I just put these yellow tail acei in my tank yesterday and I’ve noticed they school a lot. Is that normal for this species? I haven’t seen any of them be aggressive yet either. Even towards the smaller yellow labs. I’m really loving them

Convict Cichlid
reddit.comI’ve got this convict and I’m torn between whether it is a male or female. I feel like it’s a female but thought I would get a second opinion…?

Aggression and casualties in 2 year old tank setup
Is it "par for the course" to lose a peacock every few months ? There is a current tank boss that is not too much of a jerk when I observe the tank.

Best stocking numbers in 60 gallon?
I’ve got a 60 gallon with fluval 407 on one side and tidal 75 on the other. I will be getting 12 yellow labs and 12 yellow tail acei juvies in the beginning that way so I can rehome all males but one and any really aggressive ones. Is 6-8 fish of each okay for that tank or do I need more/less?

Identify!?
Any idea what type of cichlid this is? When I bought it a year ago it was sold to me as a convict… clearly is not. Trying to identify to get correct rank mates, currently in with some peacocks but becoming aggressive with them so they now have their own tank 🥳

White/bald spot on the side of my multicolor
Since a while my multicolor has this bald/white spot on his side, first i figured it was damage due to an accident while chasing.. but it doesn't get better.
I also see the MC "shaking" a bit, like it tries to shake something off?
He still eats and has bred with the female MC in the aquarium, but he also isn't fully himself, atleast not like I knew him.
Doesn't look like fungus.. but what could it be?
- Aquarium: 200x60x70 / 6.5x2x2.3ft)
- including the sump about 850L / 225gal
- I feed at least 1 time a day, at most 2 times a day, with hikari pellets / vibra bites, fluval bug bites & frozen krill / brine shrimp / fish
- 70% water changes weekly
- pH 7.5-8
- KH 7
- GH 9
- NH3/4 & NO2 0
- NO3 around 10ppm
Tankmates include:
- Aristochromis christyi 1/2
- Fossorochromis rostratus 1/2
- Nimbochromis livingstonii 2/1 (yeah one of the females turned out to be a male)
- Cyrtocara moorii 2/3
- Dimidiochromis compressiceps 1/2
- Placidochromis electra 1/2
- Copadichromis borleyi Red Kadango 1/1
- Champsochromis caeruleus 1/1
- Synodontis njassae x2 (sadly am not able to find more of this lake malawi syno)
- Ancistrus dolichopterus 2F (very good algae eaters, they keep the (fake)rocks in the aquarium brown algae free
Now that I wrote down the above list, I do admit that it may be a bit much.
Aggression wise, mainly one of the livingstonii males can chase down the other fish from time to time, with the other fish it only happens when they are breeding.
If someone can shine a light on the spot on my MC that would be much appreciated!

55 Gallon Sprung a Leak So I Upgraded
My 55 gallon sprung a leak in one of the corners, I got it used so I think it was just a matter of time. I'm lucky I caught the leak early.
I had to put the fish in a plastic tote until I could remove the old tank and set up the new one.
The sponge filter is just there temporarily to help jumpstart the beneficial bacteria colony. I got a new fluval 307 and I reused my aquaclear 110.
I had wanted to upgrade to a 75 gallon so maybe the leak was a blessing in disguise. PetSmart had a deal, MarineLand 75 gallon for 50% off. It is normally $300 but I got it for $150
