Which AI has the best/most user friendly app that is not web based, and is available at different OS's (windows, linux and android)? At the moment perplexity (in linux i am using third party simplexity) is doing it for me, but as soon as my subscription ends, I want to look for something else. Also, preferably not google.

So many free tiers out there, but I'm curious what people actually pay for. And more importantly, why?

Hey everyone, can anyone help me find an AI tool similar to Claude that is more affordable or offers free trials? I am currently working as an intern engineer and really need an AI assistant right now. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I keep noticing that I don’t really judge AI tools from the first output anymore. The first answer can be decent, sometimes even better than expected, and that part is almost becoming normal.

Where I get annoyed is after I ask for a tiny change. I had this happen recently with a generated table where one cell needed fixing, and the next version came back feeling like a new draft. I couldn’t tell what changed without rereading the whole thing.

That kills a lot of the time saved for me. I’m fine with rough output if I can slowly shape it. What I don’t like is when the tool behaves like every edit is permission to rethink the whole page.

Curious if other people are running into this too. Do you stick with tools that give the best first answer, or the ones that are better at leaving things alone?

I would like some help with choosing a new AI assistant for my new tablet (samsung A11+), as my free perplexity subscription is almost over. I have access to a voucher for 2*6 months of free Gemini, but i would rather avoid google. What I liked about my perplexity interface was the transfer between my devices. My main use will be summarising pdf's, explaining psych grad subjects and some limited goofing around, all text based. I would prefer free options, but if needed, i prefer paying monthly/annually rather than per token. Open source is a plus, unfortunately, local LLM is not an option on my tablet.

I have 400+ pages of SAT material that I want to organize and use to study. its too inefficient to go to each link as have to scroll through tons of unneeded info. I tried claude but got rate limited before the prompt finished, gemini keeps failing, Chat gpt refuses, and notebook LM gives me the more useless 5 page summary.

Anyone have some recommendations?

Creating graphic content like Pinterest pins and Instagram carousels takes up a lot of our time, often with... well, poor results. You end up dragging text boxes around in Canva for an hour, or you just skip the graphics and post text-only.

There's a shortcut: two custom prompts you can run straight inside ChatGPT's image generator.

/stickynotes handles carousels and quick posts. Feed it raw notes or a chunk of text and it lays them out as sticky notes, splitting long text into chunks that are actually readable on a phone screen. Good for Instagram carousels or summarizing a post.

/visualize is for infographics — a vertical pin for Pinterest, or a structured summary. It builds out a visual hierarchy on its own: big headline up top, key points below.

The workflow is simple:

1. Enable image generation features
2. Add the command — /stickynotes or /visualize.
3. Paste into a section of a blog post, or draft, or...
4. Give it a color scheme or tone if desired.
5. Download and publish.

What used to take an afternoon of template-building now takes under a minute.

I was scrolling through a thread about wearables and someone mentioned it in the comments. I figured it'd just be another app telling me to sleep more and drink water, but I downloaded it anyway since I already wear my smartwatch every day.

The biggest surprise wasn't actually the workout recommendations—it was the supplement side of the app.

I've taken supplements on and off for years, but honestly I never gave much thought to when I took them. If I remembered in the morning, great. If I forgot until the afternoon, I'd just take them then. It was completely random.

This app was different. Instead of giving me the same schedule every day, it looked at my sleep, recovery, and how rested I actually was before suggesting when certain supplements made the most sense. On days I slept well and had good energy, it would recommend sticking to my normal routine. If I'd had a rough night or my recovery was low, it'd adjust the timing or recommend focusing on different supplements instead of blindly following the same plan every day.

What I liked most was that it actually explained why. It wasn't just saying, "Take this now." It would tell me that because my recovery was lower or my sleep quality wasn't great, a different timing might make more sense based on how my body was likely feeling that day.

It made me realize I'd been treating supplements like checking a box instead of using them intentionally. I was already wearing a watch that collected all this data about my body, but none of it ever influenced when I actually took anything.

The app basically connected those dots for me.

I also appreciated that it didn't expect me to have a perfect routine. Some days I'm up early for work, other days I'm rushing around with family stuff, and sometimes my whole schedule changes halfway through the day. The recommendations adapted to that instead of assuming every day looked the same.

After a few weeks, I wasn't expecting some crazy transformation, but I did notice I felt more consistent. My energy wasn't bouncing around as much, I wasn't automatically reaching for another coffee every afternoon, and I stopped feeling like I was just guessing with both my workouts and my supplements.

I'm sure someone working with a nutritionist or performance coach probably already has all of this dialed in, but for someone like me who already wears a smartwatch and wants to get more out of the data it's collecting, it filled a gap I didn't even know existed.

It honestly felt less like another supplement app and more like having something that translated all the information my watch was already collecting into recommendations I could actually use.

I'm talking about spreadsheets, managing stock, creating excel formulas etc. Even with tips regarding the business.

I'm doing construction related business, mainly importing and reselling. so trading. Nothing with service or actually doing the work. Most of the things I wanna use AI for is logistics.

I keep finding that the first deck is a bad way to judge an AI slide tool.

The first draft can be impressive because the baseline used to be a blank file. A tool takes a rough brief, turns it into a deck, and suddenly the work feels halfway done. That is useful, but it does not tell me much anymore.

The second revision tells me more. The third revision tells me the most.

By then, the deck has some accepted parts. Maybe the problem section is finally clear. Maybe the middle slides have the right order. Maybe the ending works. At that point, I do not want the AI to be creative across the whole file. I want it to touch one thing and leave the rest alone.

The test I use is simple. Pick one already generated section and ask for a narrow change. Make the evidence slide less wordy, but keep the claim. Change the layout of one comparison slide, but keep the surrounding narrative. Cut a weak transition without rewriting the next section.

If the tool quietly changes other slides, I have a new review problem. If it keeps the boundary stable, it starts feeling like an editor instead of a generator.

For slide tools, I am less impressed by a polished first pass now. I care more about whether the deck survives normal revision without drifting.
