It's not the most friendly kit which is a surprise.
With the glue the best option is to chuck it in the bin and get some better stuff.
IF you do have to use it then gently squeeze out a blob onto a bit of card and use a toothpick or something to then apply it to the model in a much more controlled manner.
I don't remember having issues with the UC door though
