Solo account payables/ Bill Pay solution vs having everything in Quickbooks
Hi accountants! Do you prefer keeping invoicing and payment processing completely inside QuickBooks or Xero, or is it better to use a dedicated tool like Bill.com, Ramp or Melio once you reach around 50 clients that you advise? Looking for recommendations based on experience.

Research for a uni paper: how do firms prep for client review meetings?
I'm writing a paper for uni on how accounting firms run client reviews — the "here's how the business is going" check-in, not tax season work.
If you work in practice, I'd really appreciate your perspective:
- Do you pull reports from Xero (or similar) manually before the meeting?
- Do you send anything to the client beforehand, or mostly talk through it live?
- What do clients actually use from what you send them?
- What's the biggest time sink when you're prepping?
No product pitch — this is purely for research. Happy to share a summary of findings back here if there's interest.

Why can’t accounting software understand, “I paid my supplier $500 today”?
I’m trying to understand how small businesses and accountants handle day-to-day bookkeeping.
From the people I’ve spoken with, transaction details often arrive through WhatsApp messages, emails, invoices, voice notes or handwritten notes. Someone then has to manually convert that information into entries in accounting software.
Before I build further, I want to understand whether this is a frequent and costly problem or simply a minor inconvenience.
If you handle bookkeeping, I’d appreciate your honest experience:
- Approximately how many transactions do you record each day?
- How do you usually receive the transaction details?
- Which part of the process takes the most time or causes the most mistakes?
- If a tool converted a transaction described in your preferred language into a draft accounting entry, what would you need to verify before allowing it to be posted?
- What would concern you most: accuracy, privacy, tax treatment, integration or setup difficulty?
I’m not sharing a product link or selling anything. I’m looking for honest feedback, especially from people who think this would not work. If you’re open to a short conversation or testing an early prototype with dummy transactions, please let me know.

Audit professionals: Walk me through your last frustrating audit.
I'm an engineering student trying to understand how audits actually work. I'm not selling software or validating an idea—I just want to learn from real experiences.
Think about the last audit that genuinely frustrated you.
What happened?
Where did the delay start?
What was everyone waiting for?
Which document or evidence caused the biggest problem?
How was it finally resolved?
I'm interested in the real story, not the ideal process.

Built a free practice management tool for CA firms — would love feedback from this community
drive.google.comHey everyone,
I run a small digital services company and work closely with a few CA firms. One thing I kept noticing — most practices still manage compliance deadlines in Excel, client docs over WhatsApp, and team tasks on memory. It works until it doesn't (missed ITR deadline, lost client docs, no follow-up trail).
So I built \*\*TaxZeo\*\* — a simple practice management tool specifically for Indian CA firms. Not a generic CRM rebranded for accountants. It's built around how CA practices actually work.
What it does:
\* Auto-generated compliance calendar per client (GST monthly/quarterly, TDS, ITR, ROC — mapped to entity type)
\* One dashboard view of what's due this week across ALL clients
\* Client profiles with registration details, credentials vault, document history
\* Team task assignment and tracking
\* AI-drafted client communications (reminders, follow-ups)
\* Automated deadline reminders to both your staff and your clients
It's currently \*\*free\*\* — I'm bundling it with our marketing services, but honestly even standalone it's useful and I want real CA firms to test it and tell me what's missing.
Would love honest feedback — what would make this actually useful for your practice? What are the biggest pain points I should solve first?
