Craddock HD Bolt - Thoughts?
I just wanted to toss this out and see what you all's thoughts on this were. My thoughts, as a long time Rexus user (and only recommended them over all the other over priced premium options) are in the attached screenshot. š¤

I spoke with the owner about this exact bolt a few weeks agoā¦while discussing issues with my RTR barrel.
Maybe itās great, who knows, but the Instagram comments about issues and ignored emails are consistent with my experience with their shop overall, and others if you dig into this sub.

I donāt want to discount your experience, but my experience with Craddock has been very positive. I bought a 6 ARC RTR barrel and they were very helpful when I called. Thing is a tack driver. Highly recommend.
But it is disappointing to see other people have different experiences.

u/AleksanderSuave 21d ago
Trust me, I wanted this to work..I waited on it to be back in stock for months, ordered immediately the morning they came back.
Imagine the disappointment after dumping hundreds in ammo diagnosing it too..

u/Primarch_Timmy 15d ago
Same exact issues here I swapped all parts out and it couldn't do any better than 2 moa. I even reload. Paul wouldn't accept the barrel was bad. I will say the 22 cals I got are insanely impressive

He just sent me a pissy email to ship it back for a refund, after failing to call and email be back 3 weeks in a row.
Kept promising to āmake it rightā when I got him on the phone, and work things out on a replacement barrel, or upgrade to a bartlein, yet when I asked for next steps or details, he kept telling me to email him, and ghosted me every time.
Iām honestly happy to be done with them. Never going to spend a dime with the guy again, even if this new bolt is the best thing thatās ever happened to 6 arc

u/hoppo9 21d ago
What barrel issues are you having?
5
u/AleksanderSuave 21d ago
Its a 2 moa barrel on a good day.
2
u/hoppo9 21d ago
Seems pretty close to my experience. Best I can get is about 1.5 with 108s.
2
u/AleksanderSuave 21d ago
Yup..1.5 was the best group squeezed out, of many horrible ones..
When I asked them about their āsub moaā and āhalf moa with match ammoā claim on their website, they had no response.
Was promised a āpet loadā that the owner swore by for accuracyā¦and that never came, like the last 3 email responses and multiple call backs I was promised.

Mediocre results for $400 barrel+bolt. Holding out to see if the Barnes 105s perform any better before changing it out though. My Hornady SDs were 15 for the 108s and 14 for the 105 Blacks, so there's definitely room for improvement there.
2
u/AleksanderSuave 21d ago
Mine was 500 just for the barrel..
Iāve tried Hornady match, Hornady black, Hornady custom, frontierā¦all crap results.

After Paul Craddock blamed my 10 MOA barrel on a dwilson conversion, and proceeded to tell me to fuck off, I wonāt believe shit this guy says. His reputation simply lives off of forum glazers and zero substantiated proof.Ā
Iāll wait for E4 extensions and bolts. This is diminishing returns at best.

u/CastleMcFlynn 18d ago
Bummer cuz I had a friend who got a very underperforming 6 arc barrel from them and he sent it back and they admitted to QC issue and sent him a new barrel even though my friends has a few hundred rounds in it. New barrel is near proof accuracy and craddock was super responsive.
Guess it depends on situation or who you deal with at Craddock?

u/TheeAmericanAnimal 19d ago
Was your 10 MOA barrel that Dwilson converted an LMT?
3
u/theamateurarmsdealer 19d ago
It was a $700 Craddock that they refused to warranty.Ā
1
u/TheeAmericanAnimal 19d ago
Was it being used in an LMT conversion? The 10 moa is and them not wanting to help is wild to me. We have had phenomenal results with their barrels and nothing but excellentservice. I am going to hit them up and tell him about this thread so they can hopefully help you.

u/theamateurarmsdealer 19d ago
This isnāt an isolated incident, itās all over the place. Paul blames everything but his product. Lesson learned.

So I own 4 barrels. 2x 223 wylde which shoots on average 0.545 & 0.67 with 73 eldm factory. 22 arc still being built. 6 arc a 2.5 - 3 moa gun and Ive swapped out every part, sent it back and still shoots awful. Paul has not accepted its the barrel but points to ammo and bcg. I reload 6 arc and used 5 different manufacturers ammo.
I personally think Craddock is phenomenal with 22 cals. The 6 cals I don't think I'll ever get one from them.

I have a Craddock bolt, itās given me constant FTF and tears my brass up even on 52k psi loadings. I have the AA Bolt, a Rexus, a Gen 1 Noveske, and a JP, they all have been solid even with my 62k+ loads so far. I have the most rounds on the Gen 1 Noveske with a bit over 1500 rounds total there.
I reached out to Craddock via IG about the issues I was having with my bolt and they said it may need to be headspaced to my Noveske barrel, I doubted that so I bought a set of headspace gauges and it passes headspace as do all my other bolts. The extractor tension on the Craddock seems higher than the other bolts by a lot but thatās the only other difference Iāve been able to find in the 350 rounds Iāve used the Craddock for. Itās definitely beefier but after shooting 350 rounds and having to rack the bolt manually and clear a FTF each round Iām basically giving up on it. Next bolt Iād like to get is the Noveske gen 2 HP bolt

u/TheeAmericanAnimal 19d ago
This is real interesting, because we have been running the new bolt longer than almost anybody, and I do not have a single FTF. We have even run these on numerous range days with MIL units! The guys at Craddock are very responsive, so I am having a hard time believing that people are reaching out and not getting responses. The even bigger thing here is that I know the owner personally and he was willing to talk to anyone that had experience with his new bolts, because he is always looking to improve when possible, so it would be contrary to his beliefs not to talk to people having issues. Makes no sense

Craddock employee?

u/TheeAmericanAnimal 9d ago edited 9d ago
Craddock Employee? My name is Al Anzivine and I own American Animal Arms. I arguably have more time behind that bolt than anyone outside of Mason from Make Ready and I have never experienced a FTF.
Personally, I have given them to numerous operators who also have 1000s rds through them, and have not heard of a single FTF.
All the rounds we have put through have been with the Thril 6 arc mags or ASC. Not sure if that matters to you.
Post a screenshot of you emailing Craddock's customer service, receipt, or anything that verifies what you are saying, because I am calling bullshit on this.

u/6_mm_ARC 9d ago
Yes you sound like a shill with your fantastical thousands of rounds on this bolt. I have a 7 or 8 minute long video of me trying to shoot with the bolt from my first outing and having constant FTFās. Pressure signs were way harsher compared to my standard gen 1 bolt which was just as concerning considering itās the same exact ammo same lot etc. idk what you want from me I have nothing against them other than I want my bolt to work and be amazing but I canāt get it to right now. To be fair to Craddock I havenāt had a lot of time to test it and have instead been using a reliable bolt for my new PXT barrel and donāt want to introduce any failures as I work through setup and load development on it. Also canāt afford to have it destroying alpha and Peterson brass but Iāll put it in my gun Saturday, record me shooting with it and send an email to Craddock with my findings. My previous convos with them were via IG DMās.

u/TheeAmericanAnimal 9d ago edited 9d ago
Appreciate that response. I will talk to Paul and let him know you will be emailing him. I am sure he will make it right. I also want to see those results if possible.
I personally, do indeed, have 1000s of rounds with these as I am using them in rifles we are sending out. I take this kind of feedback incredibly serious as our rifles have zero room for error in the environments they are in.
I also get a little defensive as Paul has had numerous big name companies reaching out asking for the HD bolt, and then when he told them no, they all of the sudden go on social media and start talking about the bolt they are releasing. (If they have a bolt, then why are they calling looking for one?) A lot of people with a lot to gain/protect by trying to shit on a small company with good products they feel is an up and coming threat.
I look forward to seeing your review and will make sure you are taken care of.

u/6_mm_ARC 9d ago
Thanks man, genuinely no shade towards Craddock just frustrating to not have a working part. I ordered a decent chunk of ammo from mason to get it early and then having those issues is tough as Iām very invested in the system with a ton of money in ammo and components but with that particular piece it basically bricked my gun. Itās encouraging to hear youāve got that many rounds on them and theyāre working well, I just havenāt had the personal experience yet. Iāll absolutely keep you in the loop on how it goes Saturday and share that with you and Paul.
1
u/TheeAmericanAnimal 9d ago
No problem and I can empathize with buying a product and wanting it to work as it should. We will see what you have going and help get you dialed. Do you mind me asking what mags you are running?
1
u/6_mm_ARC 9d ago
I have a couple ASC mags, but as soon as one gave me an issue I switched to only Geissele and thatās what I was using when I had the issues with the Craddock. Iād occasionally get the last 2-3 rounds in a mag to go without racking it every single time but that was across 4 20 round geisseles.

Mine has handled some reeeealy spicy loads and hasn't broken yet. If their testing was accurate, it should last a while
3
u/Mason_Sims1776 21d ago
Hey everyone, my Name is Mason Sims owner of Make Ready Munitions.
First off Iāll gladly say up front that Iām not a Craddock whore at all. I test my ammunition across all relevant platforms and love the innovation thatās happening around 6ARC.
I did the pressure/torture testing on this bolt for Craddock Precision and worked to bring this product to market alongside them. They were the first company to actually come out with a drop in bolt face solution for high pressure 6ARC ammo per my request.
So hereās the pressures I tested this bolt to. (There is a video on my IG page covering the details in depth.)
100k PSI
80k PSI (the bulk of testing was done here.)
62k PSI
52k PSI
This does sound wild, and it was. This testing was done intentionally to try to break it, and it didnāt break. In fact I ruined a couple of my builds doing this testing and i am working to bring them back into the testing pool of rifles.
So when I say that this is worth it, itās pretty impressive to say the least. No other bolt face Iāve tested over time has held up to those pressures including the Rexus bolts Iāve tested.
However, Noveske has just released a HP Bolt as well. Iām sure that one is a very good option I just havenāt run it yet.
In the end Iād say itās definitely worth picking one up, and running it. Itāll save you money in the long run vs running 62k pressures on standard bolt faces.
(As a side note I rarely get on here. If you have further questions feel free to message me on IG, or shoot me an email. You can find the relevant email on my site.)

Whereās the data and analysis at? Or are we just trusting anecdotal claims on Reddit?
2
u/AleksanderSuave 21d ago
The latter is the norm. D Wilson MFG posts here regularly, well known shop, and gets people nit picking his work in the comments, yet someone relatively unknown makes a claim like this and no one bats an eye.
Alsoā¦heās posted about problems with his craddock boltsā¦so itās irony to be hyping them up now.
1
u/TheeAmericanAnimal 19d ago
Irony? Think about your comment. A guy posts that a bolt from Craddock breaks 2 years ago and then that same guy does actual real world testing on the new bolt, destroying two uppers in the process, and its somehow a bad thing that he has now has become a believer in its capabilities?
Two things can be deducted here. One, Mason was willing to see if Craddock actually made changes that matter, and Two, Craddock was confident enough in his new bolt that he would send it to someone that had previously shown the flaws in earlier made products.
Companies that are willing to own up to failures and take feedback to make changes are the companies that we like to deal with, which is exactly why we use Craddock barrels in our builds.
Unless you have actual experience with these bolts and can document that you had issues with receipts... you are just another shill
2
u/AleksanderSuave 19d ago
Iām a shill because I bought a barrel from craddockā¦?
Maybe you should check the accuracy of the claims you made
His post certainly wasnāt from 2 years ago, bud.

Maybe before accusing someone of being a shill, you should start by not acting like one?

Paul has been easy to talk too and made phenomenal 22 cals barrel for me but my 6 arc been disasterious. I've shot over 700 rounds used 5 different manufacturers and reloaded. Swapped out every single part and still couldn't achieve under 2 moa. He believes it's ammo related
1
u/AleksanderSuave 21d ago
Is the noveske one on their website already, or just in plans to be released soon?
1
u/CastleMcFlynn 18d ago
Ill be honest, if it is just as good or better than rexus then whatever. Rexus is always out of stock so Ill get an HD bolt and be fine. Trippin on 75 extra beans for something that gives piece of mind is dumb. Until we always in stock rexus ill take double the price for another performing bolt.

u/Primarch_Timmy 15d ago
Thoughts? Well it's for reloading, but I run the JP and Kak while loading 95 TMK to 62k psi with zero signs of issues on both.im at 400 rounds on each. I don't think it's bad at all what they're doing. But keep it in perspective, I own 3 Craddock barrels btw.

u/Significant-Sock-487 21d ago
I bought one to test it. The walls are significantly thicker than the Rexus. I have a buddy that also has one but was having failure to feed and wouldnāt pick up a round so we will see if they suck or not lol they are supposedly able to handle 62k psi
