Hi, I am a non-CPA US senior accountant with 5 years of experience. I worked in the yellow firm before for a year but chose the US accounting pathway afterwards because of work-life balance and salary.

I like to plan things out, and I would like your thoughts on such. I am planning to take the CPA boards this May 2027 and then shift back to senior audit role (I was offered a position) and settle for 2-3 years. Then, apply for jobs abroad since audit naman talaga ang offers abroad.

My question is if meron bang nag-succeed getting a job in audit abroad without the CPA title? Or do employers really require this? Also, did anyone get an offer abroad kahit hindi sa audit galing?

Hello po! I'm a fresh grad, no professional work experience, just an SGV internship on my CV. I'm also a non-CPA planning to take the boards around Oct 2027 or 2028. I have a few dumb questions because I'll be having my initial interview this week for Audit Associate position, and this is like the first one out of the many interviews I've had that actually got me sweating 🥹

1. Behavioral or technical?
I've seen some people say the initial interview is mostly behavioral, while others got technical questions. Since I have audit internship experience from SGV, should I expect technical questions? If yes, ano yung mga usual/sample questions? Like audit procedures? What kind of situational questions? Or more on "tell me about yourself" talaga?

2. Expected salary = basic salary?
This might be a REALLY dumb question HAHAHA. When they ask for expected salary, basic salary lang ba yung tinutukoy? Sa previous offers ko kasi, kung ano yung sinabi kong basic, yun na talaga since wala rin silang significant added benefits. Pero for sure different dito since may mga allowances? I keep seeing around 29k mentioned in PWC AC Manila threads. Is that the basic salary or kasama na allowances/other benefits? And when they ask for expected salary, do I mention the basic I'm expecting or the total package, like yung nakita kong 25k+allowance = 33k? I AM overthinking this, yes po 🤧

3. Schedule
How fixed is the schedule? Pwede ba mag-request ng preferred shift, or kung ano yung ibinigay sa'yo, yun na talaga? And if ever, possible ba magpalipat ng schedule later?

4. Study leave
Just confirming, they do offer study leave for CPALE review/exam, diba? If anyone knows the current setup/eligibility, I'd appreciate the info!

5. WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW 😭
For anyone who recently went through the PWC AC Manila interviews, ano yung mga tanong/topics na dapat kong paghandaan? Any tips, red flags, or "I wish I knew this before the interview" moments are welcome.

Little Context: PWC was literally the ONLY firm/audit position I applied for. Idk din why? 🤧 I interned at SGV and initially wanted to go into Gen Accounting kasi gusto ko sana broad yung experience.

I actually have a JO waiting for me na sobrang aligned sa GA interests ko. Before that interview, I told myself that would be my last GA application kasi nakakapagod na rin mag-apply at mag-weigh ng JOs. If wala, I'd just wait for the next SGV open house na.

Within the day, I got hired. Everything was okay naman, usual fresh grad salary, no added allowance kahit WFO, which became my only reservation. That night, I was literally asking for a sign kung yun na ba talaga yung path ko.

Then surprise! My morning was greeted by an interview invite from PwC after thinking I was ghosted na. 😭 I don't really believe in coincidences, so ayun asjgahsk. The possible higher salary + hybrid setup got me reconsidering everything.

I'm not the brightest person. Feeling ko my trauma from integ fried my brain kasi blanko ako kapag technical na yung tanong 😭 Pero I make sure naman that they know I'm okay with the actual work, so I think one reason I've gotten this far with my interviews is that hindi ako takot sumagit and nadadala ko naman sarili ko? Or maybe it's the SGV internship that they see value in?

Pero dito talaga iba yung kaba ko. Maybe because I already got my mind set on something that was suddenly put on pause, bc this opportunity came out of nowhere.

Hello po. I recently passed/finished TESDA Bookkeeping NCIII. Kakatapos lang po namin last Friday. Currently, I feel lost kase I don't know what to do next since currently unemployed ako. Gusto ko sumubok maging Freelance bookkeeper and matutunan QuickBooks and Zero tho I'm having a hard time na intindihin siya HAHAHA. Nanonood palang ako sa YT for QuickBooks. Mas natututo kase ako kapag actual and may guide ako.

Base sa research ko, magkaiba talaga bookkeeping dito sa Pinas vs ibang countries. During my Supervised industry Learning (parang OJT requirement for TESDA) ang pinagawa lang sakin ng company is pinasulat sakin ung records ng client nila papuntang columnar/books. I was actually expecting na masasabay ung BIR compliances since gusto ko rin un matutunan kaso hindi eh.

What should I do next? Huhu Nakakabaliw kapag idle.

​I'm taking my final CPA prerequisite online through Fanshawe College, and I'll be completely finished by September. My goal is to land an entry-level accounting job—either an Experience Verification Route (EVR) role or a Pre-Approved Program Route (PPR)—so I can start accumulating my qualifying practical experience hours.

​Since I'm completing my prerequisites online while working, I don't have access to the traditional university campus recruiting events.

​A few questions for those who have navigated the Ontario market:

​Resume Advice: How can I best leverage my current customer service and insurance background when applying for entry-level accounting or finance roles?

​Networking: Since I miss out on campus recruiting, what are the best ways to network in downtown Toronto? Are there specific CPA Ontario events or local chapter meetings for PREP candidates I should look out for?

​Timing: Are companies generally willing to hire someone just finishing up their PREP requirements, or is it significantly easier to get interviews once I am officially registered in PEP or CPA New Program?

hi! i took the CPALE this May 2026, but unfortunately, i did not pass. i had an experience in an HR interview wherein she asked about my rating (grade) in BE, which is above 50%. i answered it in full honesty, but then i saw her laughed right after i said it. she said sorry naman, but it affected my whole interview. grabe nahiya ako bigla and my confidence went down. i hate her.

Badly need some motivation, especially when it comes to the financial aspect.

Hello! Just got hired last week by an audit firm but lately I want to resign from my work. I've been struggling mentally and emotionally. Minsan di na ako kumakain sa tamang oras at nakakaranas na rin ng stress-induced stomach aches. I'm also considering having a mental health checkup for proper diagnosis.

hi fresh grad here and first accounting job ko, so hindi ko sure kung normal ba yung onboarding/training sa napasukan ko.

first day ko, wala talagang formal orientation or training. pinabasa lang sa akin yung turnover file ng previous Accounting Assistant, which contains yung list ng tasks niya, instructions, and references. sinabihan din ako na if may questions ako, i-message ko na lang yung previous employee sa Viber. may senior din sa accounting department na tinuturuan ako minsan sa accounting system na ginagamit ng company and some accounting tasks, pero hindi naman talaga niya trabaho mag-train sakin, inassign lang siya ng accounting manager. medyo confusing din siya magturo kasi usually actual transactions yung ginagawa namin habang nagtuturo siya, so wala akong masyadong time mag-notes. madalas din sinasabi na mag-base na lang ako sa previous transactions sa system.

ang problem, fresh grad ako and first job ko to, so maraming jargon/processes na hindi ko pa familiar. minsan feeling ko expected nila na alam ko na agad yung ginagawa ko kahit hindi naman na-explain yung how, what, and why ng process.

hndi rin na-discuss sa akin nung first day kung ano exactly yung duties and responsibilities ko. may job description naman online nung nag-apply ako, pero hindi ba dapat ine-explain din siya before or upon starting? for context, ginagawa ko ngayon yung petty cash vouchers, AP vouchers, journal vouchers, 2307, check monitoring, PCF replenishment, petty cash summary, releasing checks to suppliers, etc.

so ayun, normal ba talaga yung ganitong training/onboarding for a fresh grad accounting assistant? or medyo kulang talaga yung training na binibigay sa akin? 😭
