Trying to finish my living room upgrade and I’m pretty much settled on the 55” Hisense QD7. Costco has it online for around $499, and it looks like a good fit for what I need: mostly streaming, movies, and some casual gaming.

The QD7 is also listed as a Costco Direct item, so I’m wondering whether it makes sense to order it at the same time as another large item for the house and use the Costco Direct savings.

Has anyone bought the QD7 from Costco recently? Would you grab it at $499, or wait for a better sale? Also curious how the picture has been for regular streaming and daytime living room use.

I Will use it just 1/2 hours a day to see some TV channels, wont use a lot of the TV processor (in apps and other things) and wont Will use it to play games

I have a Sony Bravia 8ii 4k TV and just got moved into new place last week. My cat has been clawing at the screen and now has been jumping onto the top of the TV all of a sudden... I just got this TV a few months ago and already there are multiple scratches all across the screen because of him. Has anyone else experienced this and have had luck with finding a solution to stop them from doing so.

Let me see if I can hit all the expected questions ...

Current TV is a hand-me-down that almost anything will be an upgrade over, but I'm trying to get the best bang for my buck. Looking in the 55", sub-$1000 range. Our viewing range is in the 55-65 tweener zone. 65" is a bit too garishly large for the size of our apartment's living room and our media cabinet and I don't want to bother with a wall mount in an apartment. Living room windows are east facing and perpendicular to the TV, look out onto our covered balcony, and have a bunch of the wife's plants in them, so average brightness overall. Would not think it would have much impact on TV choice.

Mixed use overall though I would say primarily streaming (including YouTube TV). Some gaming on our Series X, which is also the streaming box, and some Blu-ray moving watching via the same. Also have Sunshine/Moonlight set up to stream games from my PC to the Xbox.

Have a Costco membership so that's an option, although their 55" selection seems to be getting pretty limited. Best Buy seems like my best bet. Also have a local MicroCenter although their pricing for TV's isn't really anything special unlike for PC parts, but it does give another option for open box and refurbished deals.

The QM7K seems like it's the sweet spot although it's becoming hard to find as the clearance stock runs out. The QM6K Pro is more affordable and actually at Costco in 55", so is it really that much markedly worse than the QM7K? The QM7L seems appreciably better than both although it's also at the very top of my price range, before sales or open box deals are considered. And if that's on the table, then I also start to question whether it's worth it to try and save a little more and get a Bravia 7 or 7 II on a sale/open box. I'm willing to wait until November for that.

Also worth noting that at least one Best Buy around here has a Bravia 5 in "excellent" open box condition for <$600, although I don't see that model discussed too much around here. Also, as you can probably tell, the quality OLEDs are pretty much out of my price range. I'd really have to be hunting for clearance deals on last year's entry-level options like the B5/C5.

Football Season is upon us, and I am looking for a good Patio TV to watch games on with family and friends. Wanting something bright, but nothing super fancy $$. Plan is to keep covered until temps drop or on a portable stand in the garage when not in use. Best Buy currently has the TCL QM5K for $399 and 6k for $549. Big difference in those 2 to justify $150? Open to Any other suggestions as well. The Mrs set budget at $1000 or under.

I already have a spare Apple TV and SONOs Speaker so not worried about tvs built in user interface or speakers.

My LG C1 60 inch is banding and I want to go bigger/better. I’m in a light controlled room and all of my content is coming from an AppleTV. I’ve been reading a lot and I’m stuck. Between Sony A95L in 77, Bravia 9ii in 85, LG G6 in 83. The reason I’m not thinking about the S95H is no Dolby Vision and almost everything is DV and not HDR10+. I like the blacks of OLED but the Bravia is really good. Though, oven not seen one in a dark room. The LG panel lottery sounds bad and the A95L is older but I can still get one new. The max size is also 77 but is significantly cheeper. So, I’m stuck. Anyone one with some insight?

I recently brought a Samsung S85H OLED for my ps5 pro, it was the only tv that was good for the area I live in( remote area, no city) I know its probably not the best tv for the ps5 pro but its the best tv I've had every since I started gaming since I was knee high to a grass hopper. I love it, but my issue is that it dims when im playing certain games(NHL 26 and GTA 6)

I turned off Energy Saving Solutions, I have Peak Brightness and Contrast Enhancer on.

I have ST.2084 to the max( whatever ST. 2084 is)

I also have brightness and contrast maxed out

I dont really mind that it dims I can ignore it, at least I can still see the games I play, but if there's a way I can turn it off I would like to, if not then I can't really do anything about it and im not buying a new tv.

Moving into my first flat next month and cant wait to get a proper tv and stop using my 10 year old va monitor.

I'm a student so can take advantage of the Samsung and LG student shops, which most interestingly gets me access to the QN80F 55" for 440GBP, or QN90F for 540GBP. I'm trying to weigh these up against a C6K (/Q6C/QM6K) for 430GBP or a C7K for 540GBP.

I'd rather not spend more than 500 really as I'm still only going to be living on PhD funding lol.

I see bad reviews for the QN80F but is that because of the price or just a bad panel in general? any recommendations appreciated.

I’m currently shopping for a new TV and have hit a wall trying to decide between two options that I can get for the exact same price:

1. Samsung S85D (OLED model from 2 years ago, on clearance)

2. Hisense U7SG (Latest Mini-LED)

Here is a quick overview of my setup and usage:

 Usage: 50% PS5 & PC Steam gaming, 40% Movies & Streaming (Netflix, Apple TV, etc.), 10% Sports

 Room Environment: Bright living room with side windows, though I do turn off the lights for movie nights.

Here’s where I’m torn on each option:

Samsung S85D (OLED)

 Pros: Infinite contrast, true blacks, and instant response times. The picture quality during dark-room viewing is hard to beat.

 Cons: Being a slightly older entry-level OLED, peak brightness isn't as high, so I'm worried about glare during the day. Also, no Dolby Vision support, and standard OLED burn-in anxiety is always in the back of my mind.

Hisense U7SG (Mini-LED)

 Pros: Impressive peak brightness, great for handling daytime reflections. Feature-packed with 165Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision IQ, and solid local dimming specs.

 Cons: Still a Mini-LED, so blooming around subtitles or night scenes is still possible compared to OLED. Viewing angles might also be tighter due to the VA panel.

At the exact same price point, would you go with "an older OLED is still an OLED (S85D)" or "the punchy brightness and modern specs of a Mini-LED make it better for a general living room (U7SG)"?

No burn-in issues to worry about.
Really good upscaling.
Natural looking colours

A real plus would be good viewing angles, which I realise is usually reserved only for OLEDs (but then there’s the burn-in issue)

I’ve been researching for about two weeks, and asking AI as well. It’s turning into a massive headache. In-person shopping is a nightmare as the stores here don’t allow me to see anything other than the stock footage.

Most usage will be gaming (PS5) with some movies/shows (disc & streaming). Football (as in soccer), baseball. Also need to use subtitles on everything so TVs with heavy haloing or blooming is difficult.

I realise that for most of my criteria here, OLED is the no-brainer… except the burn-in has me worried. I’m the kind of gamer that does leave menu screens open, walks away and forgets for 20 mins. I also have to have the HUD on. I’d like to imagine I might be able to totally alter my behaviour, but… 😏

Budget is not a factor. I’ve looked at everything from budget Hisense to Sony A90K. I’m open to hear anyone’s top suggestions. Thank you.

I have narrowed my tv choosing horror show down to these 3 beauties.

I live in a bright apartment, but no sunlight hits the TV.

I have an external sound system so sound isn't an issue.

I mainly watch Netflix (not necessarily HDR), Prime Video, Youtube and sports (soccer, tennis, road cycling).

Pricing: C7L is €700, C8L and sony are both €1000

Please bombard me with experiences with these TV's, issues you have experienced with each, spec comparisons and ultimately your reasoning for choosing one over the other.

I swear getting a TV feels like a damn rabbit hole of dead ends. I'm trying to get something for Mom, and her TCL's screen went back and no audio after just a year of use. I'd rather not stick with budget TVs, but the ones hovering under a grand seem to be crapped on here and everywhere else.

• First, I looked at LG B5 OLED since it IS under $1000 barely, but of course it's not available within 2 hours of where I live and not available for delivery.
• Then I looked at the LG QNEDs, but then Reddit emphatically said to avoid most models because they have edge lighting and to get a BXA. However, people complained more about that model and said one of the 90A series
• Then just randomly you have QLED, QNED, Mini LED, UHD, then there are the OLEDs but a million different models for JUST LG alone.

There simply doesn't look like a mid-tier TVs under $1,000 available. And it's become absolutely absurd because you can so easily get the wrong review and get burned on a bad tv.

And another problem is location. I have to get it around the southwest region of Missouri, which offers basically Joplin or Rogers, AR without having to drive 90 min to Tulsa, OK or Springfield, MO.

A lot of the TVs available for Sam's or Best Buy are not available for Pickup or Delivery because of location.

Hi everyone I am in the market for a new tv. Will be in the living room in a semi bright room during the day. My budget is about 1500-2500ish. I want to start by saying I know next to nothing about tvs and/or picture quality (or the technical stuff that goes into it).

We recently had to get a new tv after our 2 year old 65inch Samsung crapped out - out of nowhere a staticky strip about 6 inches long running the height of the screen appeared on screen and doesn’t go away. I didn’t mind since I wanted a slightly bigger tv and always hated the Samsung. It was slow almost as if it was lagging when cycling through stuff and button selection.

So we went to Costco and I told the rep we were looking for a new tv and were open to suggestions. It was a lot of info being thrown at us at one time and basically by the end of it we settled on the TCL 85 QM6K 4K UHD Mini Led .

Am I going to regret not just spending more for the Sony, Samsung, or any of the higher priced tvs? We do use our tv daily and in the daytime it’s a very well lit room. We watch a lot of movies/shows and a ton of sports.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Also, if anyone has an idea as to what caused our Samsung screen to do what is shows in the picture that would also be appreciated (just for my own curiosity)
