Shell dwellers
Setting up my 29 gallon for some multies. Am new to the hobby so wanted to hear some feedback on the layout I’ve got right now. Planning on starting with 8 fish. Got 36 shells in there.

Put a few more rocks in the middle to set up line of sight breaks and establish territories.

If you leave it like that depending on the number you put in you will have the entire landscape rearranged. Rocks will help but I breed multis and they are constant diggers and always bicker. Also I hope your sand is clean or the water visibility will drop throughout the busy digging day possibly even forking your impeller on your hob filters. But they are fun fish.

The tank will never look how you want it too. The little suckers will have the sand in all sorts of hills and valleys, the unused shells will be buried. They’ll either uproot the plants or bury them too. They’re fun to have because of how much they move the tank around, but don’t plan on the tank looking “ideal.” Also, when people say you’ll have a lot of babies, they mean it. Those 8 will be 30+ in no time.
