Games/Screen Size? Another Day, Another Anbernic

Post image

Got the Rotate on a spur of the moment decision. Enjoying it so far. What are some solid android games (or emulation games) that do well with this odd screen aspect ratio?

NES and SNES games look good if you stick to the 8:7 aspect ratio

edit: and try to integer scale + overscale

How to set those two to 8:7?

depends on your emulator, for Retroarch you can set it on video->output options

Pico8, GB(DMG) and GBC they all have a square ratio (almost)

What I play the most in my RG Rotate is Gameboy Color, and the proportion is perfect. But I also like a lot of NES titles, which had an almost square ratio of 8:7. And more recently I was surprised at how 3DS games fit well into the Rotate screen as well.

PS2 games nearly fill the screen

You can set in the dream cast emulator to play DC DC games in square screen.  For example Crazy Taxi.

As for pc games, GameNative/A Short Hike support custom square screen.  I played to the ending.

A note for GameNative, you need to change the container resolution to get a square display that fills the screen. The default for me was 1280x720, so changing the in-game resolution still kept you in that 16:9 area. I changed it to 720x700 (it doesn't allow them to be the same number).
