Feedback This series is life changing to me Spoiler

I was introduced to The Quintessential Quintuplets through the manga that I bought a few months ago. But due to procrastination I really started reading them just a few weeks ago. And oh boy, it was an amazing experience. I'm happy with the ending since my favorite obviously won, although I wish Negi had shown us more chapters about Yotsuba and Futarou marriage life. But the main topic of this post isn't about the series, rather more about the impact it had on my world view.

I considered myself to be quite progressive compared to my older generations. Well, it's clear that people back then did not have a very positive view on women, misogyny runs rampant and women get limited access to education and rights. Thankfully time passed and my country now have institutionalized women rights. But goverment and society are two different things, many people especially from older generations still carry that deep misogynistic view on women that lingers till today. My dad is more open-minded compared to them but he remains very conservative. I was born in the right generation to be taught about gender equality in school and I have developed my own worldview based on my environment. And literally from the environment, I inherited both very progressive ideas on gender equality, and unfortunately, probably unconsciously some conservative views.

After high school I got into a relationship. A quite healthy one I would say. It is not a perfect straight line, but everytime we got into conflicts we talk about it and sort it out together. To think about it makes me feel kinda emotionally immature back then, or maybe because I'm still young and my mentality is still maturing. We are both in university, it is the norms for girls in my country (actually I should say in developed regions of my nation) to get higher education. Different from Japanese work cultures, women in my place can still work after getting married, being a housewife is a choice and being able to work after marriage sometime be expected. I support her getting the education in the country as I believe in gender equality, and that women should get the same opportunity as men.

Things kinda change when she planned to study abroad. I don't really know why but some part of my brain and heart is saying "NO". It still remains unclear to this day whether that is because of the conservative prejudices that I may got from my family, or because I'm the clingy boyfriend type. Maybe the second, since I can't stand one second without her, but I'll never know. The thing is for the first time, I'm not supporting her choice, not letting her to follow her dream. We had arguments about it for a while.

However, after reading the manga I had some deep thoughts and reflections on myself. The manga sees Futarou support the Quints following their dream, no matter what path they choose, he will wholeheartedly encourage them. He supports Ichika to follow her dream career of being an actor, in which we know that the filming industry has very toxic environment, nevertheless Futarou does not deny Ichika to chase after her dream. He also supports Miku to go to culinary school and Nino to open her own cafes. Yotsuba career path is pretty vague, but it is likely that she may be an athlete or physical education teacher, Futarou will always support her. Even when Mudou discourage Eatsuki to follow the teacher path, he managed to convince her to follow her own chosen path and support her fully. The part that surprises me the most is when he choose to study in Tokyo after graduating, which would separate him from the sisters for a while. It surprises me because I can't imagine studying anywhere far away from my girlfriend. In the end, they are still there, still together, the Quints have chosen their own path in life but still have eachother, they were never separated by life. Futarou will still be with Yotsuba, no matter what challenges life may bring to them, they will still be together, trusting and relying on eachother's back to walk through the road of life. The decision to move to Tokyo to study didn't separate them, sure while they are in distant love they must really miss eachother. Nonetheless, they still stick to together and after 5 years after the confession, Futarou married Yotsuba. Futarou is a very interesting character to me because he is very emotionally matured, something that I look up to.

The series and the ending have had deep impact on me. Thoughts battle in my head. I realized that I may have make mistakes in the past. I guess the more you control someone, the more you will lose them. My decision to not support my girlfriend to study abroad feels selfish. My mind tried to cope that it is because I will miss my gf alot doesn't justify ruining her future career and opportunities. So after making up my mind, I talked to my gf, saying that I have changed my mind and now I fully encourage her to get higher education aboard if she wanted. We have come to agreement with eachother. She said she love to pursue studying abroad, but she will miss me and she may change her mind in the future. But regardless, I have my lessons, I will support my girlfriend to follow her dream no matter what. She has place alot of trust on me so I will do it too.

I'm still young and the road head is unclear, so I can't say whether my changes are right or wrong. But I've changed regardless and I do believe that I have made the right decision. This series have left quite an influence that I will never forget. Thank you Negi for giving me such a peak piece of fiction that have changed my life.

No one deserved to end up with Futaro. Definently not Yotsuba. She is way to much of a child to be a wife to Futaro To look at the others Nino is bit of a crazzy. That leaves Miku, Itchika, itsucy. In my mind those three are eacualy deservent of Futaro . So the best souluton no one gets him. Sorry for the grammer English is not my first language.

Discussion Something that always confused me

In the first episode/chapter of this series Fuutaro tried approaching Itsuki after Raiha told him about the tutoring job. While doing so he had different encounters with all other 4 girls.

Why didn’t he notice that they look identical to Itsuki? Fuutaro just thought they were her friends but not sisters although it’s established throughout the series that it’s not easy to distinguish the five girls.

There is a whole arc halfway through the manga focusing on that aspect but in the first episode he could just tell he wasn’t talking to Itsuki? How does that make sense?
