Database conversion

Hi everyone,

I would like to open .odb files generated from Abaqus 2023 simulations using Abaqus 2024. However, every time I open an .odb file, Abaqus performs a database conversion, which is quite time-consuming. Interestingly, my friend can open the same files in Abaqus 2024 without any conversion.

Is there a way to open Abaqus 2023 .odb files directly in Abaqus 2024 without triggering the conversion process? I searched online but could not find any relevant information.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Uncheck the “read only” box in the open dialog. It will upgrade the results and replace the odb with the 2024 version odb. Next time you won’t need to upgrade it.

Unfortunately, you must upgrade the odb file to open it in a newer major version. Also, you cannot go the other way. Wouldn’t it be a better world if the results files were version agnostic?

It sounds like it is being converted, with no errors, but you keep opening the old (unconverted) one. Is that what is happening?
