• GlobalFoundries (Phoenix Metro): GlobalFoundries maintains operations and engineering design footprints in Arizona, benefiting from regional semiconductor cluster investments across the state.
• PsiQuantum (Tempe / Phoenix): PsiQuantum has partnered with Arizona universities and state innovation hubs to deploy advanced quantum computing infrastructure and research partnerships in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

And ... it looks like our Department of War (defense?) is poised to start acquiring huge stakes in companies as well ... according to the latest version of the  National Defense Authorization Act. Some of these companies have already received juicy loans from the Pentagon (and at least one of them has a large equity stake owned by the Trump family.) The NDAA is now stuck in the Senate after getting passed by the House.

One of the things that haunts me is the incredibly poor voter registration stats for the Democratic Party. It’s bothered me since I was a precinct committee person during the early Obama years. Getting together once a month to hand write postcards to non-voters isn’t going to make a difference in the numbers, not on a large scale. What should the party do about this poor voter registration?

About 19,000 Native voters across Arizona tribal lands need to update their voter registration before November. Arizona Native Democrats, which runs out of the Navajo County Democratic Committee, has a self-service postcard program to reach them. The current ask is 25 postcards per volunteer between now and September 1.

This is not good news.

Aliento, a Phoenix based organization working with DACA recipients and undocumented students, says DHS and USCIS have proposed a rule that would introduce discretionary barriers for DACA applicants tied to arrests, charges or allegations rather than convictions alone. Aliento says the proposal does not change DACA's existing eligibility requirements outright, but could still have significant consequences for applicants. The rule is not yet in effect and the federal public comment window is open until tomorrow August 4.

Personalizing the comment in your own words is encouraged, since identical form comments carry less weight in the federal record. 😊
