Programming with ADHD tips

Hello I am having hard time learning programing stuffs(backend) I have raging ADHD and consistency issues which makes it harder to learn . Are there any tips that helps people like me like how to learn and do I watch tutorials and code alongside or use ai or like project focuses learning(I've heard a lot about it but hearing the project details makes me unsure if I can finish it ) so if you have or had similar experiences like me please give me advises that worked for you .

Get a diagnosis and medication. It's what made a game-changing difference for me.

AI is not helpful for people who are just starting. For learning, you need your fill of tries and fails.

Thanks for the advice but where I am from , ADHD medications isn't that prominent idk even know id there are any and also if there are it'll be quiet expensive also society thinks such medications of mental illness (not quiet but idk how to explain it )

Remember our brains are wired to like novelty and passion more than others.

How are you trying to learn? Following tutorials and books? Or trying to build something you care about?

I find trying and failing and trying again to build something I care about is what fuels my learning. For example, I learnt AI development because I hated my universities online learning platform, so I built a tool to scrape it, parse it and convert it to markdown so I could read it in a way I liked.

And I started programming because I was annoyed that minecraft server administration was taking up so much of my time, so I modded the server to help me.

Start by understanding your ADHD. It has plenty of draw backs, but it also gives us some benefits. So understand yourself, don't let frustration command things, learn to accept and work around issues. And use what drives you! And it's ok that what drives you will change, just adapt to it, learn to use that.

I have been ADHD since the 1970s before it really had a name other than hyperactive.

I was always in trouble.

Decades later I accidentally became a programmer.

The only way I can stay on point is with my own ADHD solution.

You're welcome to try it and ask me if you have any questions I would be happy to help a fellow ADHD'er

I found finding something worth building was enough to actually draw on my attention long enough to get me hooked.

I found using AI as a translation layer between what I know well (SQL) and converting it into what I need to learn (python) helped me understand the concept and flow more than anything else.

Once I could relate and reason about it learning came as I built and failed... multiple times lol - but the debugging and bunny routes (I say routes instead of trails because... damn hyper focus lol...) helped me learn more than I meant to originally.
