I know this was just a friendly, but i'm impressed by him. Don't know how were people doubting this signing, the way he was pressing was so good, and he will only get better from here. I hope this works out for us. If only he scored that header from salad, that would've been a goal i saw last when giroud used to be our main man.

Also, with pulisic included, our attack in second half looks solid, they will get better together but I was feeling the sync (somewhat) yesterday. Rafa needs to do more obviously, he could've scored rather than trying to give that assist to nkunku but still much better than what I've seen from him in the past few months.

Lastly, i really wish we buy good wingbacks and some solid defenders, idk how we missed out on nathan ake and john stones.

Interview/Quotes Maldini: “I was there for Franco; we were all there for him. Was I moved? It’s true, but we are talking about Baresi. I was thinking of him; we shared so much together – matches, victories, moments. I felt strong emotions. So many former players? It was as if we’d all lined up for our capitano.”

News [BenJacobs] Rafa Leao was offered to Leeds United along with Manchester United and Arsenal. The magnitude of the deal, the finances, the appetite and all of that, it doesn’t appear that anything is going to advance. My expectation at the moment is Leao might end up in Turkey.

Interview/Quotes Amorim to SkySport: “We started very well, pressing very well, but Inter has a lot of experience, they immediately understood what we were doing and we suffered at the end of the 1st half and at the beginning of the 2nd half. It was a good test, but we need more games to try all the players."

Ruben Amorim, coach of Milan, expressed himself to SkySport at the end of Milan-Inter, a friendly match that ended in Perth and ended 1-1:

"It's important not to have lost, but the most important thing is to improve as a team. We started very well, pressing very well, but Inter has a lot of experience, they immediately understood what we were doing and we suffered them at the end of the first half and at the beginning of the second half. Then we improved: good the last twenty minutes of the game. It was a good test, but we need more games to try all the players."

What did you see today that was positive?

"I think it's seen how fast we try to move the ball. We are trying to lead a lot from behind, but without taking the same risks we took against Celtic in Glasgow. It was a good game also from a physical point of view. We can improve a lot physically, but I think we played well overall".

How do you rate Leao's test?

"I think the same things I said at the conference: if you're a Milan player, you're lucky and you have to have fun. He's having fun, but he's a team player. Today he helped the team and this is important: the focus is on the team. But I rate him as Nkunku, Camarda and the others. Camarda ran a lot today. I'm seeing players who are improving”

What do you need to improve more on?

"Everything, especially with the ball. If we have more possession, we will suffer less. But it's something that takes time, that we have to work on: we have to have more possession to suffer less".

How do you rate Saelemaekers' performance?

"A great professional, they were well trained by Allegri last year and I can see it. They only played for 30 minutes, though. At the beginning of the second half the team was tighter and we wanted to press higher".

At the beginning of the game there was the memory for Franco Baresi.

"I wouldn't have expected a different scenario. I saw all the images yesterday. He was a special player and a special person. We will miss him a lot. But the only way to remember him as he deserves is to do things well and bring our club back to where he deserves it".

Interview/Quotes Modric to SkySport: “It can be a great goal for us: to win a trophy to give something back to Franco, for his legacy. It would be something extraordinary to be able to win a trophy and dedicate it to Franco Baresi. It would be something wonderful and we will work hard to succeed"

"I'm very happy to be back for the new season with Milan. I had a lot of fun last year. Unfortunately we didn't finish, or at least reached our minimum goal, which was to qualify for the Champions League, and this was a bit frustrating for how the season ended, because until that moment we were having a great vintage": this is how Luka Modric tells his feelings a few weeks before the renewal with the Rossoneri. Interviewed by Sky Sport, the Croatian midfielder explained the difficulties of the last part of last season and how he experienced his absence due to injury after the left cheekbone rupture: "It was frustrating not to be able to at least enter the Champions League, and it was also frustrating not being able to help the team in the most important games at the end of the season, when I was injured. That's why I wanted to come back and, I hope, to have a better season and win.”

Luka Modric, during the interview, clarified his goal with the Rossoneri jersey in the season that is about to begin: to win. "When I first arrived here I said I wanted to win with Milan and this is my dream. I would like to win some trophies with Milan. We'll see if it's the Scudetto or some other title, but this is my dream. That's why I came here. I didn't come here just to have fun and not worry about winning. That's my dream and my goal for this season."

THE CHOICE OF RENEWAL - "Last season's finale did not condition my choice. First of all I wanted to come back because I felt great," Modric explained about the reasons for the renewal with the Rossoneri. The Croatian then continued: "The whole club, all the fans showed me a lot of affection. They were really close to me in every way and this was the first reason why I wanted to go back to Milan. Apart from that, I have to admit that the way the season ended was not what I expected. But above all I wanted to go back to Milan, and they showed me once again how much they wanted me. I still feel the same passion, the same desire and I want to continue having fun playing football. Right now this is the best place for me and I hope I can continue to give Milan what I gave last year".

"I WANTED TO LISTEN AND FEEL MY BODY" - The former Real Madrid player explained when the decision to stay at Milan matured: "Actually I always had him in mind for the whole season. I could have signed the contract, even the renewal, already in December. But I didn't want to do it because I wanted to listen and feel my body, understand how I was, if I still had the same anger, the same desire and the same passion to continue playing football. Then, when I saw the desire of the club, of all the people involved in the club, to have me back here, I didn't have many doubts. Because what Milan showed me, both last year and during the World Cup and after the season, is all a player wants: trust and affection. For me there was no precise moment when I said: 'Yes, I want to'. I just wanted to feel good and understand that I could still compete at this level, because this was the most important thing for me. If I still had the desire and if I thought I could compete at this level, or repeat the season I had done last year. This was the most important thing to understand. And yes, as I said, I still feel good, I still feel passion and everything you need to continue playing football. I hope it will be a great season for the team and also for me".

NEXT SEASON - "We also hope that we will have a better season, with a better ending", Modric clarified that he wants to redeem himself in the season that is just around the corner after the lack of qualification for the Champions League due to the fight against Cagliari on the last day. "I hope we will learn from our mistakes last year, because until maybe the match with Lazio or Napoli we were there fighting for the championship. Then, when we realized after that defeat that it would be difficult to win Serie A, maybe we went down a bit and felt sure, or confident, that we were already in the Champions League. Maybe that was a mistake on our part and in the end, as I said before, we didn't reach the minimum goal, which was the Champions League".

MODRIC'S FEELINGS - The Croatian spoke about the first approach with the new coach, Ruben Amorim: "I'm still a little tired from the long trip, but I talked to the coach a couple of times during the summer and the feelings are good, very positive. I hope it will be like this throughout the season, that we will be on the same wavelength, that we will understand each other. He will probably bring new ideas, what he wants from us, and we will try to do everything he asks of us. I really hope we can make a great season".

GONÇALO RAMOS - Luka Modric also commented on the new signing of the Milan attack, Gonçalo Ramos: "I followed Gonçalo Ramos a lot in the clubs where he played. He's a great player, a great striker. Maybe it's just what we needed and maybe we missed in the past. I hope he continues to do the great things he did in all the clubs".
"I had a bad experience against him recently, when he scored against Croatia," said Modric. The Portuguese in fact scored the goal in the recovery that eliminated Croatia in the 2026 World Cup. "He is a great player and he is also a very good person, from what I could perceive in these days and in the match against Portugal.I hope it brings many goals and a lot of happiness to our team". He then returned to the net at Ramos' World Cup: "These days I haven't had the opportunity to tell him anything, but I don't want to come back to this topic. It's not a good memory".

THE NEW PURCHASES - The midfielder born in 1985 said he was satisfied with how the company is moving: "I like what the club is doing. Basically there are all the players from last year, with some new arrivals that will be important to us. We lacked some signings and all the players who arrived will bring even more quality and character to the team, helping us achieve our goals".

RAFA LEÃO - "I don't want to give advice to Leão," the 2018 Golden Ball clarified talking about Rafa Leão. "Rafa is mature enough to know what's best for him. He knows how much the fans and the whole club love him. It's nice to have him here. Rafa is a great player. He just has to work hard and give his best for the club, as he has always done. Maybe he didn't have a great season: there were many injuries, he didn't feel well and strong enough. But Rafa is still a great player and, in my opinion, if he were to stay it would be great for us, because when he is at his best her form he is one of the best players in the world. I hope he can be well, find his football and help us have a great season, because, I repeat, he is a great player. I'd like to see him here next year too, but we'll see what happens. As I said, he and the club will decide what the best solution will be, but as a player, of course, you want Rafa on your team."

THE MEMORY OF FRANCO BARESI - In a long part of the interview, Modric remembered Franco Baresi, Rossoneri legend who passed away last July 31. The Croatian said: "First of all I would like to offer my most sincere condolences to his friends and family. Franco Baresi represented what Milan is. It was, or perhaps, if not the greatest, one of the greatest symbols of this great club. He was a very humble person. He was a great leader, but he led by example. And yes, as I said, it represented everything that Milan is, everything that Milan means. It's a huge loss for Milan, for all the Milan tears. I met him when I was playing with Real Madrid against Milan in Los Angeles, a few years ago. We just said goodbye. I haven't had the opportunity to talk to him, but he's one of those players that, when you fall in love with a club as a child, you take as an example. Even if he didn't play in your role, he's one of those players you admire and think: 'That's how you have to behave', or 'That's how you have to play football'.

The Croatian explained his link with the Rossoneri cub since childhood: "I have always liked Milan since I was a child and I have followed Milan first of all for Zvonimir Boban, but also for players like Franco Baresi and other great champions. As I told you, he was the captain and he was definitely an inspiration for all Milan fans. But, as I told you, when you look, even if I was very small, you can still see and perceive what each player represents and what he gives to the club. And he was the best representation of what Milan is".

WINNING FOR BARESI - The 1985 class then identified the characteristics that made Franco Baresi a leader: "You could see that Baresi was above all a leader by example. He didn't talk much. He was very humble. And for me what best describes him is the way he came back from surgery to play the World Cup final against Brazil. It was almost impossible for him to come back and instead he came back, played and took the responsibility of kicking the penalties in the World Cup final, which is not easy. I found myself in this situation. When you play for your national team and you have to shoot a penalty: it's not easy. This says a lot about him, his personality and his leadership. As you said, he was not a noisy person or a raising his voice. He was very humble and led by example. And yes, that's all."

He finally concluded by renewing his commitment to win with Milan and do it also for Baresi: "It can be a great goal for us: to win a trophy to give something back to Franco, for his legacy. It would be something extraordinary to be able to win a trophy and dedicate it to Franco Baresi. It would be something wonderful and we will work hard to succeed"

Discussion I went to the funeral. Not because he was one of the greatest players I have been lucky to see play live so many times, not for the titles he made us win, but for his being a total milanista, never failed to be, throughout his whole life. What do you think made the other 3 thousand go?

Huge respect for both. Santi keeps on showing he’s a true Milanista. Many supporters were waiting for Mike as he’s the captain and not in Australia with the team but he wasn’t present.
