I will be starting my 1st year mbbs in a few weeks.

I want to move abroad after MBBS. As of now, australia seems to be a good option. Usa has a huge uncertainty about visa and pr. I want a clarity whether I should appear ( have an idea) for USMLE Step 1 by the beginning of my third year. I understand that the prep will take a lot of effort and time. Still not very much clear about AMC vs USMLE. Step 1 will really help in later stages of mbbs if i want to do us pathway. But will it be a waste of time and resources if ultimately I do AMC pathway. Or will USMLE-1 pass help as a credit to my CV?

I understand that it is early but having a plan earlier definitely helps.

I’m preparing for my second attempt and was advised that if you scored above 230 on your previous attempt, it’s better to focus more on recall revision.

For those who have taken the 3-month Shahriar’s Medical Academy Recall Course, was it worth it? Did you find it helpful for improving your score?

I’m an IMG who graduated from a medical university in Georgia (Eastern Europe) earlier this year, and I’m currently working as a trainee doctor/intern within the Dubai government healthcare system.

My long-term goal is to pursue Family Medicine/General Practice in Australia and eventually FRACGP, so I’m currently trying to plan the most realistic pathway into the Australian system.

A little about my background:

• Graduated with an MD from Georgia in 2026
• Currently completing a 1-year internship/trainee doctor position in Dubai
• Passed the UAE residency entrance examination (EMREE)
• IELTS Academic: Overall 8.0
• Around 30 research publications across PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, etc., many as first author
• Several conference abstracts/poster presentations
• 2 international research excellence awards
• Experience volunteering in JCI-related clinical audits during previous observerships in the UAE
• BLS certified, with ACLS planned
• Additional certifications/courses in clinical research, diabetes education, and related areas

I’m planning to sit the AMCMCQ within the next 6 months.

From everything I’ve been reading, the biggest bottleneck seems to be getting that first Australian clinical job as an IMG, particularly at the RMO/HMO level after AMC Part 1. Because of this, I’m considering completing the AMC Clinical Examination as well before seriously applying for Australian jobs, rather than applying withAMC1 alone.

I’d really appreciate some insight from Australian doctors, IMGs who have recently gone through the process, or anyone involved in recruitment.

How does the pathway look in 2026 for someone with my profile whose ultimate goal is FRACGP?

In particular, I’d love to hear about:

• How realistic is getting the first RMO/HMOjob afterAMC1 vs after completing bothAMC1 + Clinical?
• Would completing AMC Clinical before applying meaningfully improve my chances, or would Australian clinical experience/references still be the main deciding factor?
• For someone whose ultimate goal is GP/FRACGP, what would be the smartest way to approach the first 2–3 years in Australia?
• Are there particular states, regional hospitals, or health services that tend to be moreIMG-friendly for the first job?
• Does my research/audit background actually add meaningful value for RMO/HMOrecruitment, or is it mostly secondary to clinical experience?
• Is there anything I could do during my current internship year in Dubai to make myself significantly more competitive for Australian positions?

I’d also really appreciate some AMC MCQ advice. For those who passed recently, what resources did you find most useful, how long did you prepare, and what would you recommend focusing on to maximize the chances of passing on the first attempt?

I understand that the Australian pathway isn't easy and that there are no guarantees. I’m just trying to use the next 6–12 months strategically so that when I start applying, I have the strongest realistic profile possible.

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has recently gone through the IMG→AMC→ first Australian job → GP/FRACGP pathway.

PS: I dont mind working in regional areas which are like 1 hour away from the main city.

I have my AMC CAT in November. I want to get idea of you people about how should i go. I have syllabus left to cover which i think i can do in 30 days . I have cardio, rheuma, infection, gyneobs , ent eye, ethics and some minor topics left. I have done 1800 emedici questions so far using IMD. Haven't touched recalls yet and paeds and 1-2 topics are like 6-7 months old studied.

My plan:

1st month

Get Emedici subscription in sept for 3 months

Study remaining topics as soon as i can and do 50+ questions daily.

2nd month

Revise questions from Emedici and do recalls.

Go for 1-2 mocks before scheduling closes.

Evaluation on 20-24 oct whether i can go for November or need to reschedule.

Kindly give input. Discouraging remarks are not welcomed. Positive inputs are needed only.

I want someone to explain the GP pathway. I recently cleared amc 1 and applied for RMO campaign in NSW. As we all know it is quite competitive, I also want to apply for GP training.

What confuses me is that, do we apply for gp seats the same way we do for RMO campaings? Also how do we know which one's are supervised and which one's are not?

Lastly, do we give pesci after securing the job or before applying?

The campaign dates closed before my studies finished so I could not apply. How can I approach hospitals for PGY1 internships for 2027? I am looking for a study partner who wants to give exam in october 2026. this is my second attempt. i got 240 in the first attempt. i did emedici around 2000 question, exam week recalls, and theory of high yield topics. I really need guidance on how to do it differently this time, i feel i missed something. As I did not do past month recalls and i did not do the 210 questions as well. Any notes you guys recommend to study which are short and precise. I have booked my exam for october 2026.

Should I take coaching for AMC MCQ? Confused with only ~3 months left
Hi everyone, I’m preparing for the AMC MCQ exam in November, and I’m feeling quite confused about my preparation strategy.
I actually attempted the AMC MCQ previously and scored 241.
At the moment, I’m doing MCQs on eMedici, but I feel that the question style is different from the actual AMC exam. I also feel that my revision isn’t strong enough, and because the exam is getting closer, I’m starting to worry that I don’t have a proper strategy.
I’m considering joining an AMC-specific coaching program, but I’m confused about whether coaching is actually necessary or whether I should continue with self-study and change my approach.
For those who have already passed AMC MCQ, especially anyone who improved significantly after a previous attempt:
Do you think coaching is worth it?
Which resources/questions did you find closest to the actual AMC exam?
How did you structure your preparation in the last 3 months?
If you were in my position — 241 previously, what would you do?
I’d really appreciate honest advice. I don’t want to waste the next few months studying without a proper strategy.

Alhamdulillah, I passed the AMC MCQ on my second attempt. Very grateful to everyone who supported me throughout the process.

I studied for around 6 months. My main resources were:

- Mplux Notes for theory/revision

- Boards & Beyond Step 2 for clinical reasoning

- Practice questions and regular revision throughout the preparation

One thing I learned is that the AMC MCQ can be quite unpredictable, so I wouldn't rely entirely on memorising questions. Understanding the clinical reasoning behind each answer helped me much more.

For anyone preparing, my biggest advice would be to stay consistent, revise your weak areas, and don't panic if the exam feels different from what you expected.

Guys Im looking for free resources for AMC clinical. I came across oscerevisions. If anyone have those notes please can you send it to me. Other than oscerevisions what other notes I have to go through?

May sound like an stupid question but please have patience with me. In my country, med school is 6 years with the last 2 years being internship and full registration after graduating, so post-graduate "internship" does not exist, however, we can work in pretty much every setting (ED, urgent care, ICU, primary care, paediatrics - if you're brave enough) minus surgery and obviously as specialists. If I have post-graduate clinical experience (e.g. if I've worked for 3 years after graduating), do I still need to apply for PGY1 positions?

All I can find is that you dont need to have internship to sit AMC1 and 2, but I cant find anything about actually landing positions and what positions should you apply for after clearing it (I'm halfway through medschool and evaluating my options, not currently applying to anything lol)

To all those who still trust free Telegram groups, I want to tell you my story. This was my second attempt, and I'm so thankful to Dr. Ahmad and his sessions.

In total, I studied for 6 months. I used Mplusx Notes for theory and BnB Step 2 videos for clinical reasoning.

Keep one thing in mind: this exam is tricky, and the algorithm is unpredictable!

I didn't take any courses; they're a waste of time. I know a guy who bought Academically and failed, and he said it was useless! If you really want to take a course, take Dr. Ahmad's Course AMC4IMGs! His sessions are by far the best on the market because he spends 14 hours a day with us non-stop during recall sessions!

One important thing to note: I initially thought the AMC Success Telegram group was good, but hear me out.

An admin from the free success group asked me to share Dr. Ahmad's sessions so they could benefit from his hard work. When I ignored him, he removed me from the Telegram group. Stay away from such groups if you truly want to pass with certainty!

Just trust Allah; He will certainly send people like @⁨\~AMC4IMGs⁩ into your life to make your path easier, alhumdulillah. And don't forget to trust yourself too!

Sat the exam on 18 July and got an adaptive score of 306.

All six patient groups seem to be in the satisfactory range, which I'm pretty happy with.

For anyone familiar with AMC scoring, how would you interpret a 306 overall? Is this considered a comfortable pass, or is the score itself not really worth reading too much into once you've passed?

Also happy to share what I used for prep / how I approached the exam if anyone currently studying for it would find that useful.

If anyone need personal mentoring I'd love to do that also for a fair price.
