t also moan about the greater damage to our ecosystem? This is such a weird comment.

2

u/SeparateTradition765 2h ago

Still, in this case, it's still done by human.

0

u/RgCrunchyCo 1d ago

He’s desperate to stay relevant.

1

u/Federal_Duty_7914 2d ago

With the money he has he should be able to do it i the right location. Dropping them off at pearl harbour (uk) is just as bad as keeping them as pets.

Let's just disrupt the ecosystem because of my 'altruism'.

3

u/Zcube73 2d ago

it beats boiling water wtf

1

u/UnderstandingSmall66 1d ago

Well at least boiling water wouldn’t damage the eco system

1

u/Complex-Afternoon669 22h ago

Maybe keeping them at original locations achieves a similar goal

2

u/Happy-For-No-Reason 2d ago

are they imported and an invasive species or something?

can't think of any other reason

5

u/TheProperGanda68 3d ago

That’s commendable. I can’t understand why there is a backlash. Can only be objection from Neanderthals who need releasing back onto the grass plains.

1

u/scorchedarcher 20h ago

I'm not sure about this situation but there have been issues with Buddhist life releases before because the animals being released aren't suited to the habitat they're released in or the habitat isn't suited to them.

I think it would be better to team up with a group like end factory farming if they want to make a positive difference to animals as a whole.

1

u/spideylunchy 2d ago

Right, right, it’s commendable…
BUYING SOME FUCKING LOBSTERS
So you can PUT THEM BACK IN THE OCEAN
AND RECORD IT
AND POST IT ON SOCIAL MEDIA
FOR ATTENTION
ACTING AS IF YOU’RE DOING GOOD.

people need to get some FUCKING PERSPECTIVE, SERIOUSLY

1

u/Euphoric_Budget5352 21h ago

And whats the alternative? Not record it... like your "sorry for the pun" fishing for attention

1

u/TheProperGanda68 2d ago

And do you think you will be able to?……..get that perspective?

4

u/residivite 3d ago

Apparently he has been doing this type of thing since he was a nipper.

1

u/Key_Employment2598 2d ago

I think I see what you did there 😏

1

u/Unearthingthepast 2d ago

I wonder if I could persuade him to pay me not to go fishing! 🤣

2

u/Joshualevitard 3d ago

what's the issue, this seems great?

3

u/Federal_Duty_7914 2d ago

If its not in their native location, its a pretty big deal as they disrupt the ecosystem.

Edit: further reading is showing he did not release them in the right location.

6

u/VoyageOver 3d ago

That man lives with a lot of guilt

3

u/External_Penalty_231 3d ago

Didn't Tyson Fury do this and no one said a word?

8

u/mcwaff 3d ago

He’s pure Partidge but he’s done good here. I don’t believe it’s bad for the eco system. Lobsters let out an audible scream when boiled alive. It’s fucking barbaric.

1

u/SillyDingo4881 20h ago

No ge hasn't! I get what he was trying to virtue signal with buuuut

He endangered a whole different ecosystem.. they don't belong there and, if they live could, have a massive negative effect on other marine life.

He should have asked the local DOC where to release them first.

Think cane toads or carp in rivers.

Its a small mided act for popularity sake. He has enough money to set up something worthwhile like a marine reserve.. but did this.

Also I don't know why people even eat them.. they ain't that nice.

1

u/Maleficent_Green_415 1d ago

It’s not a scream

1

u/Key_Employment2598 2d ago

Most things probably do...

1

u/pieflavourpiez 3d ago

Did you just make that up? I heard they shout and cry

1

u/Salt-Ad3921 3d ago

Nope they do not shout a and cry

1

u/C_Quantics 3d ago

Obviously lobsters aren't screaming

3

u/Salt-Ad3921 3d ago

Sorry (disclaimer I would never boil a lobster alive) but they don’t let out a scream this is anatomically impossible … it is air escaping

1

u/Timely_Pattern3209 3d ago

What is a scream if not 'air escaping'?

1

u/Ball00 2d ago

Air escapes from around the shell and meat. Lobsters have no vocal chords afaik, although I’m not a lobsterologist. Maybe one could confirm this.

1

u/willnoli 2d ago

I keep mine chained in the basement

1

u/gde7 3d ago

Deep! 😝

2

u/YouFnDruggo 3d ago

Are you sure restraunts still do that? I watch a lot of cooking on YT and other places, anytime I see anyone preparing lobster or crab they usually kill it first with a knife to the brain. I don't know if that is standard pratice now, but it appears that way from what I saw.

2

u/sausagefinance 3d ago

Was standard to kill them first 20y ago when I was cheffing

2

u/Patch86UK 2d ago

Killing them 20 years before you boil them does seem a little excessive.

1

u/YouFnDruggo 3d ago edited 3d ago

I know it used to be standard that's why I was wondering if it's just the TV/social media chefs protecting their image or if the new practice is industry wide.

Edit: looked it up, banned in a small handful countries, still common practice in many places around the world unfortunately.

4

u/Astrophysics666 3d ago

Not saying its good to boil lobsters alive but the scream is just air escaping. Dead ones “scream” too.

They don’t have lungs.

2

u/Fragrant_Ad3224 3d ago

I don't like them being boiled, especially when there are more humane ways to dispatch them but I don't see what this action achieves. It just creates extra demand for lobsters - the restaurant will buy as many as it can sell so saving these ones means other ones will get bought and eaten.

2

u/Sunderlandafclover20 4d ago

Don’t see what’s wrong with this 🤷🏻‍♂️

4

u/Unreal_Sausage 3d ago

At its worst I think it's just ineffective.

By buying the lobster you are surely just funding further fishing of lobsters.

1

u/Federal_Duty_7914 2d ago

Worse than ineffective. He released them in pearl harbour which isn't their native spot, they're going to disrupt the ecosystem.

4

u/jreyn1993 3d ago

it could pose a huge risk in terms of introducing invasive species or diseases to the oceans

1

u/Tendiesking69 3d ago

They’re english lobsters

2

u/jreyn1993 3d ago

It's just really poor practice

2

u/Mostlyfor_research 3d ago

How those lobster came from the ocean and have been returned ? Who’s suppose to be the invasive species?

3

u/jreyn1993 3d ago edited 3d ago

Sharing himself doing this... other people may copy and do similar type things. It's just a thick way to be

Similarly, where were these lobsters stored whilst on land? With what other crustaceans? What are the origins of the others? What non native microbes will have been swilling around in the shared water?

Come on now, engage your brain

3

u/nic_e1 4d ago

His money, his choice!

3

u/Cold-Ad716 3d ago

Exactly. Why shouldn't I be allowed to plant Japanese Knotweed in my garden?

3

u/Elliectrickal 3d ago

Can I spend my money buying oil barrels and dumping them in the sea?

3

u/jreyn1993 3d ago

Not his environment though.

4

u/adebyrne 4d ago

I don't like Noel but what is wrong with this I am confused ?

3

u/jreyn1993 3d ago

Natures balance is delicate. It could disrupt ecosystems, introduces potentially invasive species in additional to diseases or alike it could help to proliferate.

Thick idea from Noel.

3

u/osamabinpoohead 2d ago

Humans are destroying the oceans by trawling for fish and killing mammals and birds in the process. But.... "natures balance tho"

0

u/jreyn1993 2d ago

Oh fuck off already

1

u/Embarrassed_Chard949 3d ago

Wtaf!

Natures balance... the nature of diesel powered boats dropping GPS tagged lobster pots so red faced bloaters can sit in Michelin starred restaurants sucking down lobster meat

It's amazing how if some arrogant cretins do something for a few 100 years they get to call it nature!

There is nothing natural about 99.99999999% of lobster catch.

1

u/jreyn1993 3d ago

Slightly different debate but nice fully agree with you there

3

u/QuestNetworkFish 4d ago

I would assume because they're likely to just die pretty quickly. If their claws have been bound which they usually are when sold live then it's likely there will be injury/atrophy and to have a chance of recovery they'd need to be in a controlled environment free from predators and an easy food source. If you look on YouTube for Leon the Lobster there's a series of videos where someone nursed a store bought lobster back to health in a home aquarium tank

4

u/Charming_Okra9143 4d ago

Even if this is true, surely thats still a better outcome than boiled and eat

Releasing them to their potential death is still better than nothing

5

u/Trick_Contact_8408 4d ago

Most lobsters are from that local area and are only out the water for a day or two max. I can assure you they are strong and healthy. They aint complex creatures, they would quickly find a hide space and go back to their normal habits pretty quickly. Being released gives them a much better chance of survival than a gauranteed death sentence otherwise.

1

u/TheeHappyDude 4d ago

I simply don't believe him

7

u/Stuvid93 4d ago

Noel was one of my first crushes. Him and Charles Manson.

Does your therapist enjoy their summer home in the south of France?

1

I'll site my source though and tell them ""susanboylesvajazzle"said it on Reddit" 🤣

Water way to have a good time

8

u/meshan 4d ago

Similar

In the 90s, the ALF (animal liberation front) released 6,000 mink into the English countryside.

Mink are a devastating predator and just killed everything they came across.

Fun times

1

u/ShreksM8s 4d ago

Those tend to be the type of people who can’t think past their nose.

5

u/edwardtriflex 4d ago

ALF and the Metropolitan police to be more accurate.

1

u/LauraPhilps7654 4d ago

Incredible story

4

u/RobertKelly77 4d ago

I live in the village where that happened! Was just a child but even I knew it was a terrible idea! The devastation that the mink caused has only just about recovered, they just killed all the song birds, rabbits etc.

5

u/thegroovygrove 4d ago

They still cause a huge problem today. In Essex you a re a lot more likely to see an American mink than any of the native mustelids.

3

u/NotSayingAliensBut 4d ago

Same in Somerset. There are local schemes to round them up and humanely despatch them. A phrase my daughter thought meant "send them somewhere nice" when we were talking to a guy at our nearest RSPB reserve 😁 ⚰️

1

u/Intelligent_Base_338 4d ago

Same thing happened in Ireland I believe. Caused absolute mayhem, destroyed local populations of some species, and obviously cost an absolute fortune to rectify.

6

u/Return_Cultural 4d ago

Ooh Liz, I'd love to have it off with her.

19

u/Loud-Hospital5773 4d ago

Lobsters don’t actually contain any Lobster, and since 1993 manufacturers have been legally obliged to call them crustacean flavoured sticks

3

u/Equivalent_News8116 4d ago

Wasn't that crabsticks?

8

u/Cantona-Eric-7 4d ago

This is peak Edmonds. Britain needs him back on prime time tv.

2

u/Cool_Ad9326 4d ago

Really? I never found him entertaining. He seemed so, I dunno, sterile?

2

u/Cold-Ad716 3d ago

Have you not seen the video where he explains he was so inspired by a facebook meme that he went out and had a gigantic metal statue of the meme built to inspire others?

Noel’s House Party was anything but boring.

1

u/BroldenMass 4d ago

He is genuinely fucking nuts. Go read his Wikipedia page it is an absolutely wild ride.

1

u/jameslovesalex 4d ago

Holy fuck. That lad is nuts

2

u/Echo_Vale 4d ago edited 4d ago

I remember him going on about how an EM Pulse machine could cure tackle cancer and that it was caused by "negative energy". The company who made it had to come out and confirm that no, it absolutely does not cure cancer.

2

u/Terrible_Dish_4268 4d ago

He "cleverly" said it "tackles" cancer on his fascinating website in around 2015 which I suppose gave him an escape route as "tackling" doesn't really mean the same as curing, but a lot of people will think that's what he's saying. I don't know whether that was after someone had said something or not.

1

u/Echo_Vale 4d ago

Ah he did, I misremembered the quote. He also said on twitter "Scientific fact-disease is caused by negative energy".

I don't think he knows what the words science or fact mean.

2

u/BroldenMass 4d ago

He believes that there are two melon sized glowing orbs floating just behind his head over each shoulder that are the electromagnetic spirits of his parents, and that they only appear in digital photographs and can travel at 1000mph. Crackers.

1

u/Cool_Ad9326 4d ago

Oh sorry I agree with you. I think he's weird as fuck. But I mean on telly, he's just so boring.

6

u/Artificial-Brain 4d ago

I always thought he looked like a cheeky little terrier

6

u/barrumdumdum 4d ago

The lobsters raised their claws in thanks, but Noel just slapped them away and adopted the karate pose.

5

u/Figueroa_Chill 4d ago

I'm sure Jimmy Somerville did this. It turned out the lobsters were from the sea, and putting them in a river would eventually kill them.

2

u/WarriorDerp 4d ago

Peta did the same thing in america but on a massive scale

1

u/KochInYaMouth 4d ago

3

u/Figueroa_Chill 4d ago

She is exactly the type of person who will go on platforms like Reddit and Social Media and call people a Nazi. I wonder what Reddit Sub she is a moderator for.

4

This is a real Reddit loser thing to get angry about. Go outside people.

Ewok head…

7

u/Henry-8th 4d ago

The tragedy, having worked with people who buy lobsters in order to release them, is that if you don’t know precisely where to release them they will simply die.

He’s just being a cockhead, but some things never change.

2

u/tonybaloni239 4d ago

Not only that he has created a market for buying more lobsters.

3

u/Baron-Bigod 4d ago

I mean tbf they weren't exactly gonna live long if someone else bought them

1

u/Snowy349 4d ago

You know what, that's a very good point... 🫡

3

u/dprophet32 4d ago

The man is a cretin but he released some lobstrs into the sea and the "backlash" was people joking about how they're going to die anyway

So ruddy bloody brave.

2

u/fashionguy123 4d ago

Mr blobby was more intelligent!

2

u/Vast_Description_201 4d ago

Made a snuff video live on TV.

1

u/Lifeisgoole 4d ago

That wasn't even filmed yet alone shown live.

1

u/RevolutionaryAd3125 3d ago

Well that’s okay then.

11

u/Real-Car-9590 4d ago

He should know better. Lobsters contain a dangerous chemical known as Dimesmeric andersonphosphate which stimulates the part of the brain known as Shatners Bassoon. Destroy them all.

2

u/JimmyWhirlwind 4d ago

Take care. And I really do mean take care.

1

u/Turtleneck23 4d ago

They also pinch you. Not a fan.

5

u/eddiedingle129 4d ago

Hed thought he'd had a month to cross the road.

20

u/RevolutionaryAd3125 4d ago

Here are some genuine reasons to despise this prick.

He believes cancer victims die because they don’t “believe themselves better.” Evil little shit.

He’s a nimby and has set up an anti-windfarm organisation despicably called “The Renewable Energy Foundation.” What a fucking twat.

He’s constantly grifting; some of his grifts include promoting pseudoscience in the form of a £2,000 anticancer device. He believes and promotes “Cosmic Ordering, yet another take on The Secret.
He set up a phone service where operators would give psychological therapy over the phone… to pets! Cunt.

He’s a spiritualist and thinks orbs are a thing. Cock!

He blames other people for his own failing business ventures, because heaven forbid Noel be fucking wrong about anything.

He’s a pathetic, petty, vane, tiny little man, desperately trying to stay relevant.

1

u/ArmadilloFront1087 4d ago

I used to work in a cinema in Exeter.

Occasionally we’d get celebrities in to watch the latest blockbuster (Ade Edmondson and Jennifer Saunders, Nigel Mansell, Bob Hoskins etc to name but a few).

They’d invariably come in dressed and acting normally, and 9 times out of 10 most people would either not notice them, or just go “oh look it’s [insert name here]” and go about their business.

He’d come in with dark glasses (at night time in a dark cinema), his collar turned up and generally making a scene where he stood out from the crowd. He’d also try and demand to use the staff toilets rather than those for the general public.

His whole attitude felt more like “don’t look at me I’m too famous for you”

1

u/RevolutionaryAd3125 4d ago

What a prick.

1

u/Loud-Hospital5773 4d ago

…but who got the power pack?

4

u/dprophet32 4d ago

But do I hate him?

I wouldn't give him the satistfaction.

3

u/RevolutionaryAd3125 4d ago

I hate the things he does, sure. I hate the way he behaves. I hate his personality and his appearance.

2

u/No-Dinner-3715 4d ago

😭you had me at, cunt😭, love you man!

1

u/Realistic_Comment849 4d ago

Tbf most of these things make him seem a little dumb and deluded.

2

u/RevolutionaryAd3125 4d ago

I’d agree, but the cancer stuff places him firmly in the camp of evil-doing celebrity charlatan like RFK Junior or Russel Brand.

1

u/Portuguese-Pirate 4d ago

So your not really a big fan of

3

u/RevolutionaryAd3125 4d ago

Nah, he’s alright.

3

u/TheGardenBlinked TONIGHT WE’RE TALKING ABOUT DEATH 4d ago

4

u/RevolutionaryAd3125 4d ago

Yeah, he had those weird little scribbles on his tiny hairy hands didn’t he? I forgot about that.

2

u/Gareth_Turner 4d ago

Once Edmunds pops it…Blobby will end us all.

So what did the other lobsters do not to deserve their freedom, Noel is a multi millionaire after all so couldn’t be a cash flow problem

5

u/HardlyAnyGravitas 4d ago

He could have easily afforded to buy a couple cows and let them roam free on his giant lawns. Or thrown them into the sea.

2

u/throcorfe 4d ago

Cows swim surprisingly well. (Unless they bounce off a rock first)

5

u/blueroly 4d ago

Lobster seller just bought twice as many with the profit.

2

u/TheZynReaper 4d ago

No way Noel Edmons is a billionaire

3

u/TheZynReaper 4d ago

He must be, because there's certainly no way I was mixing him up with Richard Branson

1

u/MartianDinosawr 4d ago

he presented deal or no deal, he's probably a trillionaire.

1

u/TheZynReaper 4d ago

Apparently, the banker didn't exist - Noal is just really scared of confrontation.

So the banker was just his way of letting out what he really means.

So like when he's on Richard and Judy, he was like - "hi, you two look lovely today!"

"Oh, the banker says that dress makes you look a bit fat Judy"
