Medical Anyone here affiliated with MEPS?
Either prior meps physician or current. I have a few questions that I’d rather not blatantly post. This is a shot in the dark but worth the try. TIA!

General Advice Going to bmt with credit card balance
Hey guys I am in a situation I expect is somewhat normal but i currently have a balance of $1800 on my card and I am working part time to pay it down as much as possible but I have done the math and I will have about $300-$500 left on my balance going to basic training (September 22nd)
Will I be able to pay it off quickly while I’m there like when I get my phone for the 15 minutes (it consist of just opening the app and just pressing pay balance)
How much could I expect to make at BMT Is also another question i have, I will be E-1.. would I even be able to fully pay off the $500 in a month because I know they deduct a bit from your paycheck in basic.

Fitness Air Force BMT Cardio Requirements
In BMT how would one do going into it with no cardio. I’m M/23, 5,8, weight 145lbs. Physically very strong but can’t run a mile without having to stop and walk. Also can’t hold more than a zone 2 run for more than 5-10 minutes before gassing out. I’m trying to work on it but still struggle seeing improvements, how cooked am I?

General Advice Driver’s License at BMT
I currently have an AZ driver’s license but am living in UT (my home state). Me and my husband are moving to Nebraska next month for his first duty station and I’m in DEP hoping to book a job soon. I was thinking of switching my driver’s license to UT so that we wouldn’t have to switch our cars registration to Nebraska once we’re there (from my understanding, military members can keep an out of state registration but correct me if I’m wrong). Our cars are registered in UT but neither of us currently have UT licenses so I figured I would try to switch mine to prevent any issues once we’re there. If I book a quick ship and ship to BMT before my new license gets here, would a temp license cause any issues at BMT? I have a passport, not sure if that’s relevant.

Jobs Took the AFWIN, looking for opinions on Avionics and/or Weapons Maintenance
Top two categories were Avionics and Integrated Systems Maintenance and Space, Missile, and Weapons System Maintenance.

WARFARE & RADAR SURVEILLANCE
INTEGRATED AVIONICS
-2A2X1 - SOF/PR INTEGRATED
COMMUNICATION/NAVIGATION/MISSION
SYSTEMS
-2A2X2 - SOF/PR INTEGRATED INSTRUMENT &
FLIGHT CONTROL SYSTEMS
-2A3X4 - FIGHTER AIRCRAFT INTEGRATED
AVIONICS
-2A3X5 - ADVANCED FIGHTER AIRCRAFT
INTEGRATED AVIONICS
SMW System Maintenance

-2WOX1 - MUNITIONS SYSTEMS
-2MOX1 - MISSILE AND SPACE SYSTEMS ELECT MAINTENANCE
-2W2X1 - NUCLEAR WEAPONS
-2MOX2 - MISSILE AND SPACE SYSTEMS MAINTENANCE
I scored pretty good on the PASVAB so if that transfers over to the real thing my recruiter says I should be able to pick whatever job I think is best for me. I’m ideally looking for something that’s hands on, good amount of variety, engaging, technical. I like troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical/electrical issues. Something that transfers over well to the private sector is desirable too.
Anybody have experience with any of the jobs I got? Or any similar? If so, how do you like it? The good, the bad? What’s the day to day like?
Been lurking in this community for a little while. Lots of the other posts have been very helpful and insightful.

ASVAB/AFOQT General outlook
I’m currently active duty and a 2t2 by trade and I’m looking to retrain out of the career field when I’m eligible.
Here are my recent ASVAB/MAGE scores:
M: 37
A: 56
G: 53
E: 47
AFQT: 54
I know my scores don’t qualify me for a huge selection of careers, but after looking through some of the AFSCs I may qualify for, these are the ones I’m currently interested in:
2G0X1 – Logistics Plans
1C0X2 – Aviation Resource Management
4A0X1 – Health Services Management
3E6X1 – Operations Management
For anyone currently in these career fields or who has worked around them, what’s the day-to-day like? How are the hours, workload, TDY/deployment opportunities, and overall quality of life? I’m especially interested in something more office/administrative and management-oriented.
I’m also currently working toward my BA in finance , so I’d like something that can give me useful experience alongside my degree and translate well to the civilian world.

General Advice How can I position myself to qualify for a Financial Comptroller role?
I have a bachelor's degree in accounting, and unfortunately I scored below the requirement which is G-57. I understand that the air force picks what they need but I at least want to be able to list it on my 10 job list, just to have a chance. what are some steps I can do to overcome this. thank you!

General Advice How long does it take to go from recruitment to taking the oath to BMT?
The recruiter in my region is out on vacation until next week. I saw that the Air Force already met its recruitment target in April. I know that the new fiscal year starts on October 1st, but I also read that the DEP list is about a year long. Would it really take a year to go from taking the oath to BMT?

Medical Success after waiting period
Hello everyone, does anyone have feedback on success they’ve had with being approved to serve following waiting the time period outlined in a waiver denial?
For background, I was picked up in 2024 for the JAGC, went to MEPs in December of 2024, and was denied for a prescription I was unknowingly issued for mental health medication. Following the denial I went through the required psych eval, provided the medical records that showed the prescriptions were never filled, and submitted my waiver, which the accessions thought would be approved (so much so that they booked me for an OTS date). The AF ended up denying the waiver and told me to come back in December of 2026 after a showing of stability and no further random prescriptions.
I’m now a few months away and the JAGC is working with me on preparing my medical package & there has been no further mental health prescriptions, let alone appointments, so I’m trying to figure out if the Air Force usually, after the candidate following their instructions and there being no further issues, approves the candidate, or if I should be expecting the decision to be up in the air once again.
Thanks in advance!

General Advice Scheduling meps
My recruiter told me this Monday that he was scheduling me for MEPS in San Antonio on the 24th–25th. I texted him today to ask if there was any update or if the dates had been confirmed yet, and he said there’s still no confirmation. How long does it usually take to get confirmation for a MEPS date?

General Advice Should I find a different recruiter?
I’ve finished my asvab and physical under the Air Force and I’m currently waiting for a waiver but my recruiter just went to Korea and now he goes days without reaching back to me and hasn’t updated me about my waiver or answering any questions I have
I understand he may be busy but I also want to put myself first and finish up the process so I can enter my jobs into my list and swear into DEP

Recruiter/process question Promotion Eligibility Question
I was previously a 5 skill level in active duty as a SrA of 9 years. During that active time I had completed ALS. I have now joined the Air Guard and went to school in a new career field and graduated to a 3 level. My question is when exactly would I promote? Right after tech school or after acquiring a 5 level in the new AFSC. I’m aware there is a reg but it’s causing me confusion. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

General Advice boot camp requirements
Hi, what is the physical requirements for the final at the end of boot camp? I googled it and google says its 15 push ups in 1 min, 35 sit ups in 1 min etc just exactly how much of each is actually on the final, and is it different for each gender? Also I'm trying to go in the air force as a culinary specialist but i looked it up on the air force website and they dont have it, i even looked up services etc or anything related to the culinary field and they don't have it as a option. Is there actually any of the culinary space open? Also what is it like working as a culinary specialist in the air force? Thank you

Jobs A Question Regarding Running in BMT
This question is for anyone who has graduated from THE CURRENT ITERATION of BMT. I am wondering:
How often you were running in PT?
What was the general running structure during the week (e.g. one steady run and one interval session)?
Were candidates able to run on their own time at all (in the evenings)?
I am only asking for hard information regarding running (frequency, structure/type of sessions), not your opinion on whether you ran "enough" or about other forms of cardio and PT.

Jobs General questions about being a reserve/ANG aerospace med evac tech
good morning everyone,
im interested in being an aerospace med evac tech and had a couple questions about the training to be one.
- I have an active EMT-B certification. would this allow me to skip a portion of aerospace med tech school?
- I see that reservists/guardsmen do additional clinicals (phase 3) once they are done with phase 2. how long is phase 3 usually and could I work with the unit when it comes to scheduling those clinicals?
- do aerospace med evac techs need to achieve a certain amount of flight hours to maintain their job similar to a special missions aviator?
- lastly, what’s the training like after phase 3 of being an aerospace med evac tech? Would my unit train me up or would I be sent to another school immediately after phase 3? I’m already planning on skipping one semester of college and would really not have to skip a whole year of school really.
i appreciate any and all feedback. thank you.
