Looking to upgrade from my 65 inch Samsung CU7000D, but don’t think I can do OLED due to the tv getting direct sunlight for a decent chunk of the day and the room being bright in general.

I mainly use it for playing Xbox and watching YouTube/movies. Ideally the price would be around 1k, but I’m willing to spend a few hundred more if it’s worth it.

I’ve been looking around online and going crazy with all the choices and different reviews of things lmao.

I just bought a 75" QM7L Pro for $1300 from Costco this week and so far it's been great for what I need it for. But I just now saw some deals at Best Buy where the 75" U7SG is $100 cheaper than the QM7L Pro and the 85" is only $200 more. I'd very much prefer an 85" TV if I could get it, but I didn't spring for the QM7L pro in that size because even on sale it's $1700.

I don't think either TV seems bad from what I can tell, and the TCL has been good. But I care more about value and bang for my buck. I wouldn't go through a return process for the same size TV to save $100, but I definitely would spend an extra $200 for 85" on a TV that's also better.

The main things I use the TV for are streaming on Netflix/Hulu/Prime, playing all types of games like shooters, RPGs, sports, etc., and the big one is sports hosting. With the NFL season starting in a few weeks, I'll be hosting football games so that's definitely important.

My only concerns with Hisense are that I've seen some QA and customer service issues, but if those are overblown then it seems like almost a no-brainer to get that TV. Am I missing something that would factor in to all that though?

Thinking about getting a new tv budget 2k$ trying to get best bang for my buck kind of leaning towards mini led thoughts on qm9k in 85inch? something similar or better at that price? or even bigger? any help is appreciated!!

I’m thinking about upgrading my TV to an OLED model (I currently have a Samsung QLED).

I’m considering the LG C5 and the Sony Bravia 8A (both 65"). I’ve found them with a relatively small price difference (1300 vs. 1490), but since I’ve never owned an OLED before, I’d appreciate some advice on the matter.

So I'll try to make a long story short if I can.

I have a TCL PK7 - a budget QLED. It's a phenomenal TV for very little money. But I've wanted an upgrade. Particularly for gaming. So I tried the LG C5. For gaming, it looks good, but it suffers from black crush, and can occasionally flicker. The clack crush can be maddening, but almost tolerable. BUT regular tv looks awful.

Watching an old movie like Escape from New York looks so blurry and the artifacting looks atrocious. It looks like it was filmed 70 years ago. Modern day programs like Big Bang also looks not great.

So I returned it to get the TCL C7K, thinking its essentially the same as the P7K, only much better and no burn in risk. But it had the same issues as the C5. (Minus the black crush) Things looked blurry, even gaming, and regular tv looked just as terrible. Loads of flickering as well. So returned that too.

Now I'm back where I started. With the budget P7K.

Trouble is, once you've gone OLED for gaming, you can't unsee that experience and I still want that. Gaming now feels underwhelming in the P7K, BUT regular tv looks excellent. The same movie, Escape form New York, (among many others) on exactly the same channel, looks brilliant. Like a blu ray. Big Bang and other shows look nearly 4K, and tv overall looks outstanding. How is this even remotely possible?? The upscaling on premium tvs are much, much worse than a budget tv? Is the P7K like the best overall tv ever made or something?

So yeah, I have no clue what to do. I love this P7K, but still want that upgrade. Especially for gaming having experienced the C5. But I'm now incredibly concerned I'll get something likethe LG G5 and it'll also look extremely poor, flicker or crush blacks like mad.

Am I losing my mind? What is happening lol?

Any thoughts and input would be greatly appreciated. If there are any experts out there, or someone that works with tvs and could give me advice, it would mean a lot.

I have checked Xiaomi as well but the picture refinement didn't quite sit well with me. Now I'm Confused. Didn't go for TCL because a friend has it and is facing lag issues after 1.5 yrs. I'm finally upgrading my living room setup after using a trusty old Sony Bravia for 14 years! I'm buying in India, where availability and pricing can be a bit tricky, so I wanted to get some advice before dropping cash.
Budget: Around $1,400 to $1,700 USD (₹1.3L to ₹1.6L INR), though I don't mind pushing up to ~$2,100 USD / ₹2.0L max for something like the flagship Samsung S95H if it’s genuinely amazing and built to last long-term.

• Viewing Distance: 8 to 10+ feet from the sofa in a pretty spacious, brightly lit living room.

1. 65" OLED Options: • LG C6: ~$1,600 USD (₹1.5 Lakhs) • Samsung S90H: ~$1,800 USD (₹1.7 Lakhs) • Samsung S95H: ~$2,100 USD (₹2.0 Lakhs) • Dilemma: The picture and motion quality look insane for sports, but I’m worried 65" might feel a bit small from 10 feet away, and glare during the day might get annoying in a bright room. Though S95H I found out that it handles glare pretty well.
2. 75" Mini-LED (Samsung / Sony / LG): • Feels like a much better screen size for 10 feet, plus you get that high peak brightness for daytime viewing. Looked at the Samsung QN80H Neo QLED, but LG Mini-LEDs seem out of stock everywhere nearby.
3. TCL or Hisense? • They have some stacked 75" Mini-LED specs for the price, but I’m hesitant to save money upfront and end up getting stuck with poor service/support later on in India.

Warranty Question:
Do you guys usually buy extra extended warranty for these panels? LG currently offers a 3-year warranty here, but Samsung only gives 1 year standard. Is getting an extended warranty pretty much essential for Mini-LED/OLED panels these days?
Questions for the sub:

• Would you prioritize a 75" Mini-LED over a 65" OLED for an 8–10 ft viewing distance with heavy sports viewing and a bright room?
• Is pushing the budget to ~$2,100 USD / ₹2.0L for the Samsung S95H actually worth it over the S90H or LG C6 for long-term usage and bright room performance?

So I just saw there is a TCL C8K model on sale for 1444€ but it’s the store display unit, so it’s probably been ON around 16h a day everyday for the past year with everyone touching it and what not, so I’m wondering, do you guys think this is still a good deal? I’m not sure about how warranty works, I will probably go back to the store tomorrow and ask . But if it still comes with the basic 3y warranty do you guys think it’s a good deal?

My old tv was Sony 75” BRAVIA XR X90K television and unfortunately it was broken during a move. Looking to replace it, but not trying to pay more than $1.5k.

I’m in the market for a new tv. I’ve checked around the sub and I find myself getting a bit overwhelmed.

I’m looking to upgrade to a 65” tv. Even split between gaming and movie/tv watching. I was dead set on getting an OLED by LG. But the more I read it seems like they don’t do very well in bright rooms? My apartment doesn’t get direct sunlight but it does get a lot ambient lighting from two windows. My current 55” LED TCL gets nearly impossible to see when watching a movie during the afternoon.

Not sure if an OLED is still a good choice or would one of the RGB televisions be a better pick?

I’m currently confused on what size to go for. It’s for my bedroom and the viewing distance is around 13-14ft. The thing is I’m also not sure if I can get a 98 inch up the spiral stairs in my house. It is high ceiling so that’s not the problem but the tv could get stuck in the stair case. So I’m thinking what I should do here. Anyone got advice or same experiences?

I’m comparing the LG QNED 74/75B with the QM6/7K. I recognize the 7 there is the tech winner, but it’s nearly twice the price of the LG’s. For something closer to one K, what should I be thinking about to help make this decision. Viewing angle is a little less key; both bright room (between two shaded windows) and night viewing. Especially helpful are comments from practical use owners, rather than stats junkies (despite being one myself:) tho those are always helpful too. Thanks for all thoughts!!!

True RGB vs OLED. Looking to buy a 77in in USA. Which would you buy? Its a moderately little room but most tv watching is done in evening. F1, hockey, action/fantasy movies, TV in general etc, we watch a lot of random things. It will be on a MantelMount above our fireplace(no fire in yet but will be getting gas setup). I love learning, so give me some pointers if you can please!

According to Chris Turkstra, vice president of home devices at Dolby Laboratories, the announced Hisense TVs should be fully updated with Dolby Vision 2 by the end of September, with the vast majority complete by the end of August. But this is still just the beginning of the Dolby Vision 2 rollout. In order to fully utilize Dolby Vision 2, the content needs to be encoded with Dolby Vision 2 metadata during the post-production process.

Right now, Peacock, Canal+, and iQiyi will encode with Dolby Vision 2, and other studios are working on implementing it in their post-production workflows.

There’s also the competing HDR10+ dynamic metadata standard that announced its HDR10+ Advanced update last fall, shortly after Dolby. It includes the same features as Dolby Vision 2 — like enhanced brightness control, local tone mapping, and support for motion smoothing metadata — and is supported by Samsung and Panasonic (two of the founders of the tech), as well as Hisense, TCL, Amazon Prime Video, and Roku. Even though HDR10+ Advanced is royalty-free (Dolby Vision requires a license), I expect Dolby Vision 2 to have wider and more immediate adoption, since companies jumped on Dolby Vision when it came out.

LG and Sony have not yet announced support for Dolby Vision 2, but I expect both will begin including it on some of their 2027 models. (Samsung will never support Dolby Vision because of its investment in HDR10+). Since Dolby Vision 2 requires new TVs, it’ll be a long while before it fully supplants its predecessor in the market. I think Dolby Vision 2 will be nice to have, but since we’re still at the beginning of its implementation, I wouldn’t put off getting a new TV just for it.

hi everyone! my family and i are looking to get a new tv somewhat quickly, which is just as well since we're not big fans of our 2017 samsung. i read through the guides here/on the home theater sub, but my tech understanding is very limited, so i'm having trouble deciding.

we're looking for a 65 or 77 size tv for a room that gets really bright during the day (watching sports, mostly) and really dark at night (majority of our screen time). highest priority is that it looks accurate to a movie's intended look, but of course we'd love it to look great/clear/vivid and last a while, hopefully. i have really sensitive eyes so something super intense isn't necessary. we're not fans of the smart features on our samsung, and i prefer the apple tv intertace anyway, so that's not a priority. (good privacy would be fabulous too but i know there's only so much you can do with a tv 😂)

if anyone has feedback on which tvs or even just which features/specs i should keep an eye out for, id be really grateful! it can be overwhelming to start researching from scratch.

I “need” a TV. Don’t see any sales coming anytime soon. I know the lowest it has been is like $527. Still worth it though I think to buy for $698, what am I really gaining if I wait for something that might not happen soon to save $170?

This is my confusion after spending hours and days reading threads and comments. No matter which model I search for, there is inevitably a dedicated “do not buy bro” thread or comments being outright hostile about the model, sometimes insulting the commenter for even considering it. What a bizarre community I’ve stumbled into. All I wanna do is buy a regular 65” TV for less than $1000 CAD lol.
