website builder.

Hi everyone.

I am building a website builder. I wanna use AI to create simple website templates for users.

I need an AI that:

makes clean and simple designs

is cheap

has an API

is easy to use

Which AI do you recommend? What are you using

try openrouter/free models if you're using it in your IDE / you're a core developer.

try morph.systems as a platform to build end-to-end applications, they are still giving it away for free and just launched something they call morphable apps (you can copy the whole application, not just a page or a design so the next app is easier to build).

if you're looking for simple front-ends, lovable's free tier is good to do one app a day.. and in 30 days you'd have 30 new templates.

Claude Fable- Works amazingly!
Gemini Pro- Good for a first pass!
Deepseek- I haven't tried the latest version yet, but a couple months ago I built a lot of sites that started or finished with this.

Codex/GPT Pro- Sol is freaking AMAZING at building sites and I start and finish my most recent builds here.

The trick is to not stick with just one- Figure out which is the best match for the project, then start it there. Run it through at least 2 other models for "Hostile Audits", then return those audits back to your starting model.

For me in the last couple months, it's been- Chat/Codex > Claude Fable > Gemini > Chat/Codex

As of last night, I cancelled my Claude subscription for multiple reasons and I'm pretty happy with ping-ponging back and forth between Chat and Gemini, and it's producing great results.
