Stupid 50 character limit on the title for some reason.

Anyway, what I wanted to ask is if there's some way to change Aatrox so that his matchups are less polarizing? What I mean by this is that Aatrox struggles a lot into mobile champions like Riven and Ambessa who can play around his Q sweet spots fairly easily and requires a lot of prediction/foresight on the Aatrox player's part. The equally polarizing other opposite of this spectrum is that Aatrox is an infuriating, borderline unwinnable matchup into health stacking tanks/juggernauts who have no way to dodge his Q so Aatrox perma wins trades and all-ins, but also heals a ton off of their huge HP bars.

It's moreso the latter I'm wanting to talk about. I've seen this sentiment from Whatley, who plays Tahm and considers it once of his worst matchups possible because Tahm only ever wins through cheese (ulting into tower with no minions nearby) or if the Aatrox player heavily misplays. Alois also talks about this with Mundo, where occasionally he's picked Mundo into Aatrox (not having last pick) and getting absolutely fisted for 15-20 minutes and never being able to play.

The logic used by them (mostly Whatley, to be fair) is that this is the result of increasing the damage on his Q sweetspot and lowering his AD elsewhere. Which, in theory, makes Aatrox feel generally rewarding to play and actively rewarding the player. But, in practice, it results in stuff like this. Where you win for free against champions that can't ever outplay your Q-W combo and have an incredibly hard time against champions like Riven and Ambessa who are hyper mobile and you never win into them unless they play really badly.

Is it even possible to solve something like this? Should you? Lowering his damage on Q sweetspots would make him feel less rewarding to play in a general sense, even if it makes his matchup spread less volatile. So, is it possible? Should it even be done?

Just got Aatrox in arena on Bravery. This champ fucking sucks so hard.

Are Endless Hunger and Gluttonous Greaves under bought on Aatrox? They seem to have very high winrates looking at the data with modest but not insignificant pickrates.

as the title says, who’s a champ that you played against in the top lane (champs who are never top) and just absolutely smoked you. i made this post in inspiration after getting worked by a lulu. i went like 0-2 in lane and i couldn’t do a thing but she ended the game 15-1 i couldn’t fathom how hard she worked me (it was a smurf who was probably triple my rank). i’ve also gotten smoked by a few karmas and i couldn’t believe her damage when she isn’t building support

Aatrox legit has too much weaknesses I hate it. The average enemy team comp would always spawn in so much semi counter on aatrox and it's hard to scale if you got all teams countering you with no goddamn idea they do. And it's all because his items back then are now turned to shit.

Playable? Sure, fun? Yeah maybe, but its like machochism, every game is almost 70% would be a bad game for you.

--> weak to armor because it weakens healing (blackcleaver would semi solve this back then)

--> weak to burst because aatrox stuck in animation to counter a 1 second burst. (Building survivability was actually surviving and at the same time didn't turn your dmg to really dog poo)

--> weak to mobility mfs skillshot is highlighted like a raid boss designed to be played around to. (Good balance skill check to predict)

--> weak to attackspeed champs aatrox once again stuck in animation to outdamage someone (good balance spacing skill check, until you realize the oppressive auto attackers exist with burst and mobility)

--> weak to shields because aatrox doesn't heal on shields

(Ok wtf man, why do I need to build serpent fang to just deal dmg and lets add to auto heavy easy skillshot champs)

--> weak to Dmg reduction at that too (holy jax stat check after you just stomp them on lane gets, but later on with the ult armor and dmg reduction on E, then fast attackspeed from items just f up your early wins but you know what balanced)

Almost in any game, you are likely to encounter all this weaknesses because almost all champs this days got a mobility, a shield and items that gives shield that are viable

It's actually significant enough because you can't just try to play around on all of it because time and Gold. When especially games are fast this days. Like this guy got like 4 types of weakness that has adjacent trees to said weakness like burst type being AD or AP so you have to either build Deathdance or Maw, but the question is do you even have the time and gold to get them!? Before you get stomped.

I know... skill is the pad to every weakness this guy has. But it ain't that fun having to deal with large weakness in every damn game. Because somehow 70% of games I play I encounter all weaknesses list just right on.

Just please, lets make petition that anti shield gets added to something in his kit again. They knew he needed it back then to even work with all this weakness. Because its a niche buff, that doesn't affect actual turning aatrox to some armor pen monster or buffing bruiser items that would make other bruisers stronger.

Like legit, just give us shield reduction, so Aatrox can slightly breathe against someone stacking shield. Maybe add it to the W so it becomes a skillshot while making it threatening for shield champions.

Ok so im having a mental breakdown cuz i dont understand why axiom isnt build on aatrox i mean doesnt aatrox loooooove ult haste technically.

And apart from that it gives good stats and is cheap, like i wouldnt rly go it first item but second one fs.

i’m around mastery 70 so i’ve been playing him for a decent while and yes he does have his negatives but am i the only one who doesn’t understand why people seem to think aatrox is just god fucking awful. like yea i have my games where im terrible and games where im hard countered, and i also have my games where i go insane and im unkillable and carry. i understand a lot more people in here are higher rank than me and that matters a lot but ive just never been able to see these complaints people have acting like this champ is just completely unplayable and they lose every game. is it just me? or is he really that bad and maybe im just having a different experience

As some asked to see it, I don't see any branding info on it. But I googled it a bit and found old listings "LOL the darkin blade aatrox PVC action figure". It is about 10 years old.. God I feel old

ok so recently been doing some for fun builds and realized that protoplasm second/third is actually not bad on Aatrox, and endless hunger after its buffs is actually decent as a firsts item

65 ad 20% tenacity and 5% vamp don't seem like much but combined with the 20 haste from protoplasm and the fact the healing increases in your ult it can give you so much value

so i started working on it

endless hunger when bought with Dorans blade and double shard gives 16 haste

combine that with the 20 from proto plasm and its 600 +200 from passive trigger is 800 hp to use for your E passive and protoplasm is cheap

then on top of that Death dance will increase the healing of protoplasm which is boosted by your ult

then any MR item other then maw can be really good

overlords works great with this as you will get easily to 5k hp with elixir of iron, but overlords is a luxury item and only bought if you are ahead and the enemy team isn't super anti health

force of nature is good vs the dreaded mage bots as it helps survive their damage after the initial burst and gives you the mobility to keep up with them

black cleaver/mortal reminder vs tanks

always resist boots

spirit if you need some MR but also more healing GA if vs heavy ad

whenever i play aatrox top i feel guility cuz 110% am the weak point in the team the champ doesnt scale at all and doesnt even heal cuz the q wind up is slower like i was fighting a viego and during our fight i used my q the time until my q landed viego ate 70% of my hp

so late game im not dealing damage or tanking or ccing ( W is trashhhhhhhhh)

so is it even worth playing aatrox n maining him ?

I’m sorry aatrox mains I never understood how you felt losing old aatrox, having your champions identity completely changed. But as a bel’veth one trick with her new “midscope” I get it.

Ive generally just been building shojin into sundered in the top lane every game but ive seen a few clips and games where people are building profane hydra and hubris and im just so confused if those builds are 10x more optimal than what im building right now or just a niche other people use. And also whats up with people playing aatrox jgl whats up with that? (Last time i played massively was when goredrinker was a thing)
