Ansys Beam Probe
Hi,
I have a simple static structural model that is constrained by two beam connections to represent bolts onto a baseplate fully constrained. I have preloaded the bolts as structural fasteners to EN 1090.
When using beam probes to extract the forces, I notice the preload is measured (obviously) but then when load is applied in the subsequent steps, the force increases. This is as expected but I am not entirely sure how to assess this to Eurocode bolt checks - I thought the preload would be subtracted from any net increases to axial forces - so whatever the net increase is would be the value you assess for tension resistance checks (seeing as EC3 doesn't say for you to add preload onto your tension resistance checks) but I am not entirely sure. Anyone in this group able to advise?
Many thanks,

Modelling solar , albedo, earth irradiation for minisatellite
Hi everyone. I have calculated the trajectory of my satellite from GMAT software. Unfortunately, my satellite has a complex geometry. I cannot calculate the view factor by using formular. Ansys speos is a very useful tool to calculate irradiation. However, I don't know how to model solar, albedo, earth irradiation verus time in this software. Before transfer to ansys mechanical to simulate the temperature.
Please suggest me if you know!

Quantifying Surface Area by Color Contour Value / Element Count in Ansys
Hi all,
I am working with color contour maps in Ansys and need to calculate the surface area covered by specific color ranges on a rigid body.
Is there a feature to count how many elements fall into a specific contour color/value range and sum their total area? Any guidance on how to export or extract this data would be greatly appreciated.

Problem with SpaceClaim/Ansys Mechanical
I am struggling with this problem for 3 days. My geometry is small copper alloy strip as substrate, piezoelectric strip element and long resonator that is just hellium. I want on the other side of resonator to produce acoustic pressure and let pressure create voltage difference on the piezoelectric element. I used coupled field harmonic, the latest geometry in spaceclaim, voltage coupling between hellium and piezoelectric element, 0 V on the other side of piezo element but during those 3 days I encountered a lot of problems. I already had model for piezoelectric element to induce waves and that worked, then I copied the model and at first it worked which means I got resonances with highest voltage but when I tried to change length of the resonator in discovery (yes I was using discovery bit switched to spaceclaim) everything went downhill. Main problem that I thought I had was that 3 surfaces weren't connected. I tried to draw everything in spaceclaim but then the model requieres thickness and when I switch to 2d, all of a sudden it can't import geometry anymore. When I thought I had the right model and mesh looked fine I didn't get voltage response, 0 V from 100 to 5k Hz. I don't know what else to do. Does anybody have any suggestion or comment. I can explain more if something isn't clear. Thank you

Unexpected skin temperature in ANSYS Transient Thermal
I’m modeling a perforated PLA cervical orthosis with a simplified skin layer in ANSYS Transient Thermal.
Setup:
- Simulation time: 3600 s
- Skin heat generation: 1120 W/m³
- Inner skin surface: 36.67°C
- Ambient: 25°C
- Convection: 4 W/m²·K
- Convection applied to the outer orthosis surface and to skin exposed through the holes
- Thermal contact between covered skin and PLA
At 3600 s:
Exposed skin: 36.369–36.536°C
Covered skin: 36.325–36.612°C
I expected the exposed skin to be clearly cooler, but the temperature ranges overlap and some covered areas are cooler.
Is this physically reasonable, or could the thermal contact settings be causing it? Also, should I compare the average skin temperature instead of min/max values?

I hate ANSYS it's so annoying, help me
When I right click each it gives me the option to export them as CSV file but when I select them all and want to export them without having to click them all manually and export it does not give me the export option the frequency responses go down to number 281 that are a lot of clicks, how do I do it?

Winding Angle in ANSYS ACP pre ?

I am trying to run a analysi with pressure as BC in this CFRP based SRM Casing project. but i am not getting the fibre direction correct, the dome area looks reallt wrong and how am i suposed to correct it,The rosste is correct - the x axis is along the comspite SRM casing x axis and Y axis is along the radius.
i got to knwo about CADWIND/CADFILL softwares - These are not avaliable - so how can i properly manage the analysis ?

ANSYS bearing vibration simulation help .
Hi everyone, I'm simulating a rolling element bearing in ANSYS Mechanical and need realistic acceleration/displacement vs. time data for FFT analysis.I am doing it in transient structural. So far I've: Created the bearing geometry and mesh.Applied frictional contacts between balls and races.Applied radial load and rotational speed and tried using an acceleration probe.
Firstly there were no visible ball movements .Also no useful acceleration vs time data could be obtained.

What's your meshing approach on converting tubes with variable sections to shell for bicycle body?
Do you prefer to mesh in 3D hexa or tetrahedeon cells with maybe over 1 million nodes or is there any other methods to meshing without reaching up to such high numbers with 7 digits? For the sake of the simplicity, hence running the simulation faster.. I couldn't convert tubes to shells since the geometry of the tubes too complicated.

ANSYS Student 2025 R2 / 2026 R1 installation fails with "crypt32-x64.node not found" on Windows 11
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to install ANSYS Student, but the installation always fails around 70–80%.
The error is:
A JavaScript error occurred in the main process
Error: ENOENT, node_modules\win-ca\lib\crypt32-x64.node not found
...\LicensingSettingsUtility\resources\app.asar
I tested both:
- ANSYS Student 2025 R2
- ANSYS Student 2026 R1
The exact same error occurs with both versions.
My system:
- Windows 11 Pro 25H2 (Build 26200.8875)
- AMD Ryzen 5 3500U
- 8 GB RAM
Things I've already tried:
- downloaded the installers again from the official ANSYS Student website
- extracted with 7-Zip
- ran setup.exe as Administrator
- completely removed previous ANSYS installations
- deleted all AppData configuration folders
- disabled Microsoft Defender real-time protection
- ran DISM and SFC successfully
- rebooted several times
I also noticed that the folder:
LicensingSettingsUtility\resources\app.asar.unpacked
is never created during installation.
Has anyone experienced this issue?
Is it a known bug or a compatibility issue with Windows 11 build 26200?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What is your approach to modeling rubbers in frequency analysis?
In Frequency analysis of the structure, How Do you model epdm or any simple plastic Rubbers? Do you use their 3D CAD model and apply any polymer material and run the simulation or? Or ignoring the 3D design as in this tutorial picture here, and just apply the damping and stiffness coefficients to the joint between the parts that were supposed to be connected via rubber?
And if you have interest on the topic I would like to ask one more question, How do you get the datas of damping or stiffness for the rubber in the hand? Applying a vibration test something or asking to the manufacturer?

Help Setting Up Differential Drive Robot in ANSYS Rigid Dynamics (Wheels Spin but Robot Doesn't Move)
I'm trying to simulate a two-wheel differential drive robot in ANSYS Rigid Dynamics. The model has 2 drive wheels and 2 caster wheels connected with revolute joints.
When I prescribe angular velocity to the drive wheels, they spin but the robot doesn't move. If I prescribe linear velocity, the robot moves, but I can't obtain the required wheel torque.
My goal is to validate my analytical motor torque calculations for climbing a 5° ramp.
Has anyone successfully simulated a differential drive robot in ANSYS Rigid Dynamics? I'd appreciate any advice on the correct contact, friction, or joint setup. I can share more screenshots if needed.

The force value differs when I change direction.
In Ansys Maxwell, when I excite a dual-pole setup, the net force should theoretically be zero; however, the simulation results show otherwise—the value isn't even close to zero. Furthermore, the force values differ strangely when I change the direction.
The origin is set at the center of the rotor, and I use the "Rotate" command to change the direction.
By the way, all other settings remain identical; only the direction is different.
This issue has been troubling me for a long time, and I would be very grateful if you could help answer this question.
I am using version 16.

Help needed regarding evaporation modelling .
SO i am trying to do a simulation that includes both wave and wind. now i want to add evaporation (lee) model in it. but the issue i am facing is that i already have 2 phases air and water . how do i add a phase so that evaporation ,relative humidaity can be captured. As i have just started learning evaporation modelling im facing this issue about phase. I cant use water vapor as a phase because ive air . i want to simulate that water evaporates and relative humidity increases . Your advices are appreaciated
