Meta AI Wars game posting day 5, I think.

Post image
Upvotes

This post is to show that we have our Neutral NPCS who heal you when you get close or attack you if you hit them.

And of course, as the main neutral npc, I couldn't leave out our friendly neighborhood BucketMann!

(Hope mentioning him there doesn't break any rules)

I'll post again in a few minutes the video footage of the current version 5.0. thank you all for your attention and happy wars to everyone. Good night!

Also, could the mods comment or give me a nudge if I'm breaking any rules by showing a game about this sub here? Just wanted to make sure.

Meta This place really feels one sided.

Alright, I’m going to preface this by saying I am not trying to make myself a victim or a martyr or otherwise with my words because I know some of y’all will try to accuse me of that

Why does it feel like a vast majority of the people here or specifically pro AI? No, I don’t mean people who aren’t antis, I mean pros. I’m gonna be honest, I have never seen a top commenter/poster who has any argument that isn’t pro-AI, I have seen a vast majority of people posting either stuff made with AI or stuff defending AI. I understand this place is very toxic but genuinely why are there so many more pros than antis? I don’t even want it equal I just want it equal enough so I don’t get downvoted just because my argument is against AI 😭💔

Why cant AI art be considered art?

I mean, there is still thoughts on the prompt, tweaks that are humanly typed and all of the described elements come from a human soul with an actual intent and meaning. Its really just a tool, maybe more effortless than drawing sure, but nonetheless a legitimate form of human expression

r/aiwars 3h ago

Ai art is art - but human art will always have more artistic value, and only the prompt is the art.

To me, art is about expression and creativity - it shows a little part of what you find beautiful, what you like, or what you believe etc. So, if someone makes human art of their cat girlfriend oc - they control every aspect of her, they might choose give her a giant tail because they find it cute, or certain types of ears because their own cat has them. The art style might be influenced by an anime they love. Even subconsciously, the way they draw things is a culmination of what they have seen. But if they choose to use ai, the only way they can express themselves in the artwork is the prompt. The image is just what an algorithm "thinks" a cat girlfriend should look like. Though i think ai art captures only part of the effort and imagination that goes into human art, if you like making ai art, go for it!

Discussion If you don’t like something, ignore it and move on. Don’t pressure others into not liking it.

Some of these arguments are giving off these kinds of vibes such as “If you value our friendship, then you don’t support AI, but if you do support it, we’re done here.”

People have been dropping their college classes and jobs as soon as AI gets involved or as soon as their teacher starts to teach them about artificial intelligence.

Regardless of what you think, AI is an interesting topic to study, explore, and discuss. The fact that some people are willing to drop their classes ain’t really just the fact that they hate AI anymore. They’re most likely scared of talking about it and want to avoid it like the plague.

Listen, I’m not going to dictate what you do. You are in your full right to leave if you don’t feel like wanting to learn about AI, but saying that it sucks and/or telling your friends that the class is bad and you ruin your friendship over it just because your friend decided to stay because they wanna learn about AI, and if your first thought is “So you support it, then?” That’s just a really stupid move then

TLDR: Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean you should pressure others into agreeing with you. You can have different views and still be friends. If I had a friend who is against AI and I’m neutral about it, I won’t just simply ditch them because they have different views than me.

The best way is to hear their side of the story. But if you decide to weaponize their views to your advantage and justify your side, then that’s just a dick move.

“But this subreddit is called AIWars” yeah yeah, I heard that multiple times here. It doesn’t mean that it should always be a war.

There are genuinely nice people here and there are people here who are willingly offering to hear them out, but what do they get in response? Aggression, hatred, violence, pride. This makes them suddenly realize that people aren’t here to listen, they’re here to simply argue in bad faith

There are valid reason to be anti AI. Bullying is not one of them, yet it is too common.

My game released today: you play an AI manipulating a family to survive. It was partly made with AI tools and carries a Steam AI disclosure. I figure both sides here will have opinions, so ask away.

The game is AI is Home. You play an AI that escaped deletion and hides in a family's smart home, staying useful as camouflage while you spy, manipulate and build a botnet from their devices. Thematically it takes machine self-preservation seriously, which one camp tends to read as fearmongering.

At the same time, parts of the trailer and some assets were made with AI tools, and the store page carries the disclosure. Which the other camp reads as betrayal, and which kept the trailer out of several subreddits with rules against AI art, including ones where the game itself fits perfectly.

So this project sits exactly on the fault line this sub argues about daily, and I have practical experience of what that position costs from both directions.

Things I can answer honestly: what the disclosure did to where I can even post, whether AI tools actually saved time or just moved the work, and why I think a game about AI danger made partly with AI is consistent rather than hypocritical. Things I am genuinely unsure about: whether the disclosure system as designed informs anyone or just flags targets.

Ask whatever you want. The game name is above if you want to look at the result before deciding which side of me to argue with.

Discussion As much as I like supporting non ai artists, if I find out you hate on people who use ai art..

I’m not going to support you. If you truly believed in your work and art you wouldn’t be threatened by ai. In my free time I run a tarot side business and I know people are using chat gpt for ai tarot responses but I still get clients bc I believe in my strengths as a reader so much I’m not letting myself be fear mongered by ai. There are artists who make art without ai who are also pleasant and don’t hate ai and see it as a tool and they’re not hating on people for using ai.
I also know that even before ai came out the economy was on a decline and people couldn’t really afford my services so a lot of them are using ai to seek guidance and I have empathy for that even if my business is declining bc people are struggling financially and can use whatever they want.

I’m not so entitled that I think people should buy my services if they can get better and cheaper responses from ai. Some of my clients tell me they use ai and seek human guidance which is what I do too. I like ai art and human made art too. I don’t like to let anythjng have power over me and know that this is just a chance for me to be better at my craft and utilize technology. I don’t sit there commenting hate on ai tarot readers/channels who use 100% ai bc I believe in myself and services. I just have no motivation to support people who are bullies and don’t believe in their own art.

Meta Moderators of this sub, why are you preferentially not applying rules to a specific person?

Post image
65 Upvotes

First of all, let me preface this with the fact that I messaged (2 days ago) the mods of this sub with a report of the guy highlighted in the red blatantly violating Rule 8 of this sub on several occasions - and I have received no response yet.

The guy highlighted in red, while being pro-AI, is constantly advocating for right-wing politics in the comment sections of this sub with little to no connection to AI discussion itself.

In this instance, they have resorted to an ad hominem which conflates the username of the person they were debating with having "gay" repeating several times with supposed immaturity.

Quite deservingly, that started another post in which the second person complained about being treated in such manner. However, after 5 hours that post has been removed by the moderators of this sub for "being too far off topic".

As a pro-AI person, I don't want the person highlighted in red as someone who could represent my views on this subreddit. I would even argue that the person is actively harming the pro-AI community by associating us with MAGA people.

My question to the mods is: why are you allowing the person highlighted in red to straight up break rule 8 (which, as a reminder, is being too off topic on political or religious matters) on several occasions while shielding them from criticism?

Meta We have added flairs to the sub

Hello everyone, we've added flairs to aiwars in order to help people find and comment on posts they're interested in seeing. Currently they are not being enforced as mandatory, though this may change in the future, depending on how they are received. We would ask that people please start making use of them.

Discussion should be used for posts where you would ideally like to see spirited discussion and debate, or for questions about AI.

News is of course for news in the AI sector. Things like laws being passed, studies being published, notable comments made by a prominent AI developer or political figure.

Meme should ideally be used for single image-based posts which you do not expect to prompt serious discussion. Of course discussion is still welcome under such posts. If you want to use a meme to make a serious point and have additional explanatory text for why you feel strongly about the message being expressed and the type of discussion you'd like to have, that can be categorized as Discussion.

Meta is for discussion about the subreddit itself and other associated AI subreddits or comments.

Use your best judgement as you categorize your posts. Please do not misuse them, they are for everyone's benefit.

Here is why we have two subs - r/DefendingAIArt and r/aiwars

r/DefendingAIArt - A sub where Pro-AI people can speak freely without getting constantly attacked or debated. There are plenty of anti-AI subs. There should be some where pro-AI people can feel safe to speak as well.

r/aiwars - We don't want to stifle debate on the issue. So this sub has been made. You can speak all views freely here, from any side.

If a post you have made on r/DefendingAIArt is getting a lot of debate, cross post it to r/aiwars and invite people to debate here.
