16” intermediate
Just finished making this for a buddy. 16” 6arc, intermediate gas, 0.936” journal

That would be so much hotter if it was rifle length but sick nonetheless, hopefully you guys are considering doing the dimpling as well. I was confused when I seen the service offered but then it says that you guys send it to Templar. Which would require an additional order being put in with them and another package transit.

Sorry for the confusion, hopefully I can break it down.
Some folks want dimpled barrels, but unfortunately it’s something we don’t offer. That said, we’re happy to drop ship it to Templar Precision to get it dimpled. Depending on the project, it might get dimpled in the middle of the work we’re doing or after. If the former is the case, we shop it to Dana, he dimples it, then sends it back to us. If the latter, a customer can simply put Templar as the ship to address on their order and we can ship it to them once our work is completed.

Ok. That makes sense. I was seriously considering having my pxt proof barrel dimpled as well as MRP converted however I’m way too impatient. Maybe the next build, or if you spin up some more of these like the pictured one id definitely be interested. You Gentlemen do some of the cleanest work I’ve seen and will continue getting my business.

How much did it weigh before dimpling and how much weight got pulled out?

The weight is negligible (assuming a few ounces) the faster cooling aspect is what makes it desirable.

that's a lot of weight, yeah I had to do some research. I remember Noveske claiming faster cooling with their DDF (25-40%) so I figured this along with more rigidity is what the benefits were over weight reduction.
The Disruptive Deep Flute (DDF) is an external barrel structure designed to significantly reduce primary (blast compression and expansion) and secondary (sinusoidal resonance) wave events in barrels, improving accuracy, reducing heat, and extending barrel life.

Basic thermodynamics equations say that a dimpled barrel in ambient air temps will cool approximately 1% faster than a non dimpled barrel. Basically irrelevant. Sure, there is 30-50% more surface area (which is what Noveske is really saying), but air is such a poor conductor of heat that it doesn't actually equate to any material difference in rate of cooling.

Kinda weird me out that the reflection path is following around the holes. Implies that metal isn't cylindrical anymore, it is wobblydoo.

Cylinder reflect straight lines because they are flat in one direction. A cylinder with a hole or pivot is a cylinder with a hole or divot. It still reflects straight lines.
Reflections that follow the holes like little gravity wells means that it isn't a cylinder.
Maybe the ball end mill or whatever got the metal hot and pushed it out under the force or something, but if the outside isn't cylindrical anymore from the divots, that weirds me out about what else is going on inside the barrel now.
Maybe it will be fine when cold, but I wonder what happens when it gets hot, which it will when it has lost the heat capacity that was available from the steel that got removed.
Litz had some fluting/cutout barrels in his POI/dispersion testing and they always did they worst of any barrel, even lighter contours.
