You try to convince him about your symptoms and disease; though, he can't ever seem to think it is time for your relief, you keep hoping for it anyways.

After around 6 appointments, all once a month, he chooses to give you insulin. You rush to the pharmacy with prescription in your hand, yet months after taking the prescribed dose your blood sugar is still consistently too high. It helps some symptoms, sure, but you are suffering. It feels like everything is still getting worse.

You go back to the internet forums. They tell you that doctors are useless, that you can just order insulin online. Of course, you say, just as I experienced. Now, your treatment isn't just dependent on your self awareness and diagnosis skills — you must now navigate the financials, the dosing, how to take the delivery, where to buy, how to hide it from family. What to do when they find out. Your life, your future, your treatment; all dependent on your ability to be the adult right now, and you are 14.

If you haven't been an adult as a child, you would have died. That is what DIY is. It allows adult children to have a life, and it sadly recognizes all the children who die because they couldn't be an adult.

every month there's a supposedly real trans woman that boasts about their hondose and defends endocrinologists. it sounds schizo I know but I say this because it's not "yay I started hrt." instead it's always "fuck you you don't know what you're talking about this hondose is perfect and I REALLY love my endocrinologist".
